So i just got into turntables and the whole science of it i love records so i got a turntable not knowing anything of em had to buy some speakers i did some research and i was gonna buy some JBLs and i met TOM he pretty much told me everything there is to know about turntables and everything about speakers and taught me a lot .. Long story short i purchased some yamaha DXR8 and they sound amazing thanks to Tom i have bad ass speakers not only did he sell me speakers but he even emailed me to see how i liked them so i told him im having issues with the mixer and setting up this guy emailed me what to do that worked until i just couldn't get any sound i called to talk to him for advice and turns out he took time off his lunch not just time but his whole lunch to help me and come to my house man im so appreciative of what TOM did the guy is just amazing no homo but he is a very rare breed .. Thank you tom and i definitely recommend anyone if your getting any speakers or any audio advice ask for tom or go there and speak to this guy 9 times out of 10 he will probably solve your problem .. All these big box stores have basically the same shit inside them... the only real difference in my opinion is the people who staff them and this Guitar Center location has some really helpful folks behind the counter (I've been to the few others in the area). This guitar center in general is always bad with orders. I called and asked them if a bass guitar that I wanted was at the store and they said yes. I went the next day and they casually said," it probably got stolen", a 700 dollar guitar just got stolen, hmmm. So it takes about two more weeks and then they text me and say that they are all out of at of them that I'm gunna have to wait a month. So I go in the store and then they realized that they put the wrong name on the guitar I wanted, and it was there the whole time. A month passes and I want to go get an amp for it. I go in because every time I go in they are in stock, I ask about it, nope they are not there," do you want to drive to San Francisco to go get it", no I don't dude. Can I buy the one that's on display at least??? No, that one is broken, IM SICK AND TIRED OF THIS PLACE AND THEIR SHIT SERVICE, DONT GO TO THE BREA GUITAR CENTER. read more

OK, let me start by saying at first I had a bad experience here. One of the employees was restringing my guitar when suddenly he broke my acoustic-electric guitar (he broke the pre-amp). I failed to notice it until my dad saw that a wire was exposed. So my dad, the one who got me the guitar for Christmas, was furious. So he wrote a BAD review on here. A couple of days later the store manager calls me back and long story short Chris, the manager, apologized for what happen and offered to fix my guitar for free. Seems fare right? Well I go to get it fixed and boy did they not only fix it, they replaced my strings and fixed the pre-amp! I was very surprised when Chris gave me a Dunlop 65 cleaning kit and a guitar cable. He really hooked it up! I was extremely satisfied with the customer service Chris provided. They made a mistake but made up for it big time. The only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 was because of my first experience... But everything else was fantastic. read more

I looked at a guitar here and had it shipped to Lake Forest. The Lake Forest shop has a bunch of terrible people working there (this is said from multiple trips, but especially the last one). Though some faces have changed at this store, the service has not. Store Manager Erland Ardagas is a passionate individual when it comes to his work. He gets me and my clients the best prices anywhere. Not only that, he gets the products delivered on time no matter how ridiculous the request. He also has some great support staff, like Niko and Joel, that are right there to help in any way imaginable. I have seen some other bad reviews on this place and sometimes on these guys, but I have NEVER had a bad experience. In my experience, it is usually the customer who is lacking something or has an outrageous idea of what deal they want to achieve that would lead them to write such a bad review. If I, the customer, am reasonable in my requests and approach these guys with the respect they deserve, then there is no reason why I wouldn't be able to reach a common ground with them. This is a great place to develop what kind of music you are desired to look for. When I asked for a complete drum kit and directed me to their drum station. They asked what kind of Cymbal sounds I like and I tested them to see what they would say and it didn't surprise me when they told me that the best sounding cymbals are Zidjian Cymbals. The attitude I got from a worker named Jesse was excellent, he greeted me as if I was his friend which put me in a good mood to see that he is in a good mood while helping me and giving me advice on their drum sets. read more

I am kind of an expert on guitar center in general. In the last couple of years I have purchased over $10,000 in gear. Guitar center service is hit or miss, but some of them you get a higher percentage of good service. This is not a high percentage store. However, to be fair, my last experience at this guitar center was very good. I purchased an amp at closing time, and guess what, I got in and out super quick! My biggest complaint about this store is this dude at the pro sound counter. He's been there forever. If you go, don't let him talk to you with his negative tone. Call the manager. read more

Something is happening at guitar center nowadays, you see it in the attitude of the people in the stores, customer service is down the drain and interest to make or keep a customer is zero. This store is paramount. It's like a demo store for crappy attitude. In the area of pro audio, some of the guys lack knowledge on many products and come up with all sorts of crap trying to sound knowledgeable. Okay, not much of deal breaker if they had an attitude of attention. Take this guy Mel, short guy with a heavy attitude that has made me mov than $5,000 worth of purchases to Sam ash, zzounds and others, in the span of about two months. They say he is a manager, but the kid does not have any idea of how to sell, may not be his fault, but guitar centers for not training these kids properly. The price match thing they claim at GC never works with them, I've had reps from Sweetwater, or others of the phone, in front of the reps at GC and they still want to get something in writing, all with a crazy attitude. I proved to Mel the price of one article was lower at zzounds, by purchasing it there and bringing the zzounds invoice to Mel, the guy got irritated, and, when I asked for another product, since I was already in the store, I asked if he could price match it. His answer, I won't price,arch for the sake of it... then I went, what about price matching for the sake of selling? This kid of course does not get it. As many of the new people there. I ended up cancelling my synchrony credit card with guitar center and opening one with Sam ash. Zzounds became kind of my supplier of choice, they treat you like a king there. "I either go to the guitar center in rancho or brea in southern california. they do. they do try to make you feel stupid like they are smarter than you. i have been a musician (anything that makes noise) for almost 6 years now. guitar being my primary instrument. i am now getting into recording and different programs on my macbook. this i really don't know to much about. i know a few people that know how to do it and give me info, but when i went to ask questions in brea, they couldn't have been more stereotypical. just because i semi look like i listen to hardcore metalcore music he is all suggesting condenser mics that would be good for harsh screaming vocals. its like "yeah buddy, i don't really listen to that stuff". thats not even all of it. he was trying to up sell like crazy. i told him i couldn't afford that much stuff and that i just need the basics. i am a gary numan fan and he produces his own music now and believe it or not he used an sm58 mic with a sock on it to replace the pop screen and i listened to the recording and you cant tell the difference and this guy is telling me the electro pop king of all time is wrong. anyways there has been many different occasions were i would be made to feel less than and i don't like going in there. when you try to ask for help they never listen to you. its so hard to get someone's attention. and i hate how they always expect you to pick up the item you are looking at that day, and they always make you feel guilty. any who, i am actually trying to get a job there, i don't think i will qualify because im to nice to people. its rare to find someone there that is actually nice." read more

Guitar Center used to be a great place to get good deals on equipment if you knew how to negotiate. It was actually kind of fun. But then they got bought by a company that ruined it. No more negotiating now. Its more like a walmart. It's now obviously run by a bunch of bean counters. You have to wait for one of their lame 10% off sales. This place had a great deal on an amp (Bugera V5), so I call in to see if they have it in stock. The guy on the phone acts like he knows me, says he grew up in the same neighborhood and blah blah blah. Something didn't feel right. I had a feeling he was trying to set me up for something. He says he only has one left! hahaha classic, don't they always? Anyway, I actually give this guy my credit card information so they can hold it for me. Then he tries to reel in his trap. "Would you like to get pro coverage?" No. Ok, that's fine no big deal. They are a store and they need to make money off warranties. I get that. But this guy asked two more times. So I reply "no, and no." I finally get there, and the guy I ask acts like he needs to go find the guy I talked to on the phone. I see them go into this little room, and I think to myself "I bet they are talking about the freakin warranty. So, the guy comes out and as he's ringing me up he asks me again if I want "pro coverage." I say no. Then another guy comes and busts out a card that says pro coverage on it. Oh wow. And says the following: "some guy just came in with a broken guitar but because he had pro coverage he left with a brand new one. I tell people to get it but they say 'I don't need the coverage' (in a dumb voice). I just thought to myself "Is this really happening? So, that guy leaves and the guy ringing me up still doesn't stop with the freakin warranty. He says, "you know part of the small price is because these things are made in China, and you know things made in China are not made to last." Fuck! really? Come on! Everything is made in China! Ok name one thing, just one thing that is not made in China! See you can't! Anyway, just be prepared for warranty crap. If you really want it, then by all means get it, but when a customer clearly does not want it, as in my case, leave them alone. read more
