But since most of my house was painted years ago, I sometimes have to do minor updates. Or paint a repaired wall without repainting the entire room. Or just touch up some weird chip. I am a cheapskate (time and money) painter and I will not repaint an entire room without very good cause. I try to keep some of all my previous paints in stock at home but occasionally I find a "spoiled" or dried up old can so I take the label over and have a new small can made up. Which is what I did today. This usually works well. They match their old product base as closely as possible which is usually, but not always, good enough. Sometimes the wait to be served is lengthy as many commercial painters come in for large orders of paint and the store usually has a minimal number of staff available. I have never found a day or time that I could count on. It is very unpredictable. Today was no exception so I waited and waitted. The woman at the counter was very helpful and polite though.

I know pretty much nothing about prepping, etc., but whenever I have a question, I get really helpful and not condescending answers. I should mention too that I love Benjamin Moore paint. We've used Natura before and it was great (zero VOC!) and we just painted our kitchen with Aura -- also superb. It coats extremely well. Now we're working on the exterior of our house, and the Low Lustre exterior paint has been great too. Forrest did a custom color match to our existing front porch paint and it was perfect. Woo! Also, anyone who has a rescued greyhound gets bonus points from me.

He has often informed me of new products and sundries available that I wasn't aware of. The store is clean and welcoming, and his assistant, Heather, is great too. Forrest almost always has his dog with him at the store, she's a friendly rescued Greyhound. I have never had a bad paint mix from them (I am a regular customer) And it's a lifesaver for me that they carry samples in just about all of the Ben Moore colors. Some places that carry Ben Moore only have the limited palette of factory produced sample sizes, but Forest supplements those with the remaining colors. It's such a great feature. I'm so happy they are around and centrally located. P.S. Thursday is "donut Thursdays"
