While I did not go physically to this location, my online ordered shipped from here. I LOVE the guitar BUT... When the guitar arrived, there were a few things that could've made for a better experience. First, the guitar was filthy covered in fingerprints, and the strings were corroded beyond use. Also, as this was a Floyd Rose equipped guitar, there was no whammy bar included in the box. And THE last straw was, after cleaning and getting it playable, I plugged in and there was NO SOUND. I unscrewed the back plate and saw there was no wire soldered to the jack. NOTHING. I bet this guitar hung on the wall and never sold because nobody could get any sound from it. A SIMPLE shipping check list of a few validations would've revealed this. I expected way better from Guitar Center. I don't think I will purchase anything online or in shop from them any further when there are plenty of local shops who will bend backward to white glove customers. I had a disappointing experience with the Greenwood, IN Guitar Center that reflects poorly on their customer service and accountability. After purchasing a used Ovation guitar, the bridge separated from the body while being played normally. When I contacted the store to ask whether Guitar Center could help with a repair or resolution, I was told they would do nothing because I hadn't purchased an extended protection plan. I was advised to seek outside repair shops and told the repair would likely cost more than the guitar was worth. I then asked whether the purchase value could be applied toward a replacement guitar. That request was dismissed immediately, without discussion, and in a tone that was unprofessional and dismissive. I am a 100% service-connected disabled combat veteran, and music is a critical part of my ongoing therapy for TBI and PTSD. I wasn't asking for a handout -- only for the store to stand behind a product that failed during normal use. This experience undermined the trust Guitar Center claims to value in its relationship with musicians. read more

The store has tons of musical options to shop for including guitars, basses, keyboards, drums, and more. There seemed to be plenty of staff some friendlier and helpful than others. We stopped in to shop for some guitar strings, picks, and a pedal amplifier for our acoustic and electric guitars at home. The pricing is very reasonable and you can find some good clearance deals in different areas of the store. The bathrooms were not very clean and the carpets were dirty out on the main floor. I think they have room for improvement with cleaning standards along with staff approachability. read more

I was in the market for a new mixing board. I went into the store and the only mixing boards. I could find on display were ones that were being sold as used equipment. After checking every corner of the store to make sure that I hadn't overlooked something, I hunted down a cell's associate and inquired about mixing boards. He told me they had several in stock. And that I could go online and look at them and pick them up at the store. The reason why I came into the store was so that I can have a tactile experience with the different mixing boards. The clerk also informed me. That Guitar Center has a very good return policy and that I could buy anything I wanted to try it out and if it didn't fit my needs, return it. I hadn't planned on buying 3 different mixing boards. And then returning the 2 that I did not like. Since guitar center wants to push all of its client based to online, I will do my research and then purchase from some other company like sweet water. Everyone has the same product and similar pricing. I just wanted some place where I could put my hands-on it before I bought it. read more

Went in to get some strings that are on special for Christmas. I couldn't find the advertised 3 packs that were shown online. I asked a guy for some help and he tells me, 'they never really sent us any of the 9.5 gauge sets in 3 pack, it's very strange'. So I asked him if he's going to honor what's advertised online and without missing a beat he says, 'we're out of those at this location'. Well done sir, you're good at repeating what someone told you to say. Overall rating for this GC?, shitty, oh and you also missed a guitar sale too. Yeah had actually seen something that I was going to buy. Believe me when I say I'll never go to the GC again, especially this location. Overall poor selection of instruments, filthy environment with crap all over the place and people working there that have no business dealing with the public. I don't normally review retail, as I stick with restaurants and an occasional hotel or interesting location. But as a frequent GC customer, the Greenwood store always exceeds my expectations. So I thought I might write a quickie to tell the world. Like any Guitar Center, they sell guitars. And drums and keyboards and music and a bunch of DJ stuff that fascinates but confuses me! But what makes them different is the extreme helpfulness and friendlieness of the staff at this store. Never pushy, always able and willing to answer questions, and Donnie the guitar tech is amazingly knowledgable. Kudos to GC of Greenwood. I hate to admit that I'll be spending way too much in your store for years to come! read more

This was my first trip here in a decade. I came to find a specific keyboard listed on the website that looked like it would be a great fun tool for the family. After walking around aimlessly for 30 min, but having some fun seeing all the awesome stuff they have, I finally went up to the counter in the area to ask about it since I couldn't find it on my own. The older gentleman that worked the area was not only running around frantically trying to service customers from what I can tell, but he quite loudly was berating the Store management for not having the staff on hand to handle people. This is Wednesday at 1:30pm. Not rush hour. Not Friday or Saturday.... I'm happy they have lots of customers but wow come on. One guy who can't even keep his composure and trying to help everyone?! So I go to the other side and ask a nice guy behind the counter in guitar area. He says he's never seen or heard of the brand that I showed him on my phone. I told him I'd rather Buy it here instead of the listing on Amazon even if it costs more here. I like to touch the item, get an opinion from a pro in person and have somewhere to come back to if I have issues. Instead he just kinda blows it off with a "yea I don't have any idea about it. Go to the other side and ask the older guy who's working the area". Wow. Yea the guy who is still balking our loud who can't get help lol. I'm gone. Too bad. I'll just keep feeding the corporate crusher AMAZON even though I prefer to buy local. Ladies and gentlemen, this is why box stores are going out of business. I visited the Greenwood, Indiana, store on April 3, 2021. During my 45 minute time in the store, I was not greeted nor asked if I could be helped by any of the around five sales associates present. None of the sales associates, three of who primarily hung out in the checkout area/island in the middle of the store, cared at all to come out from behind this area to possibly make a sale. No, they were not busy helping customers by ringing up sales. The store appears to be run-down and in poor condition, as I noticed the paint on the walls in some areas was worn from blue to white, possibly showing the gypsum sheetrock underneath. Inventory seemed a little sparse also and was disappointing. It seems as though the emphasis is on a huge section of sound-proof booths up at the front of the store where the counter and guitar effects pedals display used to be. It is not the nice store that it used to be, it just impressed me as run-down old store with apathetic staff, that has lost its focus on customer service and what originally made it a great place. read more

There are only a few places locally one can go to in Greenwood to buy instruments and music supplies. This store seems to have a fairly decent stock on hand most days. Their basically competitive pricing is a plus. I have had some fairly pleasant experiences dealing with the majority of the staff on hand in the past. The only reason they fall short of 5 stars is because once in awhile there are a few select standoffish employees - (in at least one department, and it's unfortunately the one I frequent the most), that appear like they are not interested in being motivated in helping customers. They seem to give off an ultra cool, pretentious and preoccupied vibe. They come across like they know it all; but at the same time they often fall short in telling you much of anything. To exude the impression that the customer should be so thankful that they are graced to be in their mere presence is anything BUT cool. Unfortunately, I just end up putting up with it and try to complete my business and get out of there as quickly as possible. I mostly dread going there, so I think I will try other alternatives in the future. read more

Firstly, I would like to say that this place is wonderful! If you are an aspiring musician or wanted to start from whatever you are in musicianship, this is the place to go to help set you up for success. From the moment I walked in, there was nothing but instruments and music overhead in my presence. I was greeted by helpful associate that made my quest for the items successful. This is associate help me with his insight so that my decision making would be a little bit more easier considering that I may be a bit of a novice with selections of particular materials. Overall, I would say that my visit to the Guitar Center today is a reason why I'll be going back for all of my future purchases if by chance I need it. The Guitar Center offers classes for certain instruments in the store!! So, stop in from time to time to see when you could get your next appointment for a lesson on an instrument that you may want to pursue!! This place is awesome! read more

I was working with a pro-audio guy for about three weeks. I received an equipment evaluation to trade my current equipment in and a ball park estimate on other equipment. I drove the 2 hours to make the deal. I was met with delays and a final balance that was 800 more than it should have been. Needless to say you need to have your quote in email before coming to the store or you will waste time and money. Once at the store they immediately decreased my trade by $100 before they saw my equipment. They justified the price by trying to sell a cheaper model. Additionally they attempted to charge me shipping and freight because it wasn't in stock at the store. Save time and money by buying from an on-line retailer. I thought it was worth buying from a semi-local retailer for personal interaction. I was wrong! read more

There was no haggling / denying and the whole experience was just amazing. I have a couple buddies who work here so I cant trash it too badly and apparently not ALL the people here suck. Went in here the other day though simply for some guitar strings. Had never bought any nylon strings and the girl who looked to be barely 20 just looked at me blankly like she wasn't sure what a guitar string was. After talking to a few people there in the guitar section, none of them could give me any info on nylon strings. Then after walking around a while and finally deciding on buying some strings they said 'oh sorry but our machine is down and we can only take cash' - I had no cash so I walked out. Many times ive been in here I feel eyes on me like im about to steal something and im a pretty clean cut guy so I assume they just do that to everyone. Guess ive been spoiled by too many mom/pop stores. I always dread going in here. I would just advise that you already know plenty about what you are after before coming in here cause these people, some of them kids, might try to sell you about anything, probably which they know little about. All the other super great reviews makes me think they are written by employees. read more
