I listed a laptop on marketplace and was in contact with someone named Leah. She initially said that she would be ordering and shipping the laptop to her daughter in Florida. I was sent this location along with the recipient Davids Ukachis. Here's everything that happened and I'm hoping this will help you recognize the scam 1. I listed my laptop on marketplace. 2. I was contacted by a somewhat legitimate account, but they immediately wanted to communicate over text because "messenger was not working". I believed this at first since I can't figure out messenger half the time. I also noticed that the user would accidentally call and then hang up immediately. The phone number is a legitimate US number. In my case it had the area code of of Oklahoma City. 3. They will say that they are super excited about the item and how they are going to send you a ton of extra money so that you can ship the item. In my case it was $150 which would have probably quadrupled the shipping cost. 4. They will ask you to send multiple pictures of the item, I'll admit I thought this was a legitimate conversation at this point, so I sent a video of me showing the functionality of the product. Hopefully that is not used for anything malicious but unfortunately I'm sure it will be used for other fraudulent listings. 5. I was leaving for a trip the day of the initial conversation, and the scammer was incredibly invasive. At this point I kept receiving messages that were written in broken English, or copy pasted. All while being seemingly written by someone trying to appear as a sweet mother. At this point I knew it was a scam so I just continued on for fun. 6. When you go to ship the item, they ask you to send pictures of the packaging and show that the item is inside. I sent them photos of a fake improvised box to keep the conversation going. They really wanted to make sure that the laptop was inside. 7. I said I wouldn't ship the device until they sent over the payment. They sent over a fake email confirmation with a faked Venmo confirmation, sent from a fake Venmo email address. This is probably the easiest scam to spot since you can just check the Venmo and verify that the funds were indeed not transferred. I will attach photos of the conversation and the fake email to help you all in not getting scammed. I wish there was something more that we can do to get this whole operation shut down though... No Longer Have Experienced Peope I had used Octa Logo a few…read moreyears ago to help prepare a Rotating Image I had designed for our Consortium Website. Although it took far longer to instill what the end product required, I persisted with repeating what had to occur to complete what was first explained. In the end we had exactly what was asked and we were able to apply it to the website our IT department built. Last September, I contacted Octa Logo to merely change the Corporate Identity of the rotating image for a new Website we were building for an additional company. I was told it would be easily handled and a draft sent to me within "48 Hours". Seemed to be a rational amount of time as an experienced tech should have it done in no more than 1.5 - 2 hours. I was quoted just over $400 which, seemed a little high but worth still definitely worth it. While we were about to process the fee, it was suggested that for an additional $500 I could also "Register" the new rotating image to ensure no one else would be able to use our product. I told them let's first see/recieve a satisfactory rotating image prior to investing an additional funds. They agreed and started working on the image. From that point forward everything became extremely frustrating as the task was passed onto no less than 4 people; each person never recieving any instructions as to what was required (remember, this company had the original rotating image on file). It was beyond rediculous as I had initially contacted them in early September 2024. I fielded endless emails and constant phone calls including during my 1 week holiday to San Diego area with my wife. Recent calls to the company numbers find number not accepting calls. I will assume that they are shut down at this time. Far more than the loss of $400 is the months of calls and emails trying to get a simple task completed. Many of the staff who were obviously new and not fully up to speed were definitely curteous on both phone calls and emails however, the simple task was not addressed.
