Best guitar store in Texas. I travel for work and have been to many guitar stores over the years and the store in College Station really impresses me. They remember my name, treat me like family, are very knowledgeable and helpful in resolving any issues I may have. I've bought and sold many guitars with these guys over the years.There has been some times where I must say, the store could have done better. But the current manager and sales staff are a real improvement. Ralph the manager, tries to resolve issues within his capabilities, and trust me when I say I have some unusual problems but I understand the reality of business and know he is genuinely there to resolve the best he can. The sales team rocks...literally. Brooks is outstanding, vast knowledge and a love for the craft. Great set of human hearts ...give them a try even if you have to drive a little ways to get to College Station. read more

I purchased $150 in gift cards for Christmas gifts. Unfortunately, the gift cards were misplaced but luckily (or so I thought) I had saved all the receipts for my purchase. I hoped that with all my paperwork, the cards could be voided and reissued. NOPE. I was informed by the manager, Ralph, that their system cannot handle that transaction and that I was SOL for $150. I was not happy but suggested he mention to Corporate that they need to review this policy to help the customer. I NEVER raised my voice. Never used profanity. Never made any threats but Ralph felt it necessary to ask me to never return to their store. Odd way to handle a customer's complaint. But no worries. I won't be back....ever!! read more

Came here a few times now. Not sure if this is the only music shop in town, but we live near here. I recently bought my son a drum set since he's trying to learn. During the Black Friday sale, the whole drum set was $300 instead $400. This place has tons of parts and instruments that you're looking for. So far, all the staff have been nothing, but friendly and helpful. Staff member, Sergio was very friendly, patient, and helpful. He assisted me on this big purchase for my son. He's a super patient dude and took a lot of time helping me understand what type of strings to buy, the best amplifier equipment, and the comfiest straps to look for... Been to Guitar Centers since i was a younger in my teens and i have to say that much hasn't changed in regards to "hit and miss" customer service and their buy back policy for used gear, of course my experience at the College Station location has always been lame. Hardly any selection even before Covid. This location always looks unkept and dirty. The employees aren't much help and don't really take an interest in customers. Now, as far as the selling of used gear my experience is not unique to this location because it has happened to me in quite a few Guitar Centers in other states. First of all, the way they price you used gear is kinda wacky. They'll get a low ball price from Ebay or some other website and then shoot you an "average" price usually way below what its worth. I understand its a business and they cant buy it back for original price and it depends on the condition as well but they dont take into account customer loyalty. I have bought many pieces of gear that i trade in about a year later and im talking gear thats $300+ in price that when i go back they still sell on the shelf. What bugs me is that system for buying back does not encourage loyalty to their stores. Almost like a slap in the face when you take your stuff in and the item is still in stock brand new for $300 and they offer you $25 for the exact item. I take care of my items so they are in "like new" condition. I would expect to get at least $60. The real reason i wrote this review is to bring out that their ad claiming they want to buy back used gear is misleading. I took in a sealed midi keyboard and a rack piece and they wouldn't buy them back because they couldn't find any information on these two items. If I could give them a 0 in customer service, I would. Worst I've ever experienced. Went in with my husband to buy a guitar and was greeted with an attitude of why are you here from the front desk. Very unwelcoming store! We walked around looking for about 15 minutes while the guys just watched and stared. Still no service offered. We left and will never return! read more

Went in to buy a couple of cables and a pedal and to get my guitar restrung. Told me 2 days. All the people walking around doing nothing could've done this in no time. Asked about cables and pedals was rudely shown where to look. Yeah, no thanks guitar center. F you. read more

My son is new to bass guitar and the employees here are so helpful and patient. He had a question about something not working, and they took the time to explain that the fix was very simple (replacing a battery) and did it so kindly. They have been unfailingly good to work with when we had a warranty issue with an amplifier as well. read more

Very small selection of everything, they didn't even have patch cables. Was barely even acknowledged when we walked in and the employees were rude when we asked where to find what we were looking for. The only thing they even said to us when we were checking out was asking for our phone number. It was very obvious they did not want to be there and it made me feel the same way. read more

I called this guitar center location about a used guitar they had listed and was told by employee, Braydon (not sure of spelling), that it still needed to clear the police, but he would put my name on it and assured me it was mine and they would call the next day as soon as it cleared. Well I didn't hear from them and called the store only to find out they had just sold it to someone else. Here are two major issues: Firstly, why would a store list a guitar for public sale if it hasn't already cleared the police dept and be legal to sell? But secondly and worse, don't promise a customer something and then sell it out from under them. Based on this lousy, disappoining experience I recommend avoiding this store. That said, having bought tons of gear over the years, this is my worst experience with a music store to date, and I actually highly recommend many other Guitar Center stores I have dealt with. read more

Went in to purchase a PA system. There were 3 employees behind the desk and 2 roaming the store. After looking around on our own for 30 minutes and being looked at without even one asking if we needed help, we left. Never to go back. read more
