The guitar tech, Ray, did a PHENOMENAL job setting up a 12 string acoustic that I bought there that had ridiculously high action. It plays like a dream now! On a personal note, Ray is the kind of humble "old school" musician that I really like. He does great work and has a really calm personality that will bring your blood pressure down just by talking with him. The sales staff were excellent too, but I really wanted to highlight Ray. I swear I can't go in this place without dropping a paycheck! But with everyone in the house playing something, I end up in there often. The staff is awesome and they have a good selection. Not the biggest GC I've ever been in, but the customer service makes up for it by a mile. It's also judgement free...if you've never picked up an instrument before, they're more than willing to help you get set up, and not make you feel stupid. read more

The guitar center had exactly what I needed. I was looking for a reasonably priced piano keyboard, whether that was used or not. The Guitar Center had both. I was deciding between two keyboards & didn't know which one to chose. The first worker I asked didn't know, but he was quick to get someone who could answer my questions. After choosing the right keyboard for me, he asked if I needed any additional items, like a speaker or pedal attachment. This is the best guitar center I've been to. The service is incredible, the employees make you feel welcome. I purchased a mini guitar that I was going to mod. And the employee that helped me was Libby! She helped me buy my mini guitar. She also joked around with me and admired that I paid1/5 in ones. She also offered me some artist guitar pics and I left the store...A day or two later I realized I forgot the pics. I wrote an email to see if they could send them to me. And Libby replied to me a day later! she asked me where to send them to, I gave her the info and they are on the way!!! I most definitely recommend this guitar center. it's incredible!!! read more

Everyone at this location is super friendly! I brought my bass in to the repair tech and got awesome recommendations and a flawless upgrades! The associates told me about promotions that were going on and got me 15% off my order! One of the guitars came in with a cracked neck, but they swapped it out immediately. If I could give them a 0 I absolutely would. I signed my friend up for four classes as a Christmas gift. Apparently some where in the terms and conditions, it said they would charge me again in 22 days. Which I find very sneaky. So when I was one the phone I asked for a refund and they very rudely said they wouldn't refund it because it "Takes away from the classes money". So I said fine, whatever, just cancel it so I don't get charged again. Then he tells me if I cancel my account then I will lose all 8 of the credits that I paid for in 2 weeks. I'm so disappointed and angry. If you're thinking about using them for classes, take this experience and go somewhere else! read more

Drugs enhance the music, not the speed of service. Every employee smelled like they just got done smoking their marlboro lights in a body bag. There is cigarette stink on my mic clip. I understand that smoking is a stress reliever, but you would think these people are performing heart surgery on the president. My transaction took forever, despite being in their system for years. I could tell the manager felt like a babysitter among all the infantile rock and rollers. The sad thing is that I would probably really dig their music if I had a chance to listen to it. Instead I'm forced to listen to the miserable slop that gets the rotation on the radio. Why can't we sentence dopes like Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga to perform mundane duties of retail service and give real artists a chance to shine? I digress. The prices are fair for the most part, but don't even bother trying to trade stuff in. They won't give you anywhere close to what you can get off eBay or Craigslist, even after the paypal fees and risk of getting robbed at taser-point in an IHOP parking lot. Again, I digress. If I could wait a few days I would rather spend time shopping online, but sometimes the whole geographical differences and the fact you can't fax a midi controller directly to me, force me through the smoke-stained doors of Guitar Center. read more

I wasn't going 2 buy new, but after she went over the variety of options available to me there (or anywhere) I will be scoping out their sales the remainder of the year as I narrow down my ideal kit. We needed to get our kid her first left handed bass. We had a budget and we shopped online first. Then went to the Guitar Center in Fairfax, no left handed bass. So we went here and they had one left. The sales guy, older gentleman (reminded us of an older Jerry Garcia), helped us tremendously. We asked him a ton of questions since this is her first bass. We got new cables, guitar case amp and most importantly.... headphones! And we were able to stick to our budget too! Great place and the atmosphere was friendly. read more

I have consistently received great customer service from this Guitar Center location, but mainly from select employees. I believe that most of them have been working there for several years, so they have good knowledge of products and systems. I have gotten good recommendations from the staff, and managers have been quick to resolve any problems I have ever had. When I need something special ordered, they are usually more than happy to do it and are willing to check the products for defects upon arrival. Trade values are not good, although if you really need or want something, trading is a fast way to get some store credit. If you want market values for your stuff, sell it yourself. My only complaints are the values given for certain trades, and rare poor customer service from a new employee. Overall, I am quite fond of this location and its staff. read more

Before coming here I checked out prices online. I called the store to see what their prices were like and learned they were the same or less than what I saw online. Lucas was extremely thoughtful, not at all pushy, very knowledgeable and so helpful!!! When I came to the store he looked at my son's guitar, recommended appropriate strings to restring it that would be a bit more gentle on a beginners finger tips. He offered and cleaned the guitar and quickly showed me how the tuner I bought works....then Bill (15+ year professional in the industry!) restrung one of the strings. I feel dumb for not walking out of that store. I've been there a few times before for strings and little stuff here and there, but if you're shopping for a product that is out of stock or a "special order", you might want to just order on line or find a local music store or make the trip to Richmond and check out Sam Ash (or anywhere else). It seems that for them to get into their computer system and order a product to the store for a customer takes a bit longer than just going on line and ordering it yourself, and you still have to pay for shipping if you are having it "shipped to store." Also a complaint, friends of the employees often love to hang around the store and bug the paying customers by talking about the next show or concert or why they got fired from their jobs or how their drug habits got them into trouble, etc... read more
