Sweet Satan. We tried six sweet things and each one was heavenly good. Not a single one was mediocre or had an off taste. Very sweet as these sorts syrup soaked delicacies should be, yet not too sweet as they often are. Went great with the simple coffees we got. The service was very friendly and happy. I can't vouch for the food here but the woman at the cashier/barista who works there is absolutely horrible! The place looked nice so we were in for a good experience and good mood when this woman cashier/barista ruined everything! She was giving such an attitude and did not want to answer/explain any of my questions about their item on the menu(their tea). The turkish milk pudding here is divine! I have an unhealthy obsession with it now. The lady serving can be a little more cheerful and less intimidating, but easy to overlook once you try their desserts. Stay away from the carrot cake- it tastes bland and dry. read more

A friend of mine lives in the neighborhood and her father actually pointed this little place out to us. It's located on the side of the Coney Island boardwalk, so it was a great place to break after our long stroll. My friends got their coffee, which they fell in love with. I got the olive and cheese pastry. It was great! Very soft and warm, not too flaky. My friend also got the pistachio turkish delight (which she bought for her parents), we ended up eating the entire box. She had to buy another one for her parents and an extra one for herself. The service was great and very warming. Definitely would come back if it weren't so out of the way (from where I live). read more

A friend recommended this place. Everything is so delicious and reasonably priced. The staff accommodated the mix-n-match of various baklava and Rahat Lokum that I wanted. They have many different kinds of Rahat Lokum; my favorite is the pomegranate with pistachios. Will come back again. read more

Would give this place 0 star if I could. Horrendous does not even come close to describing the service here. Slow, rude, and downright unprofessional. Ordered a medium americano and a piece of chestnut baklava ($3.75 total for dine in) and was charged almost $6. I didn't think taxes and gratuities would add up to that much so I asked for the receipt. Lo and behold they refused to give me one. I asked how much the tax was and got yelled at, "In the United States you have to pay taxes... what do you want?" Wow, just wow. I did not come here to be treated like an idiot. The space is a nice and cozy--perfect for meeting friends and having some yummy snacks. Prices are reasonable. The best baklava I've had in a long time. They also have what in English is called "Turkish bagel" (simmit in Turkish), and that is also delicious. I went for the first time today and tried five different Baklava. The "special" was my favorite (pretty sure it was a pistachio walnut mix). Sweets are pretty good. Regular coffee lacks flavor (too watery). Haven't tried their Turkish coffee yet.

Gulluoglu is a household name in desserts in Turkey. The store has a large selection of traditional desserts. Durum (pistachio roll) is one of my favorites. I would recommend coming here in the morning or brunch and trying a pocha with feta cheese and Turkish black tea. read more

Used to be nice place. Not any more. The service became crappy. People who work their do not pay attention to the customers. Recently, we ordered cappuccino it was not even close. It tasted like a regular coffee with milk. Another time instead of skim milk they put regular milk into the coffee. Even when we asked a whole wheat simit they put a regular one into a paper bag. The service is highly none professional. I do not think that I'll go there again. read more

First time here and loved it. Had veggie omelet, which was well done and brought to me by a chef himself (a kind gentlemen) and cappuccino was very good. The older lady was very patient with my order (I was indecisive) and a young girl behind the counter was sweet too. The customer service was excellent, which is such a delight to have on the midst of Brighton Beach area (where many Russian speaking establishments are so rude ). Next time I'm in this neighborhood I'll definitely stop by for a coffee and pastries). Their Rahat lokum looks fresh. read more

I used to really like this place, their food is tasty and all but boy... what terrible service. I went there the other day and ordered a flavored tea to stay. I asked for more hot water to be added to the kettle, I like my tea a bit more dilute. The server says to me "this much water is for one person and if I add more to reach the top of the kettle then it will be more money since that's like tea for two people." This was just unbelievable, I mean really, how much can two extra inches of hot water cost? When I went back to work it took me a while to get over this. This just isn't normal at all. I am not making up any part of this. There have been a few other instances when I wasn't treated particularly "warmly" by other servers at this establishment but this is outrageous. It was a very good place at their old location, just across the street from the recent one. The service was excellent and turkish coffee was just almost perfect. At new location service and quality dropped slightly but was OK. I personally have recommended this place to all and everyone I knew. Until today at 12:35 PM. Starting from that very moment I will recommend to all and everybody to avoid this establishment at any cost. I was there with my wife who, as usual, sat at the table while I order coffee. I was standing in front of servers waiting to order but was ignored by all 3 of them for 7 minutes while they choose to serve other customers. When, finally, I was able to approach one of them, a guy, who also helps as a cashier, and asked for two coffees, he YELLED at me "I AM BUSY!!!" Excuse me, but that was a FIRST. Never before in this country have I encountered such open and blatant rudeness toward a paying customer. Because of that behavior I shall never step inside of this establishment and will do whatever I can to let others know about it. I helped them to accrue some customers, now I'll do exactly the opposite. read more
