Took a Seiko 7548 quartz diver in for a battery change. Came back 20 minutes later and woman…read moreworking there told me battery wasn't the issue, but a mechanical one. Could understand that, however she also said a screw holding down the battery was missing. I know it wasn't when I took it to her, as the whole reason I took it there was I had opened the back to see I I could replace the battery myself, and two screws held the battery down. I didn't have the type of screwdriver to fix, so took it to them. She also then told me someone there could get Seiko parts and she could probably get it fixed. Had probably 5 batteries replaced there in other watches over the last 5 or more years, but never going back.

Needed a new battery for my husbands Armani watch. Went to a jewelry shop in the mall (right across…read morefrom Dicks Sporting goods) They quoted me $30 and would take 45 min to do. I returned about an hour later and was Informed by the manager she was "unable to do it, the back is on too tight, take it to the other jeweler down from them and have a MAN do it" I left, irritated because she was insistent only a man would be able to remove. I saw Fashion Time (kiosk in middle) and a young female was working. I walked over and handed her the watch, asked if she could change battery, and what cost would be. She said $19.99 and could do as I wait. 5 minutes later she asked me if I wanted her to adjust the time. I told her what the jewelry shop down had said- and she just shook her head and smiled. I wish I got her name, she was young and dark haired. EXCELLENT customer service!! I joked that the jeweler should hire her since she was super woman, and she said she was happy where she was. (I hope the owner sees this and values her!!)

I only wish I had read some of these reviews before I went there myself. I brought in my deceased father-in-law's Rolex that he left to my son. Our plan was to give it to him at his college graduation. The watch had sat in its box for 10 years and I paid Vic $425 to service the watch. He said he would take it apart, clean it, and make sure it was running correctly. When picking up the watch, Vic said that it was keeping good time. We gave it to my son and that day when he wore it at graduation he noticed that not only would it stop and start running, but it was running fast--hours per day fast. I was disappointed, but took it back to Vic and told him about the problem. He took it and when I returned one week later, he said he didn't know why it was running fast, that he re-oiled a jewel, and that it was now keeping good time. I drove 30 minutes home, and when I arrived, it was 5 minutes faster than I set it at the shop. Of course, this continued and by the end of the day it was no where near keeping correct time. At this point, I was done with Vic and Gold N'times. I took the watch to a recommended shop and the owner called me the next day and described a hairspring problem that was causing the watch to run fast. Additionally, he showed me the internals of the watch and how it was obvious to tell that the watch had not been cleaned recently. I could not afford the full service price he quoted me, but he offered to stop with the repairs he had done thus far for $200. I returned to Vic's shop to ask for a refund--and not even a full refund. I was asking for $200 back to settle with the other shop. This would leave him with money for his time and I wouldn't have to be out any additional money to give my son his grandfather's watch that could actually keep time (even though it still hadn't been fully cleaned or serviced). I explained my side to Vic, that I had paid him for a watch service that left me with a watch that did not tell time and I described the refund that I felt was fair. He immediately told me "I can't help you with that" and he was shocked that I would have even come back to him to ask for any kind of a refund. He actually started ignoring me as I tried to discuss this with him--looking at a magazine on his display case and even walking into his work area as he continued to tell me that he couldn't help me. Even after I confronted him about having clearly seen that the watch had not even been cleaned, he continued to tell me that he could not help me and even told me that I should just pay the $200 to the other shop and be happy that I had a working watch. And in a particularly pathetic bit of sarcasm, he actually suggested that I sell the watch if the money was so important to me. Needless to say, I left without any kind of refund. Honestly, this entire interaction made me more sad than angry--sad to see a business owner not only do such shoddy work and pass it off as professional, but to actually be willing treat people with such dismissive apathy.

Yes, that's dumb. We made an in home appointment with Sam who is friendly and respectful, wears shoe covers and a mask. He got right to work taking the works out and checking everything inside. Surprisingly the clock wasn't dirty but desperately needed oil. Delaying oiling it caused some minor wear on 2 gears. But he said it's not enough to need replacement or repair. I wouldn't have known the difference if he had said it did but he was honest. He oiled it, answered all my many questions as he worked and was done in 30 minutes. He asked if we would like to make an appointment for an oiling in 2 years! If you sign up for routine maintenance the price is discounted. And I need reminders! My friend had an appointment same day. Her clock needed some repairs but his estimate was way less than other clock repairs we've had done in the past. He is in great demand and has a few months wait for repairs to be completed but it'll be done right and with quality parts some of which he hand makes.

However, Sam brought it back to life for us and now the clock is ticking on time and chiming my favorite Westminster chime. Since we knew how old the mechanism or the heart of the clock, we were happy to have Sam get a new mechanism for our clock. Sam has an outstanding customer service, and he is very diligent about his work. Repairing a grandfather clock requires lots of patience and we don't have that nowadays. We trusted as he repaired the grandfather clock that belonged to my brother-in law. It's hard to find such an honest clock repair and we defiantly recommend his business. Now our Clock is running on time.
