I was very nervous about having to replace it because the original procedure had been SO painful, and Dr. Leff said we didn't have to, that we could try without if I wanted to, and if I changed my mind it was easy enough to put one in. Long story short, after many months I chose to have a new tube replaced. He made sure to get a numbing solution he knew would work, was very sympathetic to my nervousness about the procedure without any condescension, and talked me though the procedure, which this time was not a big deal. I feel completely comfortable recommending him to anyone looking for an ENT. Another nice touch is the staff had decorated the outer office for Halloween and were painting pumpkins in the back. I work in the medical field myself and it's always nice to see a medical space that's well run but still takes the time to add a sparkle to the day : )

Sat on my FMLA paperwork for 18 days then went on vacation without submitting the forms to my employer. My FMLA was declined due to her. Office visits are always 45-60 minutes behind schedule. Staff office Stella hung up on me over the phone. When I called back to explained that we got disconnected she said no she was done with the conversation and couldn't do anything else. I told her I didn't hear a goodbye, I understood I was being put on hold for her to find out the status of my fee for FMLA paperwork. Wow. Can't wait to be done with this place. Dr. Gutman was highly recommended by our pediatrician but this is not worth the stress of dealing with the office staff. Any future ENT needs I will be going elsewhere.

I really just picked blindly, but ended up lucking out. On my appointment day, I had a very short wait, before Dr. Feinstein strode into the waiting room to meet me. I hate to use the term "spunky," but that she was. She was a bit short, and had kind of crazy salt and pepper hair, tiny, old-fashioned tortoiseshell glass, and insisted that I call her "Izzy." Now, I've never been to an ENT before. In the exam room was a big, scary looking machine, armed with all sorts of wands, probes, lights, and brushes. I was not feeling secure about this whole thing. However, Izzy put me at ease, asked me lots of questions about why I was there, and my history. Even having those wands and lights jammed down my throat and up my nose wasn't all that bad. It wasn't exactly a day at the spa. But it wasn't horrible. I'm only withholding a star because I'm not 100% satisfied with my answer. But apparently less care is actually better for you, the studies say. That fact doesn't quell my anxiety levels, however.

A few days later I called the office to find out what happened. I was told that the woman who handles new enrollments was not available to speak to me, but a note would be added to our request. Again, nothing happened. A week or so later I had to make a trip to Phoenix so I decided to visit the office and personally pick up the packet. When I arrived at their office I was told that the woman who who handles new enrollments was off that day, and they had no packets available. The receptionist I talked to said that she would add a note to our request. I asked her what assurances she could give me that the outcome would be different than the last two times. Her only response was "I apologize for your inconvenience." It was clear from her attitude that she really was not interested in following through. If this is the level of responsiveness toward someone who wants to become a client (and is about to hand over $1600), I shudder to think what it would be like as a actual client after they already have my money.
