The deck off our room was great for morning coffee and evening ice cream. The owner who manages the motel is friendly and very helpful. Cons: the kitchenette is very, very basic. The reason we booked here over the El Govenor was for the kitchenette and we were very disappointed in the lack of utensils and dishes. The cupboards and drawers were dirty inside. The coffee maker needs to be replaced or thoroughly cleaned. The air conditioner is also very loud. We turned it off at night, slept without blankets and listened to the waves. Cleanliness. I had no doubt the bedding was clean but the floors were very dirty upon arrival. I remove my shoes when walking in a door and When I took off my motorcycle boots and socks to walk around and unpack, my feet were sandy and dirty within minutes. There are no brooms or floor cleaning items provided and the room isn't serviced at all during the stay. It's a good thing I brought extra soap because we needed it. There are also no beach towels provided. We had to buy those across the street. To be fair, I think many families and couples coming to Mexico Beach arrive in fully packed cars, not on a motorcycle or flying in from elsewhere. The other guests appeared to be those well prepared families. That said, at $130 USD a night, I expected a cleaner room and more conveniences like dishes, daily room cleaning (especially floors given the sand factor!) and beach towels.

If you pick up some fresh seafood at Shell Shack, and some charcoal at Gulf Foods, there's a grill available to cook an amazing dinner right while you listen to the waves crash/watch the sunset! There was a full sized kitchen that was fully stocked with dishes, pots &pans, and even grill utensils. There was a small dining table with 4 chairs. There is even a stacking washer/dryer. The small pool out front is 3-5' deep. There's also a community grill and pavilion with chairs and lounge chairs. You can walk to so many restaurant's and boutiques. The only thing keeping this place from being 5 stars is the bathroom. There was mold on the shower curtain, mold on the windows sill, and rust showing through the paint next to the tub. If they would fix that, then the location, size of the unit, and the amenities would make it a five star.

I can never remember the names but they've all been good. The only thing I'll say though Is if sound bothers you, you should stay upstairs as it's quieter during the evening/night. Recently, they've repainted the exterior and are now a turquoise color. You get access to the bay from the attached dock and they have a few things for rental like kayaks, canoes, bikes. They also have a hot tub but people hop in early so it's always full Parking lot is small so basically 1 car/room Wendy is wonderful & so is Shay who comes to help when it's full. This past visit they made us quiche one day and waffles another and both meals were delicious and plenty of food to be full from. They also do coffee, orange juice and fruit water in the morning They have a communal microwave and dishware to use and rooms get their own little fridge They have access to the beach across the street and there's a convenience store across the street too. A few restaurants close by but port st Joe is a small and quiet town so the beach isn't crowded hardly ever You can go catch scallops during the late summer, if I recall and it gets pretty busy then Lots of locals eating at the same restaurants in the area so don't expect 5 star dining but the food is pretty good and seafood is fresh in the area Small park nearby as well and lots of seashells

The amenities are fantastic and definitely worth the extra fee. They have a hula in the evenings that they encourage people to attend. The food at the bar is acceptable and the drinks are good, especially the margarita is strong. The other sugary drinks might not do their job. The staff was fantastic and I believe her name was Victoria at the front desk who was a delight to work with.

Front desk weren't especially open for discussion when asked where the sofa-bed went. And the hotel was full?? A huge miscalculation in the equation for us, since we planned for 5 days stay. It was expensive also and was chosen due to that it fitted 6 pax... One in the party sweared to oceanfront and that was indeed breathtaking. So we went to Walmart and bought an air mattress, but obviously not so good option to sleep for 5 nights. The resort however was clean and the staff in general was attentive and service minded. Especially the staff at the front door was one of a kind. In the steaming hot weather there was always a smile and we will fix attitude when golf cart picked and dropped us to the parking lot. The food in the View bar was great, but a little more attentiveness could have been better. The restaurant had also amazing food, butpricey. It helped that you get 25 paper money for each day that can be spent in the bars or the eating places in addition to kids under 11 eat free. The ice cold water, fused with berries and the ice cold tea is a work of genius, placed outside by the pool and the lobby. The cost for an umbrella and a couple of chairs 60 dollars at the beach is pricey, so go to Walmart and buy instead chairs for the entire tour for the cost of one day. The beach was clean but unfortunately too much seaweed, so that was a minus. Rooms weren't cleaned but the towel and garbage was changed and picked. We had to book that a day prior. We didn't have a roomphone that worked the entire trip, in addition the drawer by the bed, wouldn't close. That was also annoying but again the pools, the oceanfront view and the beach all made up for that. So all in all, new experience and fun for the small kids but we will look for other option that aren't that pricey but with oceanfront. It was many of those that weren't listed online that were better in terms of location and cost

Considering the carpet was a dark green it was obvious it had not been vacuumed. Had to shower with flip flops because of cracked tile. Who knows what else the dark carpet is hiding. The lady was bothered I even asked to get a proper cleaning. It's clear this place makes their money by not giving refunds. No matter your budget this place is NOT worth it!
