I adopted my sweetheart from here. Honestly, i have no complaints! When I finalized Pumpkins adoption, they were very professional and quick about the process, and they also lowered her rate to $20 instead of $50. That included all her shots, microchip, and spay. I also loved that they let newbies take home small goodies. My dog caught kennel cough shortly after being adopted, and since they don't knowingly adopt out sick pets, they covered vet fees to get her better! They really want the best for their animals and I can tell they really care. Thank you for making this process so much easier than most places for me and my Pumpkin.

Our experience here was excellent from start to finish. We found two cats we wanted to adopt at Petsmart. They put us in touch with Trisha at the shelter who informed me the cats had already been adopted. I was heartbroken! She invited me to come to the shelter and see if I could find another pair of kittens.....and I was so sad I almost didn't go. But I did and I found the cutest, sweetest, prettiest pair of 5 month old kittens! They are well socialized, loving and have glossy coats. I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the facility and the care that was given to the animals. Everyone we encountered was friendly and super busy-animals are always being fed, cleaned and played with. We took our kittens home for an overnight stay and we knew they were for us. I took them back in and they were microchipped. Robbie had all my paperwork ready and set up an appointment for their neuter/spay (and they use my vet, Dr. Hendrix, which is awesome because he is great and I am very picky about my animals). They sent us home with all of the vaccine info, food, toys, blankets and litter. We also received coupons from Petsmart and a free pizza promo code from Papa Johns! Nice touch! I am so happy with our sweet babies and so glad that we found this shelter. We had been to SPCA (nice&clean but few kittens) and BARC (in a terrible neighborhood and a huge wait to adopt). This shelter was on another level. They are excellent.

I actually started coming here as a volunteer and was extremely surprised at how well each animal was taken care of, including their nutria. They all get play time and are really taken care of and treated properly if they have problems. I locked eyes on this one tri colored dog the first day I volunteered and after a few times volunteering, I had to take him home. He was well taken care of and had all of his up to date shots AND they took care of the neutering. I think the 100 dollar adoption fee is well worth it. IMO it should be more with all the care they get. If I hear that someone is looking for a new pet, I recommend this shelter in an instant! They are also no kill!! Go and rescue an animal today!!

They care dogs who need to be adopted by giving them what they need ... They also were playing with the dogs when I arrived there.

Everything was a blur…read more Believe me when I tell you I had the best time and will definitely return. This was the last stop on our party bus with a meetup group, Black Girls Rock. And rock out we did. I remember walking through a door, down a hall, crossing a thresh-hold stopping in an alley right before I crossed another thresh-hold into another part of the same club? lounge? Being pulled by another Black Girl Rocker who is originally from Cali who couldn't contain her excitement as she led me upstairs for a very close and intimate performance by a local songstress who SANG tunes from the likes of Jill Scott, Selena and Erykah Badu in a room full of seated and standing party-goers. After about 20 minutes upstairs we made our way back down stairs to join the rest of our 20 ladies as we walked into...what looked like someones grandmother's living room, complete with a tv on the wall, dressers, coffee tables and couches as we caught the last quarter of the LA Clippers beating the Rockets by a 3 measly points. Ever crowded around the tv with the cousins or friends in anticipation of what is going to happen next? That's exactly what it felt like. Kinda like a room full of strangers who all just became family. We laughed and danced over hookah, making our way out the door 20 minutes later. The vibe was chill, the atmosphere was laid back and the hookah was on point. It was so cool, we coulda started and ended our night at the Alley Cat. This is such a cool spot for a nice night. Feel free to thank me later :)

I would not recommend using Spring Branch Rescue Transport for out-of-state pet adoptions,…read moreespecially if you're adopting a cat. The rescue organization I adopted through was outstanding. They communicated clearly throughout the process, helped match us with the right pet for our family before we even adopted, and worked with us to find what they believed would be the fastest transport option. Unfortunately, the transport experience itself was the exact opposite. Communication from Spring Branch Rescue Transport was poor and often confusing. Updates were primarily provided through a Facebook group chat, which required scrolling through long message histories just to piece together where the transport was and when your pet might arrive. Even the dog owners--who make up the majority of their transports--were regularly asking for updates because information was so limited. One of the biggest frustrations was the transport schedule. The screenshots showing pickup and drop-off locations didn't include dates, and the stops weren't numbered. A simple numbered route with estimated dates or even the expected order of stops would have made it much easier for adopters to understand where the transport was and when to realistically expect their pet. Instead, it felt like you had to put your life on hold while waiting for updates. For cat owners, I would strongly recommend looking for another option. Our cat spent more than four days in the transport vehicle, surrounded by numerous other animals in what was undoubtedly a stressful environment. The uncertainty around arrival times also made planning nearly impossible. I watched other adopters in the group chat rearrange important milestone life events and even drive to different states because the delivery window kept vaguely changing or remained so broad. Looking back, I would have skipped the transport altogether. Flying to the rescue, renting a car, and driving home with your pet would have given us complete control over the schedule while likely making the trip far less stressful for the animal. While I appreciate the work involved in transporting rescue animals over long distances, the communication, organization, and scheduling experience left a lot to be desired. For anyone adopting from out of state--particularly a cat--I believe there are better options.

At the time, Pop Tart and I had known each other for only about a month. I was still potty training her, I knew very little about her previous training and I had no idea how she would behave around other dogs. She was sweet, but I live in Downtown Houston, and downtown life frightened her. That random recommendation from a stranger was a blessing! Today, all I have to say is, "Do you want to go to school?" Pop Tart immediately knows what I mean. We drive there with her window down, she recognizes the route and she can barely wait to get out of the car. Once inside, she makes a point of greeting every single member of the front office staff before she is escorted back to play. The shy dog I adopted has become confident, social and playful... a little bit bossy! Pop Tart plays well with big dogs, small dogs and takes every opportunity to zoom. For those of us who live in downtown apartments, having a safe, consistent place with both indoor and outdoor play areas is invaluable. I love that the wood fence protects the dogs from being watched or triggered by the street. BLDH has also become an important part of our community. I have met other pet parents through the business and some of our dogs now have play dates outside of school. Her 'classmates' even came to Pop Tart's birthday party! ***My entire family follows BLDH on social media because everyone feels invested in Pop Tart's days there. And they're obsessed with the content.*** The quality of care is deeply personal. Everyone knows Pop Tart. They send photos, communicate quickly and call whenever something is off, whether she has an upset stomach or has rolled herself in chalk!!! Kerry is easy to reach by email and is often available to talk in person. The daycare team is first class. We have also used training, grooming and boarding. Angel is an excellent trainer who provides detailed updates, thoughtful advice and homework that has helped both Pop Tart and me. Pop Tart now walks beautifully on a leash, can sit, lie down and stay, and I know how to redirect her when necessary. Cris has somehow managed to get her to enjoy bath time. When work emergencies have happened, BLDH has even accommodated last-minute boarding requests. That has been HUGE for me! I love that the business is locally owned, cage-free and genuinely designed around the comfort of the little dogs. Boarding dogs sleep on beds, not in cages. The online booking system is easy, the events calendar helps me plan my schedule and their social media updates about activities and last-minute grooming availability are useful. They also offer thoughtful extras, including CPR classes and lower weekend daycare rates. I do not trust anyone else to watch Pop Tart when I am away. BLDH gives her fun, exercise, structure, affection and a place where she feels completely at home. They give both of us individual attention and I truly believe they care about our lives, not simply our business. These are dog lovers who get paid to love our dogs. That is what makes this place so special.
