Falafel
Kathy T.

Grabbed takeout lunch here - 2 falafels. Didn't order the spicy sauce because wasn't sure about if it'd be too much. But the super sweet guy behind the counter said he'd give me one to try, and then when it was time to go, said I needed two! Delicious and wrapped well so we could eat it while driving around Brooklyn.

I keep wanting to like this place because middle eastern food is my favorite, but for some reason, every dish is always a little off. Been here two or three times now and not as into their falafel sandwich and chicken shawarma platter as I thought. Their hummus is creamy and good and their fluffy pita is delicious, but everything is a little oddly spiced, and I think I've gotta sadly move on.

Tried this hole in the wall place before seeing a movie and wanted to try their falafel. It is freshly made so you may have to wait awhile for your order. Got their falafel pita sandwich with all the trimmings and the tahini sauce was extra special. Not sure how many falafel balls but its more than 3..but for the price of 13 dollars and change, yes you can get a better deal somewhere. But the sandwich came out hot and fresh so its worth the wait.

Really delicious!! They give a ton of food. Honestly, I'd be back. The food took a while to make about 30 mins. I got the chicken shawarma, falafels, fries, and a pita. They have really nice inside seating, alcoholic drinks, tea, juices. It's a cute spot!

I love coming to Holy Pita whenever I'm in this neck of the woods. They have some of the best hummus around; it's like silk on your tongue. I'm a huge fan of eggplants so I always recommend the sabich sandwich ($12) or the Iraqi malawach ($12), or the hummus + eggplant + egg plate ($11). These three options are more or less the same thing, with the only difference being the vehicle in which the eggs and amba and fried eggplant are delivered to you. They also have the cutest outdoor space to eat and enjoy the weather too!

The food was excellent and authentic. The portions were relatively generous and the pita was super fresh. We ordered Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, Holy Moly Pita Sandwich, Iraqi Malawach, and hummus and tahini. Everything was very flavorful and fresh. The veggies tasted and felt fresh. Good all around and I would certainly come back. The dog Pita is also an adorable staple of the restaurant and will certainly make good use of any scraps you don't want.

Holy Pita, You did it! The falafels are the best in The city! Flavors are dynamic and the menu options give you lots to explore on future visits. To add, the Date Shake was AMAZING, so good it was giving me ALL the serotonin. The staff was great, very friendly and helpful. There is even a cool outdoor space with a lounge area, dart game and corn-hole boards to play. I had a great time on my visit! There's lots of room to invite groups of friends and intimate enough for smaller meetups/dates. *Wink* You have to visit Holy Pita when you can. I'm telling you; you won't find a better falafel. Trust me!

If you want the most flavorful pita, dips and spreads... Look no further. Let's just start with how cute this place is. There is a really cute outdoor backyard seating area which is perfect for a date on a beautiful day. I tried the chicken Shawarma pita and was seriously in heaven. There was so much flavor in just the chicken alone but with everything else added in, my taste buds were having a party. The Israeli salad is so amazing from here. I also really love the falafel and could've had about 20 of them. All of the sauces I tried were incredible. I definitely want to come back for more because I have been craving it ever since I had it. Another spot that I highly recommend and suggest to anyone who loves tons of flavors. The staff were super friendly, along with the owner who I met as well!

Food: Absolutely delicious! Was trying to find a place for a group of us to eat near the area and after much searching (nothing was quite grabbing my attention and had the ability to seat and serve a group of 5 during COVID) I stumbled upon Holy Pita and was immediately sold! We ordered a variety of dishes and each and every one of them were amazing- and of course the homemade hummus was out of this world! This place does not skimp on the tahini which makes Holy Pita's hummus extremely smooth and rich! Cost: Very reasonable for the food you are getting (also the portion sizes are pretty big and will definitely fill you up!) Environment: Very laid back- the inside is a bit small with just a few tables but that's okay since the backyard/outdoor seating is absolutely awesome! Picnic style tables along with some smaller seats around some tables make this overall vibe of the outdoor seating area super energetic! Service: There seems to be only two people who runs the restaurant- the owner and the cook! For two people, they definitely dish out some awesome dishes in a reasonable amount of time! Fantastic service! Uniqueness: The best part of Holy Pita is the owner- he is super friendly and when I told him that this was my first time here, he was great at pointing out what dishes he would recommend we try (even though they're all delicious)! Definitely a place I plan to come back to visit not only because of the food but also the owner! Thank you for such an awesome experience! :)

Falafel

Ambience nice. Quiet for a Saturday afternoon. I ordered kabeh and falafel. I dont have much to compare this to. Ingredients seemed super fresh, cooked so it held together just right and didn't crumble upon the first bite. I asked for more hot sauce which probably dominated the natural taste of the food. Id say they use the highest quality ingredients for sure. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again (went to horrorcon) but if i was a local i could see this being my regular spot. Guy at front counter was nice enough, i sat outside until it drizzled. When someone brings out my food im used to them asking if i have everything i need or if theres something missing. That didnt happen here. No utensils given which is fine, im not a diva but to assume someone wants to eat with their hands without asking is interesting. Music selection was upbeat. Easy to find parking nearby

One word to describe the food here is authentic! I am always a bit skeptical to try Middle Eastern food since I lived there for a few years, and traveled to a few countries in the region as well. This is hands down the best shawarma and hummus I've had in a while. The location is a bit out the way, but it is worth the travel. Thank me in advance.

The food is incredible!!!! Mediterranean cuisine at its finest. Amazing flavors in a beautiful restaurant. The owner Maurice and Chef Ervin are wonderful and take enormous pride in what they do. The location is gorgeous and has an outdoor area that is also gorgeous. Everything here is so fresh and I love trying new things. There were so many things I tried I never even heard of! This place has something for everyone.

The restaurant is certainly clean and I like how it's in the open so you can see all the action and cleanliness. I ordered their falafel whole pita sandwich and was told I can add whatever choosing I wanted. I also ordered two sides of their falafel balls to enjoy. They were 3 balls for $1. As for the sandwich, I thought it only tasted okay. I was very hungry at that point so if I thought my sandwich was okay then I know I'm not a fan of it. The flavoring was bland, I asked for spicy sauce but didn't taste any. I also asked for the fried eggplants to find out as I'm biting into it that there was none. Make sure you watch them when asking for your choosing. They might now hear you and you'll just end up feeling disappointed like me because I love the taste of eggplants. Regarding the falafel ball, I thought it was too doughy. I usually like them a little more loose and garlicy.

The team here is so friendly and they're good at giving you a heads up of how long orders will take. The food is a fantastic deal as you get a lot of it for the price, and it's always perfectly seasoned. What I've tried so far: - the falafel platter - the lamb platter - the steak sandwich - a number of juices and smoothies The falafel platter - INCREDIBLE deal for the amount of food. Only $11 for falafel, a salad, hummus, and pita. The falafel aren't dry and overall they're well seasoned. The only thing this is missing is their rice (which is amazing on its own). The lamb platter - I like this included super flavorful rice. Generous portion of meat. Definitely heavier than the falafel platter. Steak sandwich - SO good. They have some kind of secret sauce that ties everything together. Portion was smaller than the platters (easier to get through in one sitting) and this was probably the best thing I tried on the menu. It does say it comes with a side salad but we never got one. Would be better with a salad to balance out the steak+bread. Smoothies and juices - very fresh and tasty. Overall, we're very happy we found this cute neighborhood falafel spot :)

This time I had the mushroom and onion hummus, which was a little watery and only came with one small piece of pita for a large bowl. I also got the fries, which are still actually pretty good. The reason for the steep downgrade aside from the dwindling food quality and the so-so drinks, is the service this time was just ATROCIOUS. Bushwick service has gotten kinda cruddy overall these days because so many places have this transplant hipster vibe where they just can't be bothered, but this guy acted annoyed and put out to even be there. It was not great last time, but this time was astonishingly bad. He took my order and as soon as my food came out, he disappeared behind a screen and didn't come back out unless someone came in the door (which was only a couple times). Never checked on me. Never asked if I wanted another drink (my mint julep was awful, so moot point I guess). I had to wait for him to emerge when a to go order came in for me to flag him down for the check. We initially planned to go…read moreto Miriam next door, since the other person had been to the Upper West Side location and enjoyed it. Still, they were working on it, so we decided to go to their sister, more casual spot instead, with me, in hindsight, being happy because I liked this more than Miriam (at least the UWS location.) The place is casual, with a warm and inviting atmosphere, and I can see it being very popular for lunch or brunch. The service was friendly as well. We both decided to get the Israeli Experience for $32 each, though they warned us it was a lot of food and we could split it. We did indeed take home some leftovers, and it was a terrific deal. Said experience is a comprehensive sampling of their menu, featuring two skewers, five salads, hummus, tahini, and two pitas, served with a choice of yellow rice or French fries, with the salads and skewers being our choice from the menu. Since we were going to share a few cold mezzes/salads, we decided to get fries and rice. The fries were well portioned, with a light crisp, while some were a bit soft. I found the rice, as expected, to be a better accompaniment, as it's lighter and goes well with the sauces. The pita bread was warm but standard and presumably store-bought. For the salads, our favorite of the bunch was probably the Spanish Eggplant, listed as fried eggplant tossed in tomato & pepper sauce. This was very similar (if not the same) as Turkish Soslu patlıcan, so I'm not sure why it's listed as Spanish unless they're Spanish eggplants or something. All naming aside, this was very tasty, with the eggplant both very garlicky and soft, but not too much that it lacked texture. I also liked the Moroccan Carrot, listed as thinly sliced carrots cooked & marinated in Moroccan spices. I have seen this in a few Moroccan places, such as in Astoria, and this was good. The carrots were soft, and the spice blend had a slight tang among other flavors. I would also recommend this. I am not usually the biggest fan of Israeli Salad, which is made here with chopped cucumber, tomatoes, scallions, parsley, and za'atar lemon vinaigrette, but this was good. I believe there was a bit of tahini or something similar in the dressing, which made it a bit more flavorful than the usual version, and all the vegetables are very fresh. This was better than expected and good. The Hummus was pretty good. I like some other spots with thicker hummus or a bit more kick, but it was still tasty. The same can be applied to the Tahini, which was standard but good. More standard and tasty was the Purple Cabbage. Nothing particularly special, but it was good, and they appear to have updated since I had it last, adding beets and roasted sesame seeds, which sounds like a pleasant addition. The Kale and Dried Apricot Salad with winter kale, dried apricots, and roasted almonds dressed with house vinaigrette was fine. I'm a bit biased here as I don't like kale, but there were plenty of crunchy almonds. However, I wish there were more apricots, and the dressing didn't mask the kale as much as I'd like. I wasn't a fan of the Corn Salad with grilled corn, red pepper, and jalapenos. The dish should probably be served warm, since the cold grilled corn had an unappetizing texture and flavor when mixed with the pepper. It reminded me a bit of a dip gone wrong. This was easily my least favorite, and neither of us finished it. The skewers were pretty good but more standard. In terms of options, each of us got a Harissa Salmon, he chose a Chicken Thigh, and I got a Ground Beef & Lamb Kofta. The fish was surprisingly tender, but I found the harissa to be only very mild, which was a bit surprising given how red the dish looked. He seemed to enjoy his chicken skewer, while the kofta was alright. I have had much more flavorful kofta before, but at least it wasn't dry, with the meat being pretty juicy. The "experience" reminded me of a much better version of Kashkaval Garden in Hell's Kitchen, minus the fondue, of course. It's essentially the same price point as getting the salmon from there, but it has many pluses. The side dishes are much better and more varied, the skewers are smaller but much more tender and less overcooked, and the portion size is much larger. This doesn't even include the large portion of rice or salad, which isn't included there. I didn't love everything here, but it's hard to deny this deal, especially in this fancy neighborhood.

Please bring back the old sides, the new carrot heavy options aren't a great replacement and we…read morewere disappointed with our last order. Otherwise big fans.
