I did about a two day search on prices over the web and found that Guitar Center does have the best prices around. Eager to journey down my path towards rock and roll fame I entered the store looking for a particular electric bass. Unfortunately, the one bass they had left in stock was a floor model with a large gash in it. I was told that they'd be able to create a custom pack for me at around the same price. The prices I was being quoted suggested I would be paying almost 60% more then what I was originally told. Also it took quite some time for a staff member to assist me. The staff member walked off several times to help other people and left me waiting and wondering. Eventually I got sick of both and decided that this Guitar Center was not for me. read more

Received a refurbished Pioneer DDJ SR that was ordered supposedly "new" from Cerritos Guitar Center (Be careful with their employees they wont help you at all don't bother going to the Cerritos Location) This Brea location managed to accommodate us with the the newer version Pioneer DDJ SR2 with such exemplary customer service. Before I even had to explain the situation I was dealing with the assistant helping me out saw the broken up box that my item was received in and knew something was wrong right away. The whole situation was resolved with their amazing staff that helped at the time Mark, Clay, and Andrew. Selection is slim, service is poor. Most of the guys in there don't know much about amps or guitars and will just tell you what they think you want to hear. Went in today and someone told me the Vox AC4TV amp wasn't a tube amp and was a piece of crap basically. This was after I told him I was interested in purchasing it...guess they assumed I was just a chick who doesn't know right from left yet. Went to Sam Ash after and bought the amp there. Overall, I've been going to this guitar center for 10 years and they always have made me fairly uncomfortable. Sam ash in Cerritos has a much better selection, I'd go there instead. read more

I'm not a musician. I don't go in here very often. However, I did come into get a Yamaha P 95 Digital Piano during the Columbus Day sale. (My real upright piano was at home 50 miles away; I moved to Brea for school and wasn't exactly feeling like I should drive back home home to practice piano.) I ended up leaving with a P 105 B, which is fine because I assume it's much better quality and I only paid about $40 more total. While I tried to navigate this gigantic multi-room store, I asked around and found that the staff was helpful enough. At the door, I asked for the general direction, and one of the guys in the front counter pointed the way. Because there were so many rooms, so though I got the general direction right, I walked into the wrong room (drums instead of digital piano/keyboard). The girl there was nice enough to walk me over to the correct room. I had a moment to myself to browse a bit, then one of the staff came in and asked if I needed assistance. I told him what I wanted and asked a few questions, which he had someone else help me answer (???). I had a pretty good conversation with him while I waited for the other guy to get my digi piano. When the other guy came back, he rung me up, and helped me carry everything to as well as helped me put everything in my car. *hearts* Thankfully, cuz I couldn't have done it myself (hey, I was wearing a dress and heels). He was really sweet too. Friendly staff. The price is okay (not great), but for something local I can't really complain, eh? Will come back again if I need something. I bought my Taylor guitar from the Guitar Center and I found this guitar shop is an amazing place to buy any of your musical instruments. The selection is massive and the sales people were very helpful. There is also a designated guitar room where you are allowed to play any of the guitars that you might want practice on for as long you want. They also have every accessory that you can think of that you might need for your guitar. So if you are a budding musician or a seasoned musician, I highly recommend the Guitar Center as a place to buy musical instruments and accessories. read more

Great service! Went in to return an item and spoke with Dan. He was very quick and informative. I had asked him what instruments he played and he told me guitar and bass and that he also made music on Ableton. I told him I also made music on DAWs and he offered me some nice nifty techniques to test out/research to better my music. Not only was he quick and talkative, he also overheard me talking to my gf about getting food afterward and how I did not know what was in the area, and he recommended me nearby restaurants to check out. There have been several occasions when I have called and was told they had something in stock but after making the trip to the store...they don't. Ok, I have been a pro musician for the better part of 20 years, so I generally know exactly what I want and am as knowledgeable as the folks working the counter. I mention this because I am not sure how the sales folks are with less experienced customers (i.e. rip them off). I went in a few months ago to purchase a $2800 Martin acoustic. I went in to the acoustic room (which is nice) in the back where the expensive acoustics are, and tested a few of the Martins. I was torn because the two Martins I identified sounds very trebly and high endy in tone, although both played like a dream. However, I am a tone guy and like a full, well rounded tone. The Manager came in there (presumably sensed a high dollar sale) and I told him I was looking to buy a Martin but I was struggling with the trebly tone. He smiles at me, then reaches up and grabs a Gibson Hummingbird Pro model, and then starts to play (listening to him play allowed me to listen to the tone from a listeners POV, not the players POV). Immediately, that guitar sounded like what I wanted. He then played both Martins I was testing and went back and forth for me. In the end, the Gibson sounded MUCH fuller and better, although it is a little harder to play than the Martin. All in all, this Manager demo'd a guitar that was $800 LESS than the cheaper Martin. In the end, this guy listened to what I wanted (fuller tone), and sacrificed $800 to make me happy. I have had this Gibson acoustic for a few months now, and have acclimated to its playability and LOVE the tone. It even smells like new wood, which I love. Otherwise, I have purchased all my accessories at this GC, without issue. read more

So I was going to this guitar center not too long ago to pickup a bass guitar, I find a guitar and was going to play it. I went up to a few employees and ask if I could have a pick to play with, and they straight up refused to give me one. I was then ready to buy the guitar after I'd played it, pickless. I go to the desk and attempt to purchase the instrument, and the manager who was at the desk said that he was currently with another customer, even though he was clearly not. I go to other employees, and they all say the same thing, even though the place was empty. Also I should mention that when I tried to buy the guitar, they all tried avoiding me, even though I had done nothing and didn't know these people. Would not recommend this store, go to a different guitar center, go to Sam Ash, or buy online. read more

I took my guitar in when Guitar Center opened on 10/01/20 to get it restringed. I asked for how long it would take? Employee answered 1 to 2 days tops, and that they would call me when finished to come pick it up. He wrote my ticket for 20 bucks for the restringing, and then offered a good day with no receipt saying you don't need it. I insisted just to have a receipt for my records. It took 10 minutes to print out a receipt, which I'm glad I have, because here we are on 10/6/20 and I havnt been called once about my guitar. I reached out on the 4th and the employee said it would be done 1st thing that morning and they'd call me. The call never came. Your business is only as good as the employees working there, hence Get better employees. It was my first time using this Brea Guitar Center and will definitely be my last. Ps. Still waiting for my guitar. (UPDATE) received a Generic reply from the Supposed owner Kenneth, that they apologise for the guitar not being restrung in the allotted time, but Kenneth failed to take into account in the Unauthentic apology response for the fact that, when I called to inquire about my Guitar on the 4th, the employee said it would be done 1st thing that morning and theyd call me when it was. They never called me and still havnt. And its 10/6/20 So take your fake authentic apology and shove it up your guitar center! read more

Seems like Andrew was trying harder NOT to make a sale than sell me something. First off, I entered the store and was not greeted. There were three associates chit chatting and not one of them bothered to welcome me in the store even though one of the associates made I contact. I provided to browse around for approximately 15 minutes and nobody approached me. After waiting to see if somebody would help I went to the Guitar string area and asked told one of the nice girls I am interested in the line 6 helix or pedal. I mentioned that I can buy it online from many other line 6 dealers and save on tax. I simply asked if they can reduce the price so it can come out to $999 out the door or meet me in the middle witch would of been about a $38 discount. She went to check with her Manager Andrew. He came pretty quick but didn't even introduce himself (unprofessional) and just said no we can't sell it to you at no tax. That's not what I was asking. Part if being a sales person is being a good listener. So I simply got blown off. I was there to spend at least 1k and there was zero effort to try to sell me something. He could if should me other products or talked about any promotions. None of that happened. I even noticed a comparable open box headrush brand item. He could of said. Hey Mike, I can't sell it to you at that price but let me show you this. It's a comparable item and is open box so you can save money. Why don't you give it a shot and try it out and see what you think. The point is that there was zero effort to make a sale. I called the store manager Shane to tell him my experience. He seemed like a nice person but wasn't that good of a listener too. He also mention that they cannot sell it with no tax. Again, that was not what I was asking for. I then proceeded to further tell him my experience and he cut me off and said "I see where you trying to get at)" unless Shane psychic I don't know how he can tell where I'm getting at without finishing speaking. I already emailed yourvoice@guitar.com they were pretty responsive. But I left my number and Jared asked me when it's good time to contact me. I told him anytime during they day and I just got another email saying they will let the district manager know. Unfortunately I have a $100 gift card to Guitar center I have to spend. With it was to San Ash or Sweetwater where they actually provide good customer service. Maybe I can trade the gift card for something else so I don't have to deal with Guitar center. This Guitar Center location is awesome! Great selection, great service, and friendly, professional employees. We recently purchased a bass and the guy who helped us was so nice. He is a musician and really knew a lot about the instruments we looked at. He took his time with us and helped us to find the best instrument for the best price. We appreciated his positive vibe and there was no pressure to up sell us. I went to this store and one person was working the drum department at 11:20 am. Not a "I will be with you or sorry I will help you next" --- I was not even an acknowledged. One person was being helped and another one in front of me. I looked around for an hour at various gear and was ignored completely. This place has NO customer service. I went in yesterday and noticed their LP records had no prices on them. Imediately I was approached by a salesman...I told him about the untagged LPs and he said he could look each up. Problem is if he has time to approach me right away AND look dozens of records up...he had time to tag the price on each record. I also noticed his department was missing alot of signs. I felt unconfortable. I left the guitar dept and went to DJ, and it was set up better than ever before...not perfect but better. I have experience in retail..if you have time to lean...you have time to make signs and tag. If you wanna buy LPs, go elsewhere unless you want a salesman having to look up every price. A sign is a silent salesman...and a buying desicion can be made faster. Lack if signs translates in to lack if sales. You wanna sell more? Make signs. read more

This used to be a great store. You could walk in there and they have 5 microphones over 10k. 10 vintages guitars over 3k. If you were looking for something quality with people that actually had knowledge about stuff Brea GC was the place to go. You go in there now and everything is junk that is made in China. The people working there look like they are in high school. You wanna buy some you better be prepared to wait for 1 hour just to buy a $10 pack of strings. If you want the real music gear you have to buy it from Sweetwater, GC is a joke now compared to what it once was. read more

Been shopping here for awhile now, typically purchase drum equipment for myself. But recently went in to buy Guitar equipment for my six year old niece who is getting a new guitar, amp and all the accessories needed to get started with it all. The staff has always been very helpful and informative here at this location, the Drum Dept is very well organized by JIMBO the Drum Dept Mgr. and he is also a very cool guy, but most all the drummers are anyways in my experience since i started playing drums 40 plus years ago. I am with Connie H. on this one. I have had great experiences with Guitar Center, and a few bad ones. I think the quality of service does change from moment to moment (it shouldn't, but it does). But if you are looking at hands on experience with an instrument, (bass guitar) for me. It's a great way to see and play it first hand. This also takes away some of the guessing game of online shopping. I still depend on Guitar Center for checking things out, or grabbing some quick cables, songbooks, guitar straps, videos, strings and what not, but I do come out with different service experiences each and everytime. read more
