    The bridge

I went in this store for the first time to get new strings staff extremely helpful finding the one best fit for me. So Friday I came in again due my last experience but this time to purchase a new acoustic. Fantastic experience starting business off with me great. I came in today to turn in one of my old guitars, it was on the worn out. the problem is not wanting to take the guitar, it's old just wanted to recycle it. The problem arose when the staff whom I have not worked with before was not very kind and lied to me saying the bridge was coming up. It wasn't, again the guitar was in ok shape not worth very much he could have stated the truth that the guitar wasn't up to there standards. It did need a fret job. But to tell me a lie is the fastest way to loose me as a customer and I will not recommend a place to my colleagues where the truth isn't there motto.

I've been coming here for years now all the dudes that work there are always super chill from Jay Greg Oscar and Savanna back in the day selling me my first guitar or Taylor Trevor Jonathan and Riley helping me pick out some new recording mics and pedals for my board some years later this place has always been a second home for me it went from being the guitar pantry to the guitar center some years later when they purchased the extension of the store and I still go there to get all my music needs

I stopped by this guitar center while waiting to be seated at a restrauant in the same plaza. It been a while since I walked into a guitar center so I was curious to see what they have. I have a Schecter C1 Elite guitar so I was interested in seeing their Schecter selections. They didn't have much but I like some of the colors I saw. This guitar center is smaller than the ones I visited but it works for them especially at the location they are in. The place is organized decently and they have a couple of stuff set up for you to try out if you want. No employees came up to me and asked if I needed any help, I guess they wait for you to ask them now. They have face mask available in the front but I was the only one inside the store wearing my mask. They also have curbside pickup here as well if you don't want to go inside. The parking situation here is prefect because there a lot of spaces and most other stores there closed down already.

None of this was bought at Guitar Center Stevenson Ranch.

This Guitar Center store is by far the worst. I've been in the store 5 or 6 times total. Never once have I had an associate say anything but hello, when I first walked in the store. I have literally walked around looking at products for half an hour to an hour, without a single person asking me if they could help me or answer any questions. I look around and leave, and it's like they never knew I was in the place. They literally park their butts behind the counter talking and laughing. I'm a new guitar player, with bigger sized hands. After being ignored, I approached a male associate, with longer sandy blonde hair, who claimed to be in charge of the lessons department. I asked if he had any suggestions as far as acoustic guitars with a wider neck. His suggestion "Since you're just starting out, why don't you learn bass". Seriously??? I reminded him bass guitars aren't fun to listen to around a campfire. He then suggested I look at their guitars, find ones that I like, and do research on the internet to see which ones have a wider nut width. So based on his logic, I didn't need to go to that store at all, except to see and touch the products. I took his suggestion. I went home, did research, found an $1100 Guild, went back to the store to touch and feel the guitar, then went home and ordered it online. Now that I'm progressing with my playing, I decided to look into an electric guitar. I went to this store again and got the exact same treatment. I walked around the electric guitars for easily half an hour. Not a single person approached me. There were literally 2 or 3 other customers in the store that whole time, all walking around and not being assisted. The most time invested in a customer was when the same lesson guy helped a customer exchange a faulty guitar cable (zero profit for the store). Again, the 3 or 4 employees were just laughing and talking behind the counter. I finally walked out and drove to Guitar Center in Studio City. There, I was asked by multiple people if they could help me or answer any questions, as soon as I walked into the store. One sales associate went through the entire line of Fender Strats with me and explained all the different pick up configurations and let me demo whatever I wanted. I ended up leaving with a $1700 Fender American Professional II and a Fender GTX50 practice amp. With extended warranties I dropped $2,600. I hope the owner of this store realizes people in Santa Clarita can afford music as a hobby and if you don't want our money, it's a short drive to give it to someone who will treat their customers right. Your poor sales staff cost you $3,800+\- on just me alone, in two purchases. And, I'm just getting started in this new hobby. I may come back to your store, but only to look at your products, but will always buy it somewhere else. I'm sure you have cameras in your store. I suggest you watch your employees because they aren't doing their jobs. I seriously think you need to clean house. I was there at about 5:00pm on 2/15/22. I'm a big guy, in my 50's, blue sweat jacket. You'll see me walking around electric guitars by myself. UPDATE - Rather soon after leaving my review, I received a reply from Beau L., Business Owner. I was excited to see his response. Unfortunately it's was just a form letter response that he had used with many other negative reviews. Basically a cut and paste reply. How thoughtful of you Beau L. This exemplifies the attitude of the owner, store and employees. They simply don't give a sh*t. In the response it gave me instructions to forward my complaint to an email, to be followed up on. NO mother F'er, I already did my part, you don't get to give me homework now. It's your store, you look into it, you do any needed follow up, you take it and run with it. It's you losing money because of your system. I do want to that you for having what will be considered a testing location for me, when I want to try products that I will be buying from other stores. Nice of you to fund that, since you don't care about your business making money.

Relying on GOOGLE'S Siri, I arrived around 09:15 hrs m, to find business hours had been slightly rearranged at Norman's Rare Guitar Shop. Not being one to waste time, in the same little strip mall (TOPEKA VENTURA PLAZA) I saw a coffee shop (PEET'S) and decided to treat myself to some (coffee), and I did. I went in, got hot black coffee & a Blueberry Muffin. Before realizing it, it was 11 am. So I mozied'on'over to NORMAN's. The video I took, as I approached the guitar shop main door, will tell you more than words could ever say. Once I was in the guitar shop, I felt a nostalgic Deja-Vu pinching me. The same atmosphere, feel, sounds surrounded me like when I used to go to Sam Ash and other, now gone, guitar & Pawn shops. Be that as it may, I hope my photography will satisfy your curiosity of this scouting mission I went on today and as always ... ... thank you for stopping by! 05/06/26 ... UPDATE As promised, Greg Sinclair drove from Redondo Beach (I think) up to my place in North Hollywood, and picked me up. AS YOU RECALL. Greg has been inviting me to accompany him to go to NORMAN'S RARE GUITAR SHOP. We first had lunch on Venture Blvd at BLU JAM. It was very trendy for me, at least. Then we got to the guitar shop and Greg introduced me to Michael, whom you will see a short clip playing one of their guitars. Greg and I had a very satisfying visit at NORMAN'S, as we strolled around inside. We also met another guitarist who works there-Joey, I believe and if I'm wrong, I will correct my error. They have live music on certain days and as soon as I can get their schedule, I'll share it! All in all, THANK YOU, GREG, for your considerate invitation, picking me up at home, treating me to a fabulous lunch at BLU JAM restaurant, a fun time at NORMAN'S RARE GUITARS, and best of all ... your companionship. During my first visit, a worker with gray hair approached us and told us that if a manager came by, we should act like we were buying something. I thought it was a strange and unprofessional comment, but I brushed it off and didn't think too much of it at the time. About a week later, I returned, and the exact same employee approached us again and made the same comment, telling us that if a manager came in, we should pretend we were going to buy something. At that point, it no longer felt like a joke and came across as completely inappropriate. While we were trying out guitars in one of the practice rooms, he repeatedly walked by, stopped, and stared at us through the glass. This happened multiple times and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. At one point, he commented on one of the guitars we were looking at and said, "You're not going to buy that guitar, that's an $1,800 guitar, right?" I found that comment extremely disrespectful and dismissive. After continuing to watch us, he eventually came into the room and asked, "Are you guys going to buy something or what? What's the plan?" By that point, I told him that the constant staring was making us uncomfortable. Instead of listening to what I was saying, he continued talking and insisted that I listen to him. I've been to many music stores and have never been treated this way. Being repeatedly watched, questioned about whether you're actually going to buy something, and being told that you're probably not going to buy a guitar because of its price is not acceptable customer service. This experience felt disrespectful, unprofessional, and made us feel unwelcome.

They also have an incredible selection of traditional Chinese instruments, which is a niche I have not seen covered by other music stores in the Valley. There is a small parking lot, spaces are reserved by suite #, this is Suite E and there are several spots right by the entrance.
