When this shop first opened up, I brought in a guitar for a quick pickup swap. It didn't work when I got it back. I put the original pickups back in it and it worked fine. They didn't even tell me that they had problems. Recently, after saying I'd be taken care of over the phone and shaking my hand when I arrived to the store, he handed my amp over to a new hire who gave me a laughable quote for the sell. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life .. I walked in with my 9 yr old daughter this evening after work about 6pm 7/30/25 Not one person greeted me in any way, I walked around looking for a 1st guitar for my daughter, thinking surely someone will walk up and ask if I need help.. nope As I walk past an employee I say "hey how you doing sir " Nothing .. nope response at all.. I'm like ok maybe he's having a bad day.. no worries ! Then after 20 min or so I find a guitar for her, on my own. I'm carrying it around looking for a strap for the guitar.. I ask the employee cause I see no prices.. "are all these straps the same price ?" He chuckles and says "oh no not at all" and walks away.. so I find the price on my own.. pick one out and grab some picks.. I'm headed to the counter and the same guy who said Oh No and walked off approaches me and says " hey is that a used Yamaha? " I say "yes " he says "oh I have some terrible news" I say oh yea what's that? He says "it just sold on line " smfh I just handed him everything in my hands and walked the fuck out steaming mad.. I would have been out of here if anyone would have helped me.. I'll never return .. I'll share my experience with everyone I can .. and I'll never recommend this place to anyone ever.. I don't have any experience performing live and I came into the store essentially needing an entire setup for a live show. I was so lost but thank god I had the help of store associate Jared. Had to update my review once I started working here. I was spending so much time here, my wife insisted I get a job. Now that I'm on the other side of the counter, I'm still impressed. Dan is still the best tech I've met, and I'm treated with respect for my skill and knowledge. Come ask me anything, and if I don't know, I'll learn. I won't bs a 5 Star- there are still issues we can work on to improve the clutter and selection. Our pedals need more love, and I'm at a loss on DJ equipment. You guys want a better rating? Here's a start: 1. Stop putting things on display that you don't actually have in stock. (Microphones especially. "Oh, that's the display model & we don't have anymore.") 2. Stop up-selling everything. If I tell you my budget, respect it. This ain't a car dealership. 3. If I want to purchase the guitar strings, or microphone, or interface that costs $20, $100, $200 more, then I will... but for right now I don't need a GC employee constantly trying to get me to buy studio quality equipment. This tip is specifically for the management: I don't blame your employees, I blame you. It's clear that there is pressure coming from the top for these guys to sell better and make GC more money. Cut it out. There's this thing called Amazon that you guys compete with, incase you weren't aware. The only advantage you have over them is that I can have what I need in a matter of minutes instead of 2 business days..... utilize this fact! I know what I want before I arrive %95 of the time. Daughter had voice lessons and went here for a few months, her instructor was great. The scheduling department and management, not so much. After cancelling her lessons, they reinstated her lessons 3-4 months later and called the day of her so-called appointment (that we never approved) to ensure we were showing up. Being unaware of this, I tried to compromise with them and get make-up time scheduled. To no avail.. I was told, "You cannot get make-up time because the Instructor has already been paid, you lost that time because you didn't cancel 24hrs prior". I argued that they didn't give me a notice when they deducted funds from my account and rescheduled my daughter for four appointments I was completely not aware of until the instructor called the day of ensure we were coming. Therefore they scammed $100 from us. Find somewhere else to go for lessons. read more

lesson dept. do not sign up for auto draft!!!!! Pat Govas said her managers would not allow a refund although I was medically unable to drive the 5 hour trip. You will lose all your money if you MAKING AN APPT or cannot attend within 60 days . they are keeping money from people who are medically unable to travel there. i got random teachers. they missed a lesson i had booked yet didnt make it up to me. it is a one sided money grab! JG is a really nice teacher. I had asked for Josh since Ive been playing 40 years and wanted more cutting edge techniques. JG gave me a good over view of basic theory and background. Since I contacted corporate they did send me a store credit for my balance. They should do WAY better business than this. read more

Cody has been teaching my 5 year old son how to play the guitar for the last few weeks. I have had no issues with the customer service, and my son has been engaged throughout each 30 minute lesson. I have not had any issues scheduling the lessons, nor have I been pressured to buy anything. We will continue to keep going to this location. read more

Horrible customer service. No one here has any idea what they are talking about. Brought in a very expensive guitar to trade in and none of the employees knew what it was or how much it was worth and the manager didn't even take the time to talk to me or make me feel like a valued customer. So after they had to look up what it was when I had the tag and original receipt from 10 years ago they gave a pawn shop style low ball offer and said that's the best they will do. Unless you absolutely need something right now I would advise any real musician to avoid this store and go to GC in Raleigh or Sam Ash in Charlotte. read more

I loved the service I got at this location. As a first time instrument player/buyer, I was impressed with how easily the staff treated me instead of being impatient or pushy. The gentleman, I forget his name, who helped me was very courteous showing me around the acoustic selections and taking the time to get to know what I was looking for. Eventually I settled for an all in one starter kit, per his recommendation. Also the lessons section of the store was explained very thoroughly and politely. Well, I expected much more coming from one of the largest music retailers... My first reaction to Fayetteville getting a new music store (a GC nonetheless) was pure excitement. The town has been lacking a true full compass shop especially with as many musicians are around. My excitement was soon met with disappointment after 30 minutes waiting for a salesperson to even acknowledge my presence. To make matters worse, the one who finally did, didn't know squat about what few items they actually sell in the store. It seems like the focus of this place is solely on the lessons and repairs they provide. Neither of which is a necessity as there are a plethora of shops on town that do a fantastic job at that, who also provide a more personal experience. Long story short, it looks like we still have to drive an hour + to get what musicians truly need... read more

Best to go to this store when it is not crowded. You will receive good to excellent customer service - staff knowledge levels vary. Their guitar tech (whose workbench is on the sales floor) is a good guy with a wealth of knowledge and patience. If you are going to make a significant purchase you'd be wise to plan that trip when they are not crowded. Although GC is well staffed, the store can get to mob like levels at times and the traffic jam occurs around the check out counter. They do let you play really nice instruments so do your best to treat those instruments with care. I've seen new acoustic guitars with scratches and dents due to bad customer care. Good selection of acoustic and electric guitars but the store has almost nonexistent customer service. I went to purchase an acoustic guitar on Monday 12/3/18 and no one in the store walked into the acoustic room to help me and answer questions that I had about different acoustic guitars or recommendations. Fortunately, another customer walked in who actually answered the questions I had and recommended the guitar to purchase. Secondly, when I went to purchase the guitar, they had difficulty finding the guitar case that came included with it. Three employees each said they did not know how to find a case for the Martin guitar. The second issue is just a minor issue of not training employees to keep track and locate inventory and not necessarily a complaint of the employees themselves, these issues can be fixed. The first issue is why I am giving my review only two stars. I get that the acoustic guitar room is enclosed and other customers in the store were looking at the electric guitars but during a non-busy time, it would have been helpful if an employee walked in and asked if I needed help with anything, especially since I was serious about purchasing an expensive instrument. I still find it odd that it was another customer/musician who was giving me better customer service than the employees themselves. read more

I had been in the store in the first month it was opened and I knew space would be limited, but the floor organization worked! Yeah, not as many things as I had hoped to see on display. Of the keyboards there was only 1 workstation. Good selection of MIDI instruments. All in all a good experience.
