My wife and I walked into this location, there was a really nice young lady at the registers that welcomed us in (she is the reason that I gave at least 2 stars, she deserves 5 stars). I was looking at guitars, a salesman walked over and asked if I was interested in one. I told him that I was just looking and was hoping to bring my skills up before getting a nicer guitar. As I was asking him a question he turned and walked away from me. His attitude and demeanor made me feel as if I was a waste of his time. I didn't like that. I'm very nonchalant when it comes to anything, so writing this review is a huge indicator of bad customer service. The previous day I ordered an item and chose the option to do in-store pick up. The item was in stock and I called to make sure it was there. So a guy name Rich/Richard answers the phone and confirms it. As I get there with my friend, we talk to a guy (don't remember his name because of how rude he was) and he had issues trying to find the item. I told him a guy name Rich/Richard took a phone call and he may have put it to the side. Instead of listening, he goes on and attempts to find it in the location he already checked. He then also searches on his computer and confirms it is in fact, in stock. I go and play with the DJ gear since he's taking quite a bit long on his journey to find the item. I tell him again about Rich/Richard. He then finds him then points in the wilderness, so I'm thinking, "I guess I'll follow the vague direction of who I need to talk to." No, just kidding, I just asked again since I'm on a time sensitive manner. I meet Rich/Richard, the guy who I am for sure I talked to on the phone which also stated he didn't take a phone call. So I must be lying now. After telling him the situation, he attempts to find it and comes back with nothing. He checks the inventory system and says, "oh, there is seven in stock." But yet nobody in guitar center even knows where the seven items is located. Fast forward for more time being wasted for searching for the magical item. We meet a new character named Jose, which is the manager of this GC location. To simplify the whole situation, he just does his corporate apology and tells us, they can't find the item. I typically order my music equipment online but I'm trying to finish a project today that required the purchase item but with the inconveniences, I had to cancel my order and order it online. I didn't realize how bad the customer service was until my friend mentioned it. My friend went as far as to email the guitar center customer store experience and it's astonishing how fast they wanted to fix the situation after reading an angry email. The funny part was that the email wasn't even from me, I could not have cared less. They did offer to fix the situation but I don't understand how it went from "we can't find this mystical item" to "the great gods of rack mounted equipment has pulled strings to find it, so if you drive back here we can give it to you for 15% off or ship it to you." But what really made me decline that offer is when Richard snapped at my friend and said they can't honor the free shipping for wasting our time on this boring fetch quest. This isn't the first time they disappointed but for sure it's a given that when I purchase any high end keyboard, guitar center would be in the bottom of my list. Purchased 2 guitars from here in last one year but had a bad customer service experience this week when I was not offered the amount I was promised for a trade in. The sales guy offered me 100$ on Sunday after checking my 1 year old guitar. I waited till Wednesday for my new guitar to arrive and then went to hand over my old guitar but they refused to pay $100 that was offered 2 days back. Nothing changed about the guitar in 2 days. I received $92 instead. The $8 difference ain't much but it was a very negative experience and the tone the manager talked to me didn't sound friendly at all. And this was all after I purchased a ~900$ fender from them! After this experience I decided not to do business with them again. I checked that I would get the same price and 2 days free shipping delivered at doorstep had I ordered my new fender guitar directly from Fender. So next time I will skip these middlemen for good. I stop by often before heading to the valley. But this GC has some douche bag who works the register you ask simple questions cause a lot of products do not have prices so who do we ask a worker. And the worker sits at the register maybe checking FB or IG maybe taking selfies who knows. All I know this worker Sucks and gives you no information but makes it clear that you are bothering him. I didn't catch his name cause I didn't want to buy anything from there. I'll just keep my purchases at Emeryville or concord... if you see your sales Declining GC blame it on your workers... the date was 3/8/20 in the evening front counter...if you can narrow it down from there get rid of dude he must be new cuz I never seen this worker before...but his customer service skills SUcKs!!! Have tried avoiding GC in previous years because of shifty salesman experiences but stopped by recently because I was working close and I knew exactly what I was going to buy. Went in and bought an audio interface (at full price) and realized when I got home that I was given a used one. Called and they initially denied it but then issued a small discount refund for open-box price. When I got time to set the device up, I found that it had even already been previously registered, which is required to install the software. Whoops. I'm sure they would've just offered another discount or to swap it out for a "new" one but I went back the next day for a full refund because it's gonna be a no from me dawg read more

Went there to look at some pianos. Two sales people were in the section helping the same customer with selecting a bench seat for a piano. They did not acknowledge us or ask us if we needed help. After about twenty minutes I asked another employee that was passing by if he can help us. He said sure and then was promptly asked by one of the other employees a question the customer buying a piano seat had. So now that guy has three employees helping him with a seat. Eventually the employee I had asked for help remembered us. I asked him what the difference was between two pianos and he said he was actually in the middle of helping someone and just left. After ten or so minutes he comes back with another employee who he said could help me. By this time we had researched the pianos online and figured out which one we wanted we still wanted to understand how the testing feature worked on the piano to which he said he didn't know but was probably an app. I asked him which app, he gave me the name no such app existed. I asked him about shipping fees and he said 90% of the time there was no shipping I asked him to confirm. There was a shipping fee. By now I'm just frustrated with the lack of knowledge and customer service. I came home researched the brand some more and then went on Amazon they had the same piano, no shipping, and I was able to get my questions answered. I would have rather contributed to a business in the community, unfortunately the business did not have basic customer service. read more

I wanted to buy a Fender Telecaster. I asked if they had the particular one available and the two sales people said yes, OK good I will take one, the price is $699 plus tax. So the sales person takes the one off the wall and says OK here it is. So I explain that for $700 I'd really like an unused, clean one. They said this is all we have it's only been out for a couple of days. When I pointed out that many of the display guitars were pretty beaten up, the sale person said " oh they've been out here for months ", this Telecaster has been probably less than a week". A change of story and who the heck would pay full price for an abused display model? I explained to the sales people that I would just order online and get a NEW guitar, one of them spat back " suit yourself". So I check online with another major "friend" of musicians and bought the identical NEW Telecaster with next day delivery for $100 less. With regular delivery it was $150 less. Way to go Guitar Center. I'd bet anything that they had one in a box in the back but are told to get rid of display models at full pop first. It's all online with better service for me from now on. I have never found good service at GC any way. read more

So tonight's trip was the beginning of a lifelong dream. I REALLY wanted to learn to play the guitar when I was 9 years old, but my parents derailed that wish by signing me up for... organ lessons instead. 40 years later, my wife and I walked into this Guitar Center. Evan was on duty and he walked me through a selection of guitars and suggested a great starter one from Jackson. I picked up a beautiful matte black Jackson JS22. Evan tuned it up for me, plugged it into an amp on the floor to show me a few chords. Little did he know, he was taking me back 40 years to where that first *wish* to play all started. Evan was crazy knowledgeable, helpful, enthusiastic, etc. - what you'd expect from not only an awesome sales guy, but also someone who loves what they do. Guitar Center is miss-named. it should be called "Best Drum PA Lighting Piano Bass Guitar Band 'Solve every Problem"'" store. Bea cause that is who they are. This last summer I suffered a heart attack and had to have emergency open heart surgery. While in the hospital recovering I decided to sell my huge drum set and associated gear. I had been drumming for 50 years (starting at age 10) and figured it was about time. Time to finally buy myself a brand new drum set. Time to buy myself the best drum set (electronic) ever made. It was time to go to Guitar Center. over the last two years I had spent over $25k at Guitar Center buying a huge PA, lights, Bass amp, electric Piano and a plethora of cajons and drum set components. But this was the first time, in my whole life, I was buying an all new complete drum kit. The wonderful people at Guitar Center were patient with me as I spent three weeks setting on the amazing Roland VAD706 kit, extra floor tom, DW machined direct drive double bass drum and hi-hat pedals, SKB cases, rugs, Mapex throne with backrest, and Altos TS312 and subwoofer speakers. In all I spent over $14k on my new kit. It was so much money that I was a little nervous about it being the right purchase. However, the wonderful people at Guitar Center provided me with so much great information and answers to my questions that I felt my decision would work out. And it did. The kit is amazing. It has elevated my drumming to new heights. And I can't seem to stop playing it. It's a good thing I can play it with my new in-ear monitor headphones, from Guitar Center of course, because I've been playing late Into the nights!! Thank you Guitar Center. So I get there at 5pm and there is a sign out front that says out to lunch back at 6pm....irritating but ok, I needed to buy a nice monitor and microphone possibly some new pickups or even a nice guitar... I'm ready to spend $2000.so I wait on the parking lot for an hour. Finally they open the door and the lady was really nice and we exchanged niceties as I walk in. I'm in the store for maybe 30 seconds and she is walking up to me asking me something but I can't understand her because of the surgical mask covering her face.. I say I'm sorry I didn't hear you what? She asks if I have a mask... Well... No.... Why would I have a mask? nobody but the crazies are still wearing those things. So she offers me one out of the box she is holding... (which right on the box says "does not protect against viruses" by the way) I politely decline the mask and confine continue looking for a monitor. She then says that they are required. I informed her that they were not required. I work in san francisco with the craziest of crazies and nobody wears a mask any more. She still insists that I put this worthless thing over my face... I said no thank you I dint need one. She presists to the point that they kick me out of the store. Telling me it's the counties regulations. But i was in target next door and they didn't require one or kick me out. So this place is run by hypocondriacts appearantly and I will never return not ever. read more

On April 12, 2018 I called the Guitar Center and spoke to Jose about a problem purchasing a 2018 Natural Satin Gibson SG Special Electric Guitar I had completely fallen in love with. If you are a guitarist, you will understand. It might also be appropriate to note here I am currently undergoing extensive radiation and chemotherapy treatment for Stage 3 throat and neck Cancer, so am immune compromised and cannot go to a store as I would risk infection and possibly subsequent death. I also barely have any voice. No exaggeration! The problem experienced involved being offered financing through Synchrony Bank while making my online purchase through the Guitar Center website, and upon immediate approval there was no mechanism to use this newly created Account to actually complete the purchase. I called Jose at the store? And he informed me that he could not help, and referred me to his Manager who told me to call Guitar Center Online. Upon reaching Brandy at Guitar Center Online, after being bounced around and having to repeat the problem multiple times, we contacted Synchrony, and were informed it would take 24 hours for an Account # to be created. After expressing concern, Brandy informed me she had put the guitar on hold, and we would complete the order the following day. She assured me she had the guitar and it was already on my order, so guaranteed it would still be available. When I called today to complete the Order, I was informed it had been sold out and there are no more in existence! Basically, sorry fella, have a nice day! I am broken hearted, and am appalled at the terrible customer service provided! When going through something like Cancer, a simple guitar can act as a lifeline when a person is at their most vulnerable state, physically, emotionally and psychologically. Taking this hope away is not only bad business, it is downright mean! If you are or know a Cancer victim or survivor, or please join me in boycotting the Guitar Center by not purchasing their products or services! read more

Guitar Center music lessons need a lot of work. We have tried three different instructors. The instructors do not seem professional. Some have come in late frequently, some smoke right before working with younger kids and share the second hand smoke, and some have not shown the interest to teach, rather let the child do anything for 30 minutes without assessing growth. One of the instructors was also on his phone during the lessons. I prefer paying money for a service that delivers. They should explore holding higher standards with your instructors. read more

Usually guitar center stores are filthy but this one is so clean and organized I had to make sure I walked into a guitar store. The outlay of the store is huge and makes you feel very welcome coming alone or with family. The customer service is very good as well. Usually in these type of stores you get music snobs but here everyone was very nice and very helpful. Also very knowledgeable about guitars. They also encourage you or your kids to plug in and try out the instruments. In my experience here, even fellow customers have been very nice to me and my family with music tips or suggestions. Wish it was closer to where I live but I don't mind driving out of my way for good customer service and a good overall customer experience. read more

Matt the sales person took us to a register that was broken and kept insisting it was our card until he asked another associate and they confirmed the credit machine was broken. New register no card issue. When I asked if the new guitar could be cleaned and adjusted he said it would be $80. CRAZY to think I have to pay to get all the hand sanitizer goo off my new guitar and strings checked. He could not figure out if they even had a guitar technician onsite. read more

I don't do online reviews however after multiple failed attempts at reaching someone at a regional or corporate office to discuss my awful customer service experience without success, I feel compelled to share it with all of you. Earlier this month I needed to rent a couple of cordless handheld mics, mic stands and speakers. I called the Dublin, CA location of Guitar Center and reserved these needed items for pick up later in the week. When I arrived on the confirmed date to pick up the items I was met with a very indifferent crew of folks who were indifferent to my needs. One staff member walked around the store glued to his smartphone. He walked by me standing at the sales counter still glued to his phone not once but twice without saying a word while the only other sales person was frantically trying to answer non-stop phone calls. After a good 15 minutes, the salesperson finished answering the phone and began assisting me in obtaining the items I rented. HE didn't seem very well versed on the equipment rental process as was evidenced by the fact that if took 45 minutes to find the equipment I had reserved over the phone just a few days earlier. Clearly the items were not set aside as the salesperson had to call in other staff members to assist him (including the never seen before store manager) in locating the equipment and writing up the rental contract. Eventually all the items were located and I was sent on my way with a set of extra batteries "just in case". When I arrived at the event venue I began unpacking the equipment and found one mic needed battery replacement while the second mic was did not work altogether. In addition I did not receive the mic clips needed to attach them to the stands. Back I go to the store to return the inoperative mic and get needed mic clips. A different salesperson gave me a replacement mic (and additional batteries) plus the needed mic clips without so much as an apology for the inconvenience I experienced. Back at the venue I got both mics working however one of the stands was missing the tightening screw rendering it useless. Now too late to return to Guitar Center, we did the best we could with the equipment we had and got through the event. I returned the equipment the following day. After I lugged all the equipment out of my car and up to the rental counter by myself, the sales person who was glued to his smartphone the previous day, asked me if I needed any assistance unloading my car. "Too late" I replied to which he gave a lighthearted chuckle. I explained to him all that went wrong the day before and asked him to give me contact information for either their regional or corporate office. Smartphone guy replied he didn't know that information and that I could find it online. At the same time, I began getting barraged by emails from Guitar Center. I couldn't unsubscribe electronically so I called the number on the email to cancel further correspondence and obtain contact information for a regional or corporate office. The guy on the phone took my contact information and said they would have someone call me back. Shortly thereafter, I receive d a voicemail from "Ryan" requesting a call back. I called the number provided and asked to speak to Ryan only to discover I was calling the Dublin store and that there was no one by that name at that number. I called the corporate office in Westlake Village, CA and was told they could not assist me and requested (yet again) I provide them with my contact information and that someone from their regional office would respond to my call. Hey Guitar Center, this is NOT the way to retain clients. The gyrations I had to go through to get someone interested in my concerns eventually proved was unsuccessful. Making it so difficulty for consumers to share their shopping experience with you proves to me that you really don't care about customer satisfaction or retention therefore my company will be looking elsewhere for future electronic needs. You didn't just lose a customer, your lost any future business from the company I work for as well. read more

By far the worst guitar center I've ever been to. It's a giant building but there's no separation. Drums are next to guitars in the same room. Seems like the only guitars they stock are fender, Epiphone, and Gibson. I asked a staff member if they stopped carrying Ibanez and he said "we have a bunch of Ibanez guitars" when there clearly were none on the wall. The staff member did not offer to show me the guitars. Been to many guitar centers in the past. I bought a guitar tonight and really liked it, though it noticibly had buzzing, needing a neck adjustment and proper set up. Which when buying a new guitar should have. The employees were useless and stood around. I was asking the cashier about bringing the guitar back (I was told there was no one working who could answer my question about the neck adjustment) and the employee was confused and couldn't answer any simple question. At one point she told me there was no way to answer my question and then said "it's your choice you don't have to buy it. Meanwhile another employee stood by interrupting us by talking to the cashier and playing heavy metal riffs on a guitar he was playing. The cashier left multiple times to inquire if the guitar neck could be adjusted and at this point I was ready to leave and asked the guy standing there if there was someone who could check us out. He replied "I'm not on the clock". I bought the guitar but that was the worst customer experience I've experienced other than a cable tv company. The employees were lazy and could care less. I'll be returning the guitar (the buzzing is bad but can be adjusted but I wouldn't trust them to do it). I'll never shop there again and hope I can find a local shop to give my money to. read more

Amidst the chaos and noise of several children fooling around with musical equipment lies the barren wasteland that is this store. Really though, I know this store has basically been open for a week and a half, but first impressions tell me that the staff has no control over this store or what they're doing. As I browsed around the store for 15 minutes, not one associate came up to me. Honestly, even if an associate did walk up to me, I wouldn't be able to hear anything. While it seems larger in square footage than the Concord store, the idea of putting all of the departments together in one open area is disastrous...at best. The stock seemed pretty limited too, kind of like what you'd see at any independently-owned music store. And sure, maybe it seems like I'm hating on big box guys, but I do a lot of my music instrument shopping online either way. Will I come here again? Not likely, unless I'm in a pinch. read more

Great room to play in and come up with new ideas. The staff is also very helpful as I've found great deals and the majority of my gear. My Yamaha bass and Acoustic amp were both purchased here and I couldn't be happier! I collect strange and unusual instruments, and it's oftentimes hard to get them in tune. One such was my electric bass made by Kay in the 1960's. Anzi in the Repairs department explained the different services that Guitar Center offered, and I chose the Signature Setup. It was ready the next day. Thanks to Anzi, it's like a whole new instrument. Now the Kay bass feels like it was meant to be played and I can't put it down. Not only that, but when I had another bass that I needed to give back to its lender, and needed a last minute setup, Anzi was able to set it up while I waited! I will be happy to shop at this Guitar Center location in the future, even though it's not the closest one. read more

Really unprofessional staff. I came in on a really empty Monday afternoon, and one of the staff came up to me and pretty much asked what did I want in a rude tone. I told him I was coming by to get my strings replaced and he told me it wasn't going to happen today, and that they're super busy (they weren't) in a very unprofessional tone, like he didn't want to be there. Very unprofessional and pushy staff. Specifically talking about Mitch or whatever his name was. He was a bit oldish but still tried to dress/look young. I come in there already knowing about a certain guitar I wanted, but just wanted to try it out before buying. The employee as mentioned above helps me out which is great I guess but then starts to be pushy about me buying the guitar from the get go, like dude let me play it. He talks about how it's a nice guitar blah blah blah yes I know about the guitar already since I researched it before hand. He also keeps hinting that I should buy it. Which is extremely annoying. After he finally leaves I have some time with the guitar. I finally decide to buy it so I go to the register and the same employee (Mitch) helps me out and proceeds to grab the beat up display one that I played and I'm sure many others have. I told him "excuse me, I want the one in the back" he's like "uh ok idk why they're both the same" my reaction on the inside was "LOL is this guy for real?" At that moment he lost my business to be honest he lost it from the first impression, anyways He then finally gets the one from the back and I told him I changed my mind specially after finding out they charge for a case even the one that's supposed to come with it. His whole attitude changed from pushy and fake happy salesman to pushy, desperate, and begging salesman. After I declined he starts to say "I put my all into this potential sale, yes he said potential sale, way to make it more obvious.. continuing to complain about how he put his time and effort into trying to sell me it or have me buy it, which he didn't because all he did was hand me the guitar and start pushing the sale with compliments and information about the guitar (which I already knew) on top. Anyways he didn't have to try to sell it to me in the first place since I already had the intent but his horrible customer service and sales pitches pushed me away. But yea he started to sound extremely upset and threw a small childish tantrum because I didn't want to buy it anymore specifically from him or GC entirely. So, on a whim, I went into Guitar Center today to get my boyfriend a new drum set. My boyfriend is a longtime experienced drummer, and I've never been able to pick up a single instrument. Long story short, I have NO idea what I'm doing/looking for. Luckily Rich was able to help me! He was so patient and knowledgeable it really helped with the whole process. I learned a lot about drums (and how many moving parts they have!) and I honestly would've been lost without him. I really appreciate his attention to detail, and the fact that I felt he was giving it to be straight instead of trying to upsell me. All in all it took about an hour to get everything together, and the whole time he didn't show any annoyance and was eager to help. My kid has been going to Guitar Center for over a year now. His instructor is great and the environment is nice for learning musical instruments. They also have nice deals to buy new instruments and we bought an electric guitar for a nice discount. Overall good experience for my kid. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because it's hard to reschedule class within 24 hours (when your kid is sick for example) but I understand that's their policy, I just wish it was a bit for flexible during flu season. read more

I have shopping with GC for quite while now, this is the first time I felt I couldn't deal with them. If you would like to deal with them using the price match policy, THEY ARE NOT ALLOW to use Amazon to do the price match no matter how much the product you are buying with. Also, seem the sale man in guitar center doesn't know much about the thing in term of sales part, he/she event need to ask the coworker for these type of issue. I assume the his/her coworker is a store manager but obviously he/she couldn't handle to situation between the customer. If you are looking for a place for price match, I have to say sorry, this store doesn't follow the store policy, you would be piss by shop their customer service, and they are not willing to help you either seem it's like you are stealing the price from them. I'm a regular customer comes in anywhere from 2 to 4 times a week. The GC in Dublin is great balance between providing customer service and letting you peruse or browse the store. I've been to dozens of guitar centers and the balance of customer service and giving you space is something that really makes experience better. Also, one of their managers, GG, was terrific in providing me with costumer service and a detailed resolution to an issue of mine. I cannot say enough about how helpful and polite she has been to me. Massive kudos to you GG!! The staff, including Jambo, and the other sales reps are super polite and always helpful if you ask questions. I definitely appreciate the balance between customer service and letting the customer breathe. Thanks Dublin GC staff and I look forward to seeing you all soon. I'd like to see a more affluent stock of Fender and Gibson guitars. They tend to have a lot of budget instruments in the 200-$600 range, but not much in the way of boutique or luxury guitars. All in all, a great store with a lot of room for growth, but a terrific staff with solid management. read more
