I had an issue recently with GC when trying to get some info on a particular guitar I was considering purchasing. Long story short I reached out to management regarding my issue. I was subsequently contacted by corporate management and they offered to assist me with my purchase. We corresponded over a couple of weeks and I was ultimately able to make my purchase to my complete satisfaction. I won't be going to GC again anywhere in the US. Most of the stores I have been to either want you to get gear or sign up for the gear card. I went into the Keizer location just to look at amps they had, and their stock is scarce. I wanted to check out the PRS MT-15 head and amp setup to see how it sounded, and it sounded amazing. Asked the clerk if they can drop the price a little because it was a floor model tube amp, and he said the price is what it is - and then proceeded to give me an analogy involving clothes on racks being tried on. Well yes, clothes are tried on and bought at retail price, but this was a tube amp - and I can guarantee most of the kids playing these things in the stores don't know how to properly warm them up and use them. Tried to see if they have any Mesa/Boogie stock, they said no but it could be ordered. Well I am not spending $3k plus on something I cannot play first. Then after this, he tried to get me to sign up for a gear card. I left and won't be back. read more

I loved Tyler in the lesson center and both drum guys for all my drumming needs. I especially loved my instructor, Sean, a teacher of both bass and drums for the Keizer location for SIX YEARS. He brought other excellent instructors to the location and made longstanding customers out of every student he met. Sean asked for a week's vacation over the Christmas holiday to visit his elderly parents. His manager terminated him. All of his students lost a wonderful teacher-student relationship, and Sean lost his livelihood. I cannot give a business who treats their loyal, hardworking employees so badly and neither should you. read more

Every guitar I touched was in terrible shape set-up wise. I wanted to play the Jackson X-Series Warrior on the wall, but the Floyd rose is so screwed up it's sticking off the body at a 45 degree angle (it should be flush to the body...), then I tried a used Jackson X-series RR24 and wow! apparently they get it from someone, set up destroyed, knobs and pots loose, missing screws, and just put it on the wall for sale, for $700! Save $150 by buying the used one, then if you can't do the set up on your own, spend that $150 you saved to have it set up correctly and have a playable guitar! Why would anyone buy one of these guitars if they are not set up and playable to be tested? It's an embarrassment of a "guitar" shop. read more

Kay is awesome! I walked in to guitar center was Greeted bye a young lady named Kay. Fairly standard but polite asked if I was looking four something in particular. I said I was just browsing. Mentioned a few guitars that I already own and enjoy playing I was looking for something Familiar but different. A few got my attention plugged them in play a few cords not well. I don't play well In front of others. But didn't wow me. I went in to the Acoustic room picked up a red guitar played it for a few and she. She walks in and says there is a schecter that I might like. Pull it down and hands it to me. I would have never found it on my own. She remembered that I liked that brand. I was blown away. Vary nice used guitar played amazing and that she heard me playing in that room and walked in and nailed it. Definitely enjoy places that have employees like that. Thank you Kay! They have the coolest guitars there. Super awesome instruments. I once heard someone play the same 5 keys on a piano for over 30 minutes during my last visit. It's still stuck in my head. My favorite employee there is Nick! He's the best! He also knows how to shred on guitar which is cool. He's always super helpful & he's also the most attractive guy I've ever met. I went to this store to buy two JBL Eon 612 powered speakers. The price listed was $445 each. I showed the sales person that Musician's Friend had the same speakers for $300 each. He said "That's good to know." I asked if Musician's Friend was not affiliated with Guitar Center he said "I think so" and nothing more so I started heading home thinking I would order from Musician's Friend, but decided to check Guitar Center website as I seemed to recall they had a price match guarantee. I opened the Guitar Center price match info on their website and brought it back to the same salesperson and asked if they would match the price. He said "I think they are on sale for $299.99 each." I'm wondering why he didn't say that in the first place. I said I needed them for the next weekend. He said they would be there in 3 to 5 business days. They weren't, yet he gladly took my $599.98 based on that criterion. When you enter into a verbal contract with someone and you give them $600 they should honor their part of the contract. I called on the fourth day and asked if the speakers would arrive on the fifth day as promised. A new salesperson told me no it will be on the 7th business day. I asked if I could use their floor models for the gig I needed them for. He said no. You are better off using Amazon and just auditioning what you want at guitar center. At Amazon, the prices are the same or better and when they say two day shipping they mean it. Go with those who honor their verbal contracts. read more

I wanted to thank josh the guitar tech who did a platinum set-up on my fender strat. He did an excellent job. I may want the action raised a little bit more, but I will play with it for awhile. It is very well intonated. I was originally a little bummed. I had to go back for a second adjustment, which was minor, and I did have to restring with more new strings. Once I restrung the strat, I got more of the sound I was looking for. Thank you Josh!! read more

At my work we were looking for a few big prize packages for our giveaways, and another store in town that I tried to work with wasn't very friendly and pretty unresponsive. I called Guitar Center and Andrew the store manager didn't hesitate to work with us. He was incredibly friendly, helpful, and quick to respond whenever I contacted him. When I went to the store to pick the guitars up, all the sales associates were friendly as well. I was really impressed by the store as well. It was clean, well set up, and was much bigger than it looked on the outside. If I ever decided that I wanted to try my hand at playing guitar again, I would definitely come here.I also heard they offer classes, which is awesome and I would definitely go there. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and asked what we were looking for today. Husband said "We're here to buy a Bass guitar." Not strings, a cord or small ticket item, but a GUITAR. We were directed to the location, we told him what we wanted, then the "salesman" said he had some paperwork he had to finish up then he would be right back to help us. He never came back. There were two other people just sitting in the office. The guitars are mounted so high up on the wall we couldn't help ourselves if we tried. We even took pictures of a couple tags to zoom up on to see what they were (didn't work). We left after 20 minutes. Hope the one in Beaverton is better. read more

They're selling used equipment as new. Purchased a new amp online. Location called and asked if I wanted the used model they had on the floor. I said I'd wait for a new amp (I paid for a new one after all). Waited a few weeks and they called me to say it arrived and the box was beat up a bit due to shipping. Brought it home and found that it was a used amp. Brought it back and you'll never guess - the used floor model was missing somehow. This is a somewhat smaller Guitar Center than some of the ones I've been to around the country. Comparatively speaking, they have a decent selection of electric guitars, but a pretty limited selection of basses. Their acoustic room is a good size, but for the most part their selection is limited to the entry-level/mid-level brands - not a lot from Taylor, Martin or Gibson. Their pro-audio selection looked good but their percussion section was very limited. On the plus side, they probably had the friendliest and most helpful staff that I've ever dealt with at a Guitar Center. And they do have a GC Studio for practice rooms and lessons. If you're shopping for guitars in Keizer, then GC is probably the place to go.... read more

Guitar Center sells good products online, but the Guitar Center at Keizer Station carries cheap crap, microphones that are junk, junk switches, etc. Guitar Center sells beginners cheap Chinese guitars with the knowledge they will need to be upgraded. I went to guitar center thinking they will price match a competitor who has a guitar listed a couple hundred less so I present it and everything looks good since they are an authorized dealer. However I was told they won't be able to do a price match due to being on back order. I already spoke to a person couple days earlier so I knew they would be getting them in stock in a couple weeks and was already confirmed by the manufacturer. Apparently that's not good enough to do a price match, they claim it has to physically be at their possession for them to do it even though they are confirmed to be getting those in stock. I work in a similar type of business where we sell stuff all the time that is on back order and we already ordered them. We know how much we paid so we could do deals so I know that is a made up excuse not to do a price match. If you advertise price matching then do it, if you don't then don't but don't say you will and then try to look for anyway to get out of it even when it doesn't make sense. read more

Being a person who loves music and loves playing it even more, coming here felt like I was in heaven! The employees that work here are experts in what they know best. There's experts for drummers, pianists, guitarists, singers, etc. When I walked in I felt like a kid entering a candy store wanting to get a little taste of everything. After playing around with some instruments I normally don't play, I headed toward the guitar section. I was taken away on how they had things set up. The store dedicated a whole room to electric and acoustic guitars. I just wanted to hug the owner for doing such a thing. It was incredible! I've been to a lot of music stores and almost everyone had trouble with space and sectioning instruments with similar instruments. So finding out that this place didn't have that problem made me enjoy going more than I probably would if it didn't. read more
