I took my dog in for the removal of a mass. They did a great job. It's super busy but they try to accommodate you. I saw Dr Vaughn and she was really a great vet. My dog is a little difficult because she doesn't like being touched by certain people and becomes defensive. Dr Vaughn with Michael's help were always so patient and I am really grateful they treated Ruby with care. I recommend them, but also be patient. The clinic sees a high volume of animals and it's not just in and out as it would be at your private vet. I absolutely recommend. I also want to give kudos to Dr Malone who did Rubys first surgery, the sutures were impeccably done. I am personally a fan of the humane society vet clinic. read more

Please please do NOT foster for this organization if you have other foster opportunities. The vet team generally speaking refuses to work with you and is on some sort of power trip, clearly not placing the kittens best interest in mind. For example, they routinely refuse to prescribe antibiotics for bloody diarrhea which they clearly stated was within their diarrhea protocol. The shelter vet herself (Renee Poche) is a failed reality TV star from Love is Blind but all her parts got cut, not sure if that led to her being bitter and needing to "be better than others"?? Clearly a very superficial woman that even solicits compliments about her looks from other fosters. When I brought up discrepancies in how the kittens are being managed compared to other organizations I have fostered for and contacted the director of HHS, nothing was done. Then I had kittens that the vet team said perhaps had panleukopenia but when I brought them in for a vet appointment they refused to test for panleuk. This is highly unethical as if it was panleukopenia they it will have exposed my foster space to the virus and everything needs to be tossed. They also asked me to bring the kittens in and did not return them to my care without any specific reason. When I reached out to the directors again with this concern of retaliation, I was then immediately dismissed as a foster. This has never happened in 10 years of fostering for 5 different organizations before. My husband and I drove down a week ago to adopt some degus that needed a home. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Dogs and cats were separated and in large enclosures, in clear view of the public as soon as you walk through the door. The adoption application was VERY thorough, as it should be! Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical, as my mother lives down the street and she always has trouble with stray cats. But that might not be clinic related. It might be related to the adoption side. I will say that I have not had a cat in over 10 years because I was traumatized After my cat passed away. I am ready to be a cat mom again, and having to get my kittens, spayed and neutered was a tough decision and Houston Humane Society made it easy, seamless, problematic free, and great cost for a low-cost clinic. I am amazed at the type of service that I got, and the attention that they gave my kittens. I was only going to use the Houston Humane Society for the spay and neutering, but after the service and attention that I received, I think my kittens will do just fine having their treatment there. A young gentleman Michael returned my call this evening after checking on my kittens a couple of days ago. Their new automated system sent me a message if I had any concerns and I responded this morning, and thoughtfully received a phone call from Michael. Thankfully my experience here was great. Made an appointment quickly and they thoroughly went over the procedure for drop off and pick up. Upon arrival for my kitty to be fixed and vaccinated, there was a bit of a line but not longer than a 15 minute wait to drop off. The drop off was perfect in time b4 work and pick up was right after. My kitty healed great without a hiccup. I followed all the instructions and had a great healing process! Will be back again for any vet needs for a fraction of the cost. read more

Employees were rude when I attempted to admit an injured kitten that was found on the side of the road into their clinic. Employee informed me that, "There was nothing that we can do" & shut the door to my face. After attempting multiples times for them to take this severely injured kitten, they finally took the kitten in a rude manner as if it was an inconvenience to them. Very unfortunate that I had to make such a negative review since I've loved this center for years now. Not a good experience, I almost put my dog to sleep here. I'm glad I changed my mind. They charge $200 to euthanize them and I thought it was $35 because that's what it says on the website. I agreed with the $200 because I didn't know how to ask and the lady didn't give me information just said "it's $200 do you still wanna do it?" I have anxiety and I was feeling desperate for help, the lady didn't give me any suggestions on what to do and just stared at me blankly. The next day I asked why on the website says $35 and she said "only if you give up your dog And your dog is too sick she doesn't quality so it's $200" Shouldn't you test my dog first to give a diagnostic ??? I didn't have money to do all this test for my dog that's why I came here, I thought they could help but even to euthanized a dog they charge money lmfaooo Wow so if my dog was in pain they're not gonna help because I don't have money??? This place sucks. I went to a different place, (alief animal hospital) the doctor is very empathetic and he made me feel better, they told me my dog still has a chance to recover and live. I'm glad I went back for my dog, I would've regretted it my whole life if I didn't try a different opinion and thankfully I found a very empathetic doctor the same day I left this place. I hate writing bad reviews, but this time I need to as my friend has the exact same experience a year ago. I brought my dog for a spay. I called and made the appointment on October 13, with my dog being two weeks into her heat cycle. Made the appointment for December 2 knowing she'd be complete. Dog has a successful spay. When I am at the desk, they tell me my dog was in heat and are charging me a $60 fee for this. SHE WAS NOT IN HEAT !!! Of course, I questioned this, and she showed me the paper that said she had symptoms of heat cycle. Knowing I just wanted to get my dog the heck out of there, I didn't make a scene. But I should have. My "low cost spay " turned into a freaking circus and was just as costly as one nearby to my house. Please beware of this scheme to extract extra funds. After reading all these reviews about not answering phones, I don't even want to get more irate at this nonsense. Literally stealing my money. If rather donate that sixty bucks to help feed the babies in the adoption center. Come on people, just be better. Don't lie. read more

We took out cat here after she got hit by a car and they DENIED seeing her because they were "closed" but we got there before 6pm. When they actually close at 6pm. How you can see a kitty with her eye popping out of her socket and deny her help because it doesn't fit into your schedule even though we got there before closing is crazy, then turning around and saying you love and care for pets is even crazier. I was very impressed with how well-structured the program was at the Houston Humane Society. I went there as a volunteer today, and really enjoyed my time there. All of the animals are kept in designated kennels, but instead of the metal bars you envision when you hear this word, they were all in glass-walled private rooms so they could see out and vice versa. They pair specific animals based on personalities and needs. Each room has a sheet that provides anyone with specific details about the animal, including personality traits and most recent interactions (walks, etc). There is a beautiful little garden dedicated to one of their past pups (see attached pictures) for dog walking, as well as a serene space dedicated to a pet cemetery that was already on the property when it came into the Houston Humane Socoety's possession where the dogs also enjoy walking. The staff were working hard while we were there too; cleaning kennels, walking dogs, and helping potential families to meet matches. They even have a veteran house cat who helps them to determine if potentially adoptable dogs can handle moving into a home with cats. They can always use more volunteers, so please consider it! And definitely check them out if you are interested in adopting or fostering. They frequently run promotions and dropped prices for adoptions, so stop by and help someone find a fur-ever home! read more

Took my dog to HHS for her annual heartworm screening and to receive her monthly heartworm medicine. HHS recommends their online prescription provider to fill written prescriptions; however, I have been waiting three days for HHS to approve a prescription to be filled that they wrote. Only one person reviews and approves prescriptions to be filled. Allegedly, HHS is in the business to make sure animals are healthy, happy and well but taking 3 days to fill a prescription is counterproductive to their service. read more

STAY AWAY AND BEWARE!!!!!! I would recommend to find another place. I took my male cat for shots on March 9, 2025 and March 31, 2025 for his neutering. Just trying to get ahold of somebody to schedule his neutering was insane. I dropped him off march 31 at 8 am for him surgery and the clerks at the front desk wanted me to pay extra because they didn't have proof of his rabies shots ( I took on march 9, 2025) I told the lady at the front desk to check their system I brought him to get all his shots and paid 120$ for all of his shots and she insisted that they need physical proof of his shots. She was trying to add more to the bill in my opinion and later on another person came and finally check their system and CONFIRMED that my cat did have all of his shots. Paid 89$ for the neuter plus 50$ deposit for the neuter. Was told that pick up was at 4-4:30 got there 4:10 and waited for my name to be called. Clerk told me that his surgery went well and to make sure that he got a lot rest. Once we got home noticed that something wasn't right with him he was bleeding a-lot and bruising and I called the number on the back of the discharge papers in case of an emergency and of course no one picked up as usual because they never pick up the phone. I ended up take him to a emergency vet where they discovered that he has a hematoma and that he was very fatigued. This experience is a nightmare DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. They do not care of their well being. They just care about themselves. Customer service does not exist here. Ive called multiple times to bring this up to management and no one answers the phone. Today i tried putting a cat that was randomly given to me for adoption because I couldn't take care of her nor train here. Her previous owners declawed her and neglected her which then led to her having matted fur and extremely underweight. And I can't leave her at my place because i have two other cars which she is incredibly aggressive towards. I put her a room to herself with food and litter box but she still pisses everywhere to mark her territory. I was clearly not capable of properly taking care of her and train her. And I explained that to the but the lady was rude and inconsiderate about the situation. Complete trash. There is a plethora of things wrong with this freaking clinic. Honestly too many to even get into. The employees are smug and often times rude. You can never get anyone on the phone to schedule an appointment when calling and ALWAYS have to leave a voicemail and wait forever to hear back. I once called with a concern TWICE after my dog was neutered and no one ever bothered to call back. Even when you do finally speak to someone and set an appointment, on the day of your appointment they overbook, and so you may have a 9:30 appointment but not have your dog seen until 45 minutes til an hour later. Yet they stress you be on time. The final straw for this clinic with me, was today when they claimed they don't approve prescriptions for outside pharmacies. Basically trying to manhandle me into paying more for prescriptions that can be purchased for less elsewhere with much quicker and FREE shipping. I was set to purchase a bundle of Trifexis from WalmartPetRx, but of course it needed to be approved by the clinic vet before shipping. Three days and three attempts had been made to contact them by WalmartPetRx. It wasn't until I left a voicemail and sent an email that I got a response. I was told as stated above that they don't approve prescriptions for outside pharmacies and that I would have to come in the clinic to purchase it or use their specific pharmacy. (Mind you their pharmacy is much more costly than WalmartPetRx and several other pet pharmacies). I called BS on that and asked to see it in writing since I'm certain this is some made up policy and have yet to receive a response. I will continue to donate food for the animals here, as I have been for awhile, but will not be bringing my dog for care here anymore at this joke of a clinic. read more

im making a yelp account just so I can write this. I'll gladly add another 1 star review to them. Absolutely by and large the number 1 WORST place I have EVER been to in any state. I am originally from Memphis, and the humane society there is PHENOMENAL. I'll keep this review short; every 1 star review, believe it. It is the norm. Anything above a 3 star review is entirely an outlier and WILL NOT represent the level of service and care you should expect if you choose to go to this place, God help you. The staff are incompetent and EXTREMELY unprofessional, and fairly rude as well. The last time I went there because they wouldn't answer the phone, their first response was "well there are other places you can go to". Gladly! After this upcoming appointment that I have scheduled, I will not be coming back, and I cannot urge anyone else enough to do the same. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS. They have a record of trying to scam people as well with additional charges for random BS. Just read some of the other reviews. Absolutely JAW DROPPINGLY terrible staff. And to those who are curious why they don't answer the phone after hours and days of call attempts; they only have 1, yes, 1 person answering the phones, and that person is not even on site at the location. Wellness Clinic Review. I brought my Boston Terrier here to get fixed. It was under $100 because of his weight which is outstanding. It is a little more expensive on the weekend but not by much. I bought an e-collar for him which was about $10 extra - depends on the kind you want. The pets are in and out in the same day. They sent me home with pain meds which was included in the price. Friendly staff. I would definitely recommend taking a pet here again to be spayed or neutered because the price can't be beat! Also several years ago a brought another Boston I owned to get microchiped. Fast service and great price! read more

The vet was kind and sweet and informative . He was able to prescribe me flea medications for my two dogs and the front desk girls even gave me a rebate coupon for $40 off! We got our puppy spayed two weeks ago and the vets were amazing! The spay incision is small and healing great. Our pup did slightly open the incision since restricting a puppy to limited activity is difficult so we had to take her to emergency vet. They stated that the humane society did a great job and that it should heal back together with no complications! We're on the 10 day mark and the incision site is closed and almost completely healed. My only gripe is how long the check in and out process were, but that was only a monitor inconvenience. Also the tattoo isn't a small line, it's a good sized tattoo which I've never seen before. After one of our four legged family members passed we decided to adopt. Their website is up to date and we found a couple we thought would be a good fit. We visited late on a Saturday and were welcomed by friendly staff that really appear to care about the animals there. After filling out an application we were informed the ones we were interested in were not available for adoption yet due to the wait period. Went back the day of and the girl that helped us was extremely nice and legitimately cared for the dog we were visiting. I don't know who was more excited about our decision to make her part of our family, the staff or us. I thank them for giving us this beautiful girl, a gift to our family. I booked an appointment to get my cat spayed because they offer lower prices for pet owners that are low income. I had to cancel the appointment 2 weeks prior to the appointment because my cat ran away. They wouldn't refund the $50 deposit which I understand for normal circumstances, however I wasn't cancelling due to a schedule change or bad time management. How am I supposed to come to a spay appointment with no cat? This policy seems very ironic especially since the whole point of offering lower prices for low income households is to relieve financial burden. Would not recommend this business. read more

Very disorganized. Do not come to any events you will be waiting in line for 5 hours to pick up your pet. Also, when I dropped my kitty off they asked if he needed a rabies shot and I told them no and showed them proof from his medical papers that he had already gotten his rabies shot from another veterinarian clinic and then when I was finally able to pick him up after waiting for hours, they told me they had administered a rabies shot for him and I was shocked because I had showed them the proof that he was up-to-date on his shots and they told me that they would refund me but they never did. Like why do y'all even ask if they've already had a rabies shot if you're just going to administer one anyway?? Doesn't make any sense. Will never bring any of my babies here ever again read more
