I'm a professional player in the neighborhood and have shopped at GC for decades, I like GC, especially for used instruments, but this location has some serious staffing issues. When you can get someone's attention they tend to be very helpful but they're always understaffed and racing around like crazy. I can never get them to answer the phone and when I have another GC ship to this location things take three attempts by UPS because no one is there to receive things. This speaks to some serious management problems. read more

Pasadena Guitar Center's lessons were a letdown. Despite having a great instructor who provided valuable lessons and guidance, the real issue was their lack of communication. Frequent lesson cancellations without notice became a pattern. On top of that, trying to contact the center was an uphill battle. The phone was never answered, making it very difficult to get through to anyone. To make matters worse, when I showed up for my usual lesson time after a prior cancellation, my instructor wasn't there. Adding to the disappointment, I accumulated three unused lesson credits due to these cancellations. Unfortunately, the center's inflexible policy mandated using all three within a week and a half, with no option for refunds or store credit. No option for rolling over to the next month as well. While my instructor was talented, the poor communication and lack of organization at Pasadena Guitar Center made the experience highly unsatisfactory. If you're seeking guitar lessons, I suggest exploring other options that prioritize effective communication and provide a more reliable learning environment. I won't be using my 3 credits, I'm just taking the hit. It's a reminder that you really do get what you pay for. Edit: the fact that an entire department exists solely to handle bad reviews speaks volumes in itself. read more

This guitar center SUCKS! Terrible customer service. They don't even acknowledge you when you walk in, or show an any desire to assist. They really need someone just working the register ONLY for the people who don't need sales assistance, coming in knowing exactly what they need and heading out. I'm guessing all of the employees work off commission. So the same employee that assists you is the same employee that rings you up, ensuring they get the sale. This isn't sustainable or productive whatsoever. They really need a team working ONLY the registers bro. Model Footlocker or Champ's... I understand that they may be understaffed, I'm sure due to COVID or what not, but I feel crazed that it's still an issue. This location was never the way it is now, and I've been coming here since 2017. Gotta do better at this location. Definitely need to hire more team members! read more

I COULDN'T EVEN THROW MY MONEY AT THEM! I tried (3) three times to call them regarding my vintage guitar getting repaired. Phone rang and rang... and rang.... a whole lot more. No answer. I guess there's no money in phone calls. I then chose the 3rd option, got a person on the line; but ZERO help. Just the runaround. Went to Guitar Center Pasadena twice to buy a guitar. I wasn't looking I wanted to buy. To my surprise the customer service was horrible and the lack of inventory disturbing. All the staff was running around or in the back but there wasn't anyone paying attention to the customers. Due to a gift certificate and gift cards I am bound to go there. I was a customer with money, gift cards and certificate in my pocket to buy and left both times empty handed. Craziest thing is I was there to purchase instead left both times empty handed. I can't even make sense of what just happened. My 2-year old son has been waiting weeks until we felt safe enough to go get strings put on his prized possession - a toy guitar (fully playable). We woke up early and made sure to arrive at guitar center right as it opened, as he adorably requested. Upon entering, we were greeted by an employee who proudly presented another employee - Jael - to us, assuring us she will help us out in the repair area. My wife and myself walk over to this desk, holding our excited son, who is holding the guitar. Within 5 seconds of explaining what we'd like done, she interrupts us - "This is a toy". Me: "Yes, we are aware. It's his prized possession - he just would like some strings - any strings put on it." With the most sour attitude I've seen in recent modern history, the conversation continued.. Employee: "I don't work on toys, there's no way to fix this" Me: "let me rephrase here. We are well aware that this is a toy. He's two years old. We are just trying to make it look like a guitar again. He's not going to actually play it". She eventually begrudgingly guides us over to strings we can purchase ourselves and hands us a pack of 4 strings (for a six string guitar). Wow, really? Eventually the initial employee (who for some reason seemed excited to introduce us to this "repair" person) took over, and gave us the strings we needed. I told him I wish it was him all along. He didn't respond. Eventually, we checked out, and the long-haired gentleman at checkout seemed to actually care and be pretty awesome. He even triple checked the pack of strings to make sure it's what we needed. Jael - we get that you're into music and your precious guitars. However, you might not be aware; you work at a guitar center. In Pasadena. I get that it's COVID times. I've dealt with the most pissed of the pissed since 3/2020. Just want to say how much I love this Guitar center. Their rep Evan in Pro Audio is amazing and everytime I come there he's so polite, helpful and knowledgable. You dont get that same experience ordering online from Amazon. These are real people and they are passionate about music which is huge. Ive been coming to this Pasadena location for 10 years and went to my first guitar center almost 30 years ago and got my first guitar and am still a hugely satisfied customer. This is pretty much a warehouse with gear in it. By far the worst customer service experience I've had at a music store. It's a ghost town, none of the departments have employees working in them so you have to hunt someone down to help you and that is a stretch. After finally finding someone, who was clearly overwhelmed with phone orders, I waited for them to go get part of my order in the back, and after about 20 minutes, I finally walked out leaving behind the gear I was going to purchase. The guy behind me in line was super pissed, and walked out the same time I did. I actually stopped coming to this location (see my previous review LOL) years ago for the same issues, but figured I'd give it another chance. Still the same pompous "manager", who by the way was stuffing his face with a sandwich in his cozy little office with a store full of disgruntled customers who were waiting to be helped. I told the "manager" I was leaving my purchase behind b/c of the lack of customer service, and he mocked me for wearing a mask saying "I can't hear you behind the mask" while his crony employee laughed at the jab. It was actually kind of funny, but he clearly doesn't care about customers or earning revenue for his store and me wasting my time b/c of his terrible managing skills is not funny. I use to look to guitar center for all my musical needs. Lately though, this location has sort of taken a dive. Customer service: The customer service is great... when you can get help. They are so understaffed that sometimes I walk around to find available workers to answer questions/ find stuff. Stock: This location is probably one of the smallest I've been to. And in recent years it's gotten even smaller by converting one section of the store to music lesson rooms/ pods. It seems they have the most basic gear, more geared towards beginners and not really a place to find / test higher end gear. Price: Everything seems to be slightly over priced but if you're in a rush or jam, this is the place to go. I would rather take a drive to the Sherman oaks location. read more

Very poor customer service and management. The last 3 times I have visited the store (during November), I could not find an employee to help me. Last week I stood at the main counter with 3 other people for about 10 minutes. No employees anywhere to be found. No manager in the office. Finally I walked over the piano section and found an employee. He just shrugged his shoulders, said Guitar Center is short-staffed, and told me he was too busy in the piano department to leave, I left the store as did several others. Two nights ago, I dropped by again, this time in the evening (hopefully better customer service) to buy a piece of equipment. Nope!! No change. Customers waiting for help: no employees. After about 10 minutes, an employee came to the desk. I asked if she could help me with a piece of equipment to buy. Her answer: "I don't do that: you have to bring it here. I only check people out at the register." The piece of equipment I wanted required a ladder to get to. Manager's office empty. I left the store. read more

I can't believe the way I was treated here. I feel like I was racially profiled. I was waiting 30 mins to speak to someone. I was met with aggression and attitude, when I finally had a chance to ask questions about the return policy of the used product I wanted to purchase, the employee Jimmy responded with I should know since I frequent Guitar Center so often. None of the other customers were treated with this ridiculous service. I asked to speak with the manager and I was denied that. Can the manager from the store please contact me, this experience makes me never wanna shop at Guitar Center and take my business elsewhere. read more

My SIL ordered a digital piano, Yamaha P515. Those are always on back order. We waited a few months before it arrived at the store in separate parts. Had to pick up each of the parts separately. Policies and what not. First time I picked up, they didn't check my ID even though it was purchased under her name. They didn't give me all the parts in the first shipment so I had to go back later that night to pick it up. Second time they checked my ID but it didn't match the name on the order. Had to go through the process of calling her in the middle of her meeting to confirm I'm the one picking up. Customer service is good if they have enough people working the floor. If they're busy and you're trying to get someone's attention on products... good luck. read more

I want to start off by introducing who I am. I've had my own DJ company for 10 yrs and have visited many Guitar Center locations. I'm also a client with GC Pro status. Now having said that, I had an amazing experience at this particular Guitar Center. I drove from Northridge store to this location because they were correcting a mistake and Error that was affecting my online order. The custom service manager Michael went ABOVE & BEYOND to make sure that my order was completed correctly. He put ALL of his attention to me and ensured I walked out of there with the right equipment. However, it' wasn't only him. I sat back and watched every employee working that day, and saw a level of customer service I have never seen at any other guitar center. It was top notch and it was enjoyable to be there. I waited an hour for the error to be corrected, but I gotta tell you, they're level of customer service made it bearable. I'm seriously when I say this, they have the A team working at this location. In addition, the transaction was so quick and efficient that I was in-and-out of the store in near record time. I had not liked the way my practice guitar has been sounding lately so I took it in to get it restrung and set up. I like to practice with lighter strings and also like the way they sound while finger picking. I specifically asked for similarly thin strings when I dropped it off. I picked it up today and the strings were off by several sizes, the thing is useful for my purposes and I can not afford to have it rework ed at the moment. I stumbled upon Guitar Center again in Pasadena which I hadn't been to in years....pretty cool still. Some nostalgia when you enter and then the sectioned off areas and a cool acoustic guitar room. Drums, Guitars, Keyboards, whatever you need here as a musician they can provide. I remember in the hey days...how GC staff use to be really pushy like walking onto a auto dealer lot but I was surprised how mellow and friendly the staff were. A good selection of music as well which is nice. Lots of pedals, gadgets, etc. Good stuff! I wish the guitar selection was larger though like their Hollywood outlet. read more

Walked in to check my Gibson guitar setup, since there were some sound effect issues with my VOX amp. Chris was more than happy to help compare my setup vs. the store's VOX amp. Chris seemed like a pretty chill guy, he was even doing drumstick tricks after, haha. Decided to keep my Les Paul setup, then try out the acoustic guitars. They have a good selection of electric/ acoustic guitars, but didn't have some of the more specific Taylor guitars I was looking for (614ce). Nevertheless, Marcus (another employee) walked me thru the process of trading in my old Taylor for the 614ce online. We got to talk about what gear we had, band gigs, etc while we were processing the paperwork. He even found my old gear that I sold years ago on my account. Trade-in/ trade-up was a smooth process, with the guitar being shipped to my house in a few days. Store was organized well, good selection of gear, very friendly/ relaxed environment (including the security guard). Would recommend the store if you are looking for gear or even if you're just there to look around. read more

I was received by a rep at the front desk, who said someone would be with me in a minute, and 20 minutes later I'm still waiting. I ask what's going on, he tells me someone should be out to help me in a moment. And BTW, the guy at the counter isn't doing anything but looking at instruments in the computer.
