I usually have a good experience at this Guitar Center, but today left me in some doubt about their ability to do business fairly. I came in to buy 2 D'Addario Humidipaks Maintain. They had a hard time finding them, but 9 were supposed to be in stock. Finally found 7, of which 5 had severely crushed boxes. Still full price! Should be marked down because of condition. I also wanted one set of NYXL 1046 electric guitar strings. Full price is $12.99 but the web site for Guitar Center listed them as on sale for $9.99. I asked the sales rep behind the check-out if they were on sale. When he said no, I told him the price on the store's web site. He checked it and I was correct. But he had to get the manager to verify and change the price. I told him that the advertised price was what he was obligated to charge. There were no restrictions at all listed. After he stepped away, another rep told me that only the Balanced Tension were on sale, and oops, they are out. He tried selling me up, but they were out of the Balanced Tension too. Finally the first rep came back and said that I was correct and the price for any NYXL strings was $9.99. He insisted on using his phone to ring this up and that was where the problem happened. So after he arrived at the total, I verified the price.."two Humidipaks for $25.99 each and one set of NYXL strings for $9.99?" He confirmed with, "That's right". On the way home I checked my receipt, and I saw that he charged me $11.99 for the strings plus tax. Too little for me to go back and get my money, but enough to really seriously aggravate me. My advice, check your receipt before leaving the store. And for this particular crew in the store today (12/11/2025) , take a class on customer service!!! read more

I spent several hours in their acoustic guitar room, on several days, before finally choosing my first guitar. She's beautiful. The staff here were super patient and taught me how to tune. It's a really relaxed environment. Highly recommended. read more

I worked with Sully who went out of his way to text photos of the amp. I bought the used amp on line and awaited shipment. Due to a mix up, the amp was sold to someone else over the weekend. At 59 I decided to start playing the guitar. I took my brand-new guitar that my kids had bought me for Christmas five years ago to The Music Stop. Terri recommended changing the strings and doing some things to the bridges and Nut. He also had to straighten the Fretboard, which I had no idea could be done. Long story short, the guitar was SO much easier to play. I've been back several times and spoke to Terri and gained some good tips on playing. I'm to the point now where I plan to start taking lessons. I've been practicing for about two months now. Terri and everyone I've spoken to at this place has been great. Very laid back, courteous, helpful, knowledgeable, and nice. I live in Clemmons but if you don't, I would recommend taking the time to travel here. read more

We needed some audio and lightning for our New Years party That's how we got the chance to visit this Guitar Center store. We are not regular customers. However we had an excellent experience about our rental. We were explained in detail how each audio and lighting piece of equipment is to be setup and used, which is the optimal choice due to our circumstances. There were three individuals who provided us with excellent service: Andy who explained us everything, Bill who processed our rental paperwork and helped us load and Spencer the store manager who processed our returned and refunded our deposit and also assisted us during the rental process. I ordered a guitar online from this store and followed up with a phone call to the store. I asked them to please pull the guitar off the show room floor, since I purchased it and wanted to make sure that the guitar was not sold from underneath me. The store representative put me on hold, returned after a short while and explained that the guitar was pulled. Next day, my order was cancelled with no explanation. After calling the corporate customer service, I was told that the reason for the cancellation was that the guitar was "previously" sold. Their customer service or the lack there of will be followed up with a formal complaint with the Guitar Center Corporate office, BBB, and the North Carolina Consumer Protection Division read more
