My friend recommended Dr Steven Fontana for my 92 year old mom. She had to have 4 extractions done all at once. The receptionist was super nice, I can't say enough about Jennifer and Jaylin. They both held one hand during the procedure. My mother was extremely afraid. So nervous that she cried in their restroom but as soon as she met these girls, she felt at peace. The doctor, oh my, he was incredible. He took the time to explain everything to us, spoke to Mom's dentist and made the procedure a breeze for her. She wanted to hug him before she left. Dr Fontana provided exceptional care to my 93yr old mother, removing the remaining root of a broken tooth under local anesthesia. Excellent bedside manners before and after the procedure. Staff were professional, friendly and attentive. Explained the procedure, provided understandable instructions verbally and in writing, and took the time to answered questions. Dr Fontana personally called to check up on how my mother was doing that evening following the procedure. Follow-up appointment was included in the cost of the oral surgery. I would recommend Dr. Fontana if you are looking for a very competent oral surgeon. In addition, his support staff appeared well trained, polite and welcoming. Dr. Fontana makes sure that you understand the total costs and options available to you for each procedure before he begins the operation. I had two large wisdom teeth removed at the same time. He was very efficient and gave clear instructions for a great recovery. He also personally followed up with me a few days after the operation by telephone. Our son had his wisdom teeth pulled by Dr Fontana. He and his staff were kind, knowledgeable and responsive. The surgery was completed faster than expected (less than half the time expected) and my son didn't need any prescription pain meds afterwards. The instructions for post surgery care were excellent... My son did not have anesthesia, but instead Novacaine and gas. It went so well, in fact, he wanted to go to school the next day! Very bad experience. To add receptionist was not pleasant and not interested in helping. To make the long story short I had an appointment for a consultation. Previously had many x-rays done at my general dentist with a CT. Was never told to bring the CT with me even though they were told I have one when I was booking the apt. They wanted to charge me for X-rays I already just recently did. I offered to go pick the CT up and reschedule the appointment and the lovely receptionist who is given way to much power told me I need to go find another oral surgeon because they are not a right fit for me. This was by far one of the most negative customer service experiences I have ever received at a medical facility. read more

My office experience was -1 star. I cannot rate the Doctor as I was denied three requests to speak to him. I can speak to Dr Fontana's inability to train his front desk staff with the basics customer care skills and fortify them with PHI knowledge; that rating is 0 stars. The three staff that witnessed the bully at the front desk also should get more training on intervening when a co worker gets on a power trip at the expense of a new client. ( Note: my services for this day would have been $1,300 plus an implant fron start to finish=$10,000? ). Who lets a receptionist kick out $13,000 in revenue? I had a 45 second conversation with the front desk receptionist person as I checked in 10 minutes ahead of my appointment. AUTUMN was her name on her uniform. This female was sincerely was on a power trip, lacked any customer service or PHI & HIPPA terminology and never offered me a written copy of my privacy rights. Furthermore, this appointment was scheduled and was considered medically necessary and it's shocking that this NON medical person named Autumn denied me the medical attention. A receptionist cancelling medical apointment like she was unfriending someone on social media. Gulfshore Oral Surgery Wild West behavior is shocking. I'd not recomend anyone who wants to be treated with dignity go here. Note, it's been 8 hrs since the the receptionist who made medical decisions for Dr Fontana bullied me and then called my general dentist and tried spin a web of lies, stating that I was beligerant. Autumn is a poor employee on a massive power trip, controlling a lot of revenue for Dr Fontana, wonder if he knows she kicked $13,000 out of his office this morning. He does now and that is sad. I expected a call from a Practice Manager and/ or Dr Fontana with some type of apology, it didn't happen so here is my review. Avoid this experience if possible. read more

I put off I having my wisdom tooth pulled for two years because I was so scared - I'd had a bad experience having a wisdom tooth taken out previously and never wanted to do it again. I went for a consultation with Dr. Fontana with every excuse already planned for why I wasn't going to go ahead with it but was immediately taken by the professionalism and state of the art technology at his office. They also offer a wide range of pain management options. On the day of the procedure I experienced no pain and following some initial soreness, everything healed quickly with no issues whatsoever. I hope I never need to have another tooth pulled, but if I do I know who I'm going to call. read more

During covid19 I had an intense pain in my mouth and Dr Fontana was able to see me right away and removed two wisdom teeth. Him and the staff were extremely caring and considering how much pain I was in my recovery was so quick. No swelling or any issue eating after a day. I can't say anything negative about Dr Fontana because I was never able to actually see the surgeon. I made an appointment for the consultation for my my daughter and had her step father take her. I was not told that a legal parent had to be present for the consultation. When I called to question why they would not be able to see her for a consultation or why they do not make this protocol known to parents during the appointment process, I was told to call the dentist back to find another provider as they were not a good fit. Yes, you are definitely not a good fit. A little more professionalism and customer service is necessary in my opinion. read more

Our teenage son had all four wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Fontana was very knowledgeable and explained the risks involved. He also covered different options as far as anesthesia. The procedure was completed without any issues. The recovery and healing process went remarkably well, with our son experiencing little to no pain or swelling. This was surprising, as we had heard some horror stories from parents whose children had used other oral surgeons in town. The whole experience could not have been better. Our son had his wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Fontana. From the first phone call to schedule the appointment the staff were extremely friendly, professional, helpful and knowledgeable. During the consultation Dr. Fontana was very thorough in his evaluation and explaining the treatment procedure. Various options for sedation were offered. Ultimately our son felt so comfortable that he chose to have his wisdom teeth taken out with no sedation, just local anesthetic. The entire procedure was completed very efficiently with no complications. Our son commented that he was surprised that he did not feel a thing during the procedure. Absolutely wonderful! Never have I had any oral/dental procedures done that I felt completely comfortable with. I went in for two wisdom teeth and one molar removal and everything came out wonderful! I want to comment on my experience today at the oral surgery office of Dr. Steven Fontana. I am in Naples on vacation and experienced a terrible toothache. I was able to get a referral to this office - and although they were totally booked, they were able to accommodate me and get me in. Kathy the scheduling coordinator could not have been more gracious. Katie was so reassuring as the treatment coordinator and pretty much held my hand through the entire process. Dr. Fontana was amazing! I never felt one iota of pain with this complicated extraction. I would heartily endorse this practice. Their commitment to exquisite customer service coupled with technical and clinical professionalism was outstanding. I would highly recommend this office. Dr. Fontana and his staff are excellent. They are very thorough and pleasant from the moment you step into the door. The staff is extremely organized and efficient. I only waited about 5 minutes. I went to get 2 teeth pulled, which is extremely dreadful in itself. Dr. Fontana made me feel very comfortable and relaxed as he informed me about the process and eased my fears. The process was quick and actually pretty painless. Dr. Fontana even just called on a Friday at 5:00 to check on me. I went to Steven Fontana for a consult to get my wisedom teeth extracted, everything was going well and I was ready to book my appointment; but I remembered while researching him he had a malpractice claim in 2011. So I asked him about it and he just looks at me blankly and says, "I've never had a malpractice claim at this office." I go through all the information I know about it and he has no clue what I'm talking about, only to tell me 5 minutes later he was part of a group that got sued and he wasn't involved. That reassured me, but at the time he made it out to seem like I was lying and mistaken, and obviously had the wrong information and the wrong doctor, which was unnerving and insulting. Friends and family convinced me to move forward, saying that he probably didn't know that the claim was on his record, so I make the appointment for surgery. Fast forward 3 1/2 weeks, I get a call to reschedule my appointment that I made almost a month ago, took time out of my schedule and my family's schedule to accommodate me post surgery, due to a training. I found it very unprofessional, the woman on the phone just suggested we just cancel the surgery since I'm displeased, then hangs up on me. He could be a wonderful oral surgeon, but I thought his staff was rude and it was unprofessional to cancel surgery patients on such short notice. read more
