I ordered a variety of dishes and all were very good. Definitely recommend the Khachapuri. Also, reasonably priced. Finally, the service was very friendly.

Pretty good spot! This is my second time having Georgian food and my boyfriend and I were pretty obviously not Georgian so our server was super patient with us and explained how to properly eat the food. I wish I remembered the names of what we got but we got the dumplings and the cheese boat. Both were great, but also pretty filling. The dumplings were HUGE, almost the size of my palm and I couldn't eat more than one. The cheese bread boat was delicious but definitely would not be able to eat it alone. Recommend sharing it with one or two other friends. Also this place sometimes doesn't accept card so bring cash just in case!

I had a ukrainian friend recommend this place and it did not disappoint! The dumplings were awesome and massive, though I prefer a thinner skin. The breads were delicious and everything was unique. I've never had Georgian food before, but I am now a fan of it! Get that cheesy bread and ask for other recommendations. I'll have to be back and try the other things.

Only one couple was dining in on a cold Saturday afternoon. After 5pm, the cafe filled with customers representing an older demographic of Georgians & Eastern Europeans. A line to the bakery, adjacent to the cafe, to purchase fresh bread. Simple, casual decor in the cafe. Chill Georgian music playing in the background. Our waitress was accommodating, food was brought out quickly. Adjaruli khachapuri $12/$15 small/large, was the best adjaruli khachapuri I've ever had. Plenty of gooey cheese, fresh and delectable bread, great ratio of cheese to bread. Very filling--split this and you both will be full for the rest of the day. Sad that they no longer do the Yelp check in promotion. Taking off stars for the smelly bathroom. Staff smoke in there, and I though I'd suffocate from spending a few minutes in that tiny place. I started going dizzy from how heavily fumed it was. I reeked of cigarette smoke the whole day afterwards. How hard is it to take a smoke outside, in the fresh air?

Generally good and tasty Georgian food. Best to go with a group of people with whom you can share everything. Their pear flavored soda is a large bottle best shared with others, but it's also very sweet. We couldn't finish it. Best to sit indoors because the outdoor seating is on the street with high and fast traffic. Someone trying to park their car also bumped into the shed we were eating in and rocked the whole structure. It felt very dangerous to eat out there. We were also exposed to lots of smokers while eating outdoors, so it made the dining less enjoyable. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. He came out to check on us often and got us everything we asked for. Good service.

Overall I enjoyed the food here and thought it was very authentic. Our waiter didn't speak much English, which was fine, but I also couldn't find him half the time. We ordered this garlic chicken dish at his recommendation-- the sauce was delicious but the chicken was a tad dry. I liked their soup dumplings, which provided that perfect comfort food feel on a rainy day. Salad was fresh. We tried the cheese bread, I thought it was alright but a bit salty (all the dishes were a tad salty, actually) and heavy (but it'll definitely fill you up!).

I've had the khachapuri here before, but on this occasion, our megruli khachapuri tasted distinctively like a souped-up Dominoes pie, in the best way possible. A bit on the heavy side for a summer day, but thankfully accompanied by ocean breeze. The sour cherry juice was amazing - overly sweet, but somehow with a highly addictive tartness as well. Service is quite slow, so don't come here in a rush. The music was also "eclectic," consisting of slow jam remixes of Radiohead and other intriguing melanges...

The chatbostnili (a cold eggplant dish) was our favorite. It's so full of amazing flavor and goes well with the baked pies. The mushroom cheese called solo ketze was also very good. I usually don't eat meat but the chicken on the hot plate was not bad and pretty tender. The meat dumpling was too meaty for me.

This was, remarkably, my first time having a proper sit-down Georgian meal since I visited Tbilisi four years ago. This highly anticipated meal at Tone Cafe more than lived up to my expectations. We ordered the pkhali trio and a half serving of bread to start, as well as the khinkali dumplings with pork. By checking into Yelp, we also got a complimentary small khachapuri bread. Our order was more than enough for two people. The phkali trio, which comes with spinach, green bean, and eggplant mixes with ground walnuts and spices, was absolutely delicious. The fresh parsley and pomegranate seed toppings made all the difference. Eaten as a spread with the warm bread, the phkali have a nice heft that for one person could easily be a meal. We thoroughly enjoyed the khinkali dumplings. Our waitress helpfully suggested pork, rather than lamb, as the filling. Indeed, the pork broth was very flavorful. She also suggested that we eat the dumplings with our hands and biting into it carefully so as to not squirt the broth all over. Though larger and spiced more strongly, these were reminiscent of Shanghainese pork dumplings. We would happily return to Tone Cafe to try more dishes. Service was great and the ambience simple but lovely.

Khinkali - thick dough. Juicy but very little meat

On an unusually warm day in March, they set up the classy outdoor seating. I asked the server for recommendations - the menu is great for sharing and trying lots of different dishes, but I didn't want to overwhelm myself with too many calories. She was a gem and suggested: Eggplant Pkhali - I really love this vegan dip of eggplant, walnuts, roasted onion, garlic, coriander, pomegranate molasses, cilantro and pomegranate. It comes with fresh bread, that is crunchy outside and pillowy soft inside. It's perfection, refreshing, toothsome, and vegan! Khinkali - beef and pork soup dumplings were well folded, savory, and soupy on the inside. Red currant mocktails - pretty and refreshing! They also have an extensive wine, beer, and cocktail menu. I have also been here for lunch and had a number of other dips and salads and loved what I got. Chama Mama is great for a date or friends. I believe they will rent out the full restaurant for events. The vibe feels upscale yet simple, and everything is delicious. Prices are in the teens for appetizers and $30+ per entree. Recommend.

Beet salad was a hit served with big chunks of tender beets. I'm not sure if they boiled and chilled the beets or used another technique to soften them up, but it came out nicely. This time we opted for the khachapuri imeruli. It was delicious. I've yet to come across a khachapuri that I've disliked. Dough was crispy and flakey. Cheese was melty and gooey. Always such a cozy delight. We had the khinkali again - this time with cheese filling. It's a nice vegetarian friendly option, but I prefer the meat or vegetable blend fillings. Cheese in the khinkali was similar to the khachapuri, so it was redundant to order the two together. Would definitely recommend the khinkali but would pick a different filling if you're getting khachapuri. For the main course, we shared the shkmeruli - a roasted chicken in a creamy garlic sauce. I've seen this listed as chicken tabaka elsewhere. It was excellent! Less garlicky than the one I had a Saperavi earlier in the week. Chicken was juicy but the sauce was the star. We dipped the nipples of the khinkali in the sauce to maximize usage. Good list of Georgian wines. Full bar plus some beers including a Georgian one. Service brought out the dishes in a well paced manner. They were very patient as we lounged in their backyard. It was a very comfortable outdoor dining set up. There is one, spacious single occupancy restroom.

I loved it so much! I will come again. I didn't take any food pictures because I don't believe in food bloggers and my sausage fingers frequently prevent me from taking decent pictures. In the last few weeks, I have been to three Georgian restaurants, and this one may be the antithesis to everything I have tried up to this point. Because this restaurant is in Williamsburg, expect some hipster flair with some great food. Fortunately, Cheeseboat delivers on both fronts. This is the restaurant that introduced me to Khinkali, or Georgian soup dumplings. Six to a plate, these are outrageously, sinfully, delicious. Not terribly hot, but have terrific flavor that are not filling at all. Everybody should order these when they come here. The Shkmeruli is terrific as well. Full of flavor, amazing spice, the chicken is moist and juicy. I easily butchered this because I did not want to leave any meat on the bone. Unfortunately, the bread it comes with is a bit salty for my liking, but the chicken is the star, and that is why it can be recommended. Of course, you know what is coming next. I have been on the hunt for Khachapuri since I cannot get enough of this bread now. Everything I said previously I rescind (kidding), but seriously. This is dynamic. It is hot and stays hot. So much cheesy flavor and full of deliciousness I could not stop eating it. It is good for one person. This is not to be shared. I would like to take a moment to recognize my server, Liza, now. Pretty, exuberant, full of joy and confidence, with an intelligent aura around her, I think I fell in love with her each time she passed my table. Sonny from the film, "A Bronx Tale" once said every man meets three great women in their lifetime. Sometimes they come all once, sometimes they come around every 10 years. She is definitely someone who is going to make someone very happy one day. It was a joy to have her serve me. How often have I been giving out five star reviews lately? A lot, I know. However, you deserve the truth, and this restaurant does not tell a lie. Liza and all, this is the five star experience.
