Really a 5 star place but I gave 4 because I want to give them room to grow. This is a cozy spot with indoor dining and take out. It looks very clean and the service was amazing. They even brought my food out to me because I wasn't parked legally and had my kids in the car. I ordered 2 falafel sandwiches, a falafel salad, and a That - Chicken Shawarma for my son. The sandwich was vegan, full of flavor, and a great portion. I actually ate both of them. My wife said the salad was amazing. She didn't even need the dressing. My son devoured his plate while growling, never coming up for air until finished. So I guess it was pretty good. Tried this hole in the wall place before seeing a movie and wanted to try their falafel. It is freshly made so you may have to wait awhile for your order. Got their falafel pita sandwich with all the trimmings and the tahini sauce was extra special. Not sure how many falafel balls but its more than 3..but for the price of 13 dollars and change, yes you can get a better deal somewhere. I love coming to Holy Pita whenever I'm in this neck of the woods. They have some of the best hummus around; it's like silk on your tongue. I'm a huge fan of eggplants so I always recommend the sabich sandwich ($12) or the Iraqi malawach ($12), or the hummus + eggplant + egg plate ($11). These three options are more or less the same thing, with the only difference being the vehicle in which the eggs and amba and fried eggplant are delivered to you. If you want the most flavorful pita, dips and spreads... Look no further. Let's just start with how cute this place is. There is a really cute outdoor backyard seating area which is perfect for a date on a beautiful day. I tried the chicken Shawarma pita and was seriously in heaven. There was so much flavor in just the chicken alone but with everything else added in, my taste buds were having a party. The Israeli salad is so amazing from here. I also really love the falafel and could've had about 20 of them. All of the sauces I tried were incredible. Top 3 falafel sandwiches in the city without a doubt. Reminded my wife and I of the falafel wrap we had in Jerusalem a couple of years back. They really take care to layer the falafel and the ingredients so every bite has all the toppings inside. Really nice staff, super accommodating to families with infant/toddlers. Nice owner as well, makes you want to see the place do well. It's likely a bit out of the way in terms of being off Myrtle Ave or close to the subway, but worth making the walk over. Environment: Very laid back- the inside is a bit small with just a few tables but that's okay since the backyard/outdoor seating is absolutely awesome! Picnic style tables along with some smaller seats around some tables make this overall vibe of the outdoor seating area super energetic! Service: There seems to be only two people who runs the restaurant- the owner and the cook! For two people, they definitely dish out some awesome dishes in a reasonable amount of time! Ambience nice. Quiet for a Saturday afternoon. I ordered kabeh and falafel. I dont have much to compare this to. Ingredients seemed super fresh, cooked so it held together just right and didn't crumble upon the first bite. I asked for more hot sauce which probably dominated the natural taste of the food. Id say they use the highest quality ingredients for sure. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again (went to horrorcon) but if i was a local i could see this being my regular spot. Guy at front counter was nice enough, i sat outside until it drizzled. When someone brings out my food im used to them asking if i have everything i need or if theres something missing. That didnt happen here. No utensils given which is fine, im not a diva but to assume someone wants to eat with their hands without asking is interesting. Music selection was upbeat. So the trek out here was no joke. No train goes out here and you'd probably be walking minimum a mile to the nearest one if you need . The trek is worth it though I must say . I took an order of chicken shawarma to go and the owner Josh , was nice enough to let me try a falafel as a treat for a first timer . I'll say this of the bat , the falafel is out of this world !Easily the best I've ever had, although I've maybe had it from about ten spots or so perhaps I'm no pro . It was juicy , right amount of salt , perfect crunch , perfect chew , perfect flavor and not oily . I received the falafel some time after placing my order or I would've ordered that instead of my chicken shawarma that I ended up eating later in the day . The chicken shawarma was no slouch at all though . The bread/ pita was exceptional . Super fresh and good sized and again great flavor . The chicken had some curry flavoring and was loaddd with some good veggies . Personally , I'd prefer my chicken cut in larger chunks in a sandwich and have slightly less sauce inside of it, but that's my only nitpick . I'd rate the sandwich a solid 4.5/5 . I'd say this is a super solid spot despite the limited things I tried . The owner is so cool you'd want to support the business after speaking with him and for that this place gets 5 stars from me . Chicken shawarma and the schnitzel are two of my favorite main meals . The fries is so good I have to say . Sumac fries , never had it like that before. Falafel sandwich is also good and the pita itself is always fresh and tasty . Pita the dog is also very cool . Heaters in the little outdoor area , Everything is neat and clean . I'm so mad at myself for not trying Holy Pita sooner. It's an avenue block away from us, every time I biked by it I thought "I need to try that", and yet, months go by...but that's over now. We just got a lunch delivery of their falafel sandwiches and sumac fries, and they were *fantastic*. I had previously found a spot in Clinton Hill that had solid falafel, enough to scratch an itch, but not amazing. When we wanted amazing we schlepped to our favorite places in Manhattan. That is now over, as Holy Pita has fantastic falafel. Even after delivery, the falafel was still really crunchy and salad in the pita totally delicious. Flavors perfectly balanced, textures great with both crunch and a little acidity in the salad, and tons of flavor in the falafel itself. We ordered three items to share, and it was more than enough for two people. Moraccon cigars: ground spiced meat in phyllo dough. Deliciously flaky with a hint of sweetness and served with a layered sauce of cool and spicy. Falafel: topped with a tahini and hot sauce. Great mix of flavors. Staying in Bed- Stuy since my daughter delivered a baby last Saturday. Needed a night off from cooking and Holy Pita called to me. Exceptional Israeli food and I highlight, EXCEPTIONAL. Went to Holy Pita on a Tuesday afternoon with a friend. Place was mostly empty besides a group of men who seemed like regulars. We sat in the backyard since it was nice out. Place looked spotless, clean, and tidy. There's wall art outside the establishment and in the backyard, which gave it a retro vibe. I dont remember seeing any lights hanging outside in the backyard but that would give it a nice feel in the evenings probably. I ordered a spicy shawarma and my friend ordered the Sabich sandwich with fries. I got a soda drink- which I liked the black cherry soda (I got 3 refills). Let me just say this shawarma had a good balance of meat and pickled veggies that I liked. And it was packed well into the pita and it was the first time that I ate a shawarma that didn't fall apart all over the place due to the juiciness of the meat or sauce. My friend liked her Sabich sandwich which included veggies, salad, and boiled egg as protein. We shared the fries, they seemed to have a brownish spice on them but I didn't taste anything- it came with a nice sour-sweet dipping sauce. They could add salt on the fries. Lol. The owner(I think) was the one who took our order. He was a very friendly man who gave us a falafel each while we waited for our food! The falafel was super yummy! Def the best Israeli food I've personally had. He asked us where we were from and was nice but my friend who said her father was from Palestine- he made a little joke about it. The prices went up a bit since covid - $15 for Chicken Shwarma Pita (at least compared to $13 listed on Yelp) - but people didn't seem to mind.
