Cute space! Bartenders only focused on people actually sitting at the bar and ignored the patrons standing around the bar for a good 10-12 min. My husband said if it wasn't for me wanting to try this place, he would have left. When we finally ordered, service was ok. Burger was well seasoned, slightly above average. We actually went down the steeet after we ate to get fries. The breakfast sandwich was a 9/10 very very good. I'm not sure if I would return. read more

We stopped in Sunday morning and it was busy, but we were able to get bar seating easily. I ordered the rigatoni and my husband ordered the ham and butter sandwich. The rigatoni was very solid, but the ham and butter sandwich was where it's at. If you've been to France and had a jambon beurre, that's what this is. It's fantastic. The bartender told me it was served cold, so that's why I didn't opt to get it myself. The baguette is toasted though, the insides are cold. It's the wonderful sel de mer butter too! It's a cute little place, prices weren't too bad. We will definitely be back. read more

Just tried this spot for a casual meal with a friend. Wasn't sure what to expect. The sesame noodles were really good. Served cold, but that was fine. Nice blend and just a hint of heat. Mushrooms ere tasty and I it was the perfect portion. (U did get the regular, nit small and it was just right. No leftovers but I wasn't stuffed.) My friend had the cheeseburger and she said it was perfect, best she's had in awhile. She added Grippi's bbq chips fur a small charge. Patio was nice. Shared our table with two other ladies. A small neighborhood bar with a menu that does not have one bad item. The sesame noodles are served cold and very tasty, the small was enough for us to share. We had the burger which was simple but a really good burger, hard to beat. The ham sandwich was unique with the butter but it was also really good. Lean ham, butter tasted rich and creamy, great bread. Service is at the bar and you pick your table or sit at the bar. Fast service and they were really busy, we came in at the end of a big surge of people and found seats at the bar, so it took a bit for the food, but we got to watch the first Raiders of the Lost Ark. all good. Mellow bar in Northside serving up great food from a limited but tempting menu. I opted for the sesame noodles and can't stop thinking about them. They were so good, I inhaled them before I could take a photo. The small serving is very generous but I want to go back for a larger serving one day soon. Fantastic good and drinks. This was my second visit and I brought friends because it's so tasty. But it was not quite as great as last time. The food was outstanding. Burgers, noodles, salmon sandwich, all were great! I had a side salad that was incredibly fresh and so perfectly balanced. A couple things disappointed this time - service and the lack of local draft beers, The bartenders seemed more interested in taking care of regulars at the bar vs anyone else. We waited 5 minutes for someone to take our order standing next to the bar while 'regulars' walked up, sat down and had their orders taken. I was so surprised by this - completely unlike my first experience here. Next up, local beers? There are some great locally owned breweries (e.g. Humble Monk) and they only offered two beers on tap. It's a missed opportunity for local businesses to support each other and to offer a better variety of draft beers. The food and drink are a FIVE. Our service experience was a ONE. So, I'd give this place a 3 based on my latest experience. read more

I really like Gulow Street, but my boyfriend LOOOOOVES it. It's a bit off the beaten path, but worth a detour. They don't have an extensive menu, but all that's on there is good. The BF is a huge fan of the burger... I don't know that over ever seen him order anything else. As for me, I think I've ordered almost everything on the menu or close to it. The egg sandwich is great. The rigatoni bolognese is delish. the salmon salad sandwich is delicious. My fave was the ham and butter sandwich, but I had them add pimento cheese to it, and that made it Oh! I haven't had the sesame noodles yet. Guess I know what I'm getting next time! read more

This place is a hidden jewel of NorthSide. My friend hipped me to this place and I am now a big fan. They have a great food menu, try the salmon salad sandwich, heavenly!!! It's so good. Gulow Street is located at the corner of Hoffner and you guessed it Gulow St. This place is small but mighty in terms of menu and space. This is a pub with some very creative seating out back which gives you dining options. You order at the bar and they give you a number and they bring the food out to you. The bar staff were nice and took time to explain things to us and took our orders and made recommendations, which was much appreciated. My wife opted for the Basil Paloma and loved it. She enjoys subtle drinks and this fit the bill. They have a nice selection of beers which is surprising considering the size of the place. We both chose the Cheeseburger and added bacon with me also adding chips, I love a sandwich with chips, and the food came out fairly quickly despite them being busy. This burger was juicy and enjoyable to say the least. The burger is a must have and made the night great. Tips to make your visit a success: 1) Don't forget about Happy hour. We went for Happy hour and the deals they offered can be passed on. Two dollar beer (Miller High Life) and Three dollar well drinks are right up my alley. 2) Wednesday is fried egg sandwich day. On Wednesdays they open at seven am and the serve breakfast. Don't miss out. This place will be your new go to spot in no time!! read more

My mom and I stopped in after reading about the sesame noodles in the paper. We were so happy we decided to come because the food and service was amazing! I ended up ordering a ham and apple sandwich, which was a special along with the sesame noodles. I cut off a piece of the sandwich for my dad and now he and my mom have plans to go there on Monday. The ham and cheddar sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! It also had mustard aioli and incredible Allez sourdough! The sesame noodles lived up the hype from the paper. They have the perfect amount of kick. I can tell the roasted sesame oil that they make it with is very high quality. I wish we ordered more. Overall, I will definitely be returning whenever I am back in Cincinnati. Thanks for giving me such a memorable meal! read more

Okay, I have to admit I don't make it to Northside very often at all and if not for @cincyeats on IG I may not have even heard about Gulow Street for quite some time just because I feel like Northside does a pretty good job of keeping their Hidden Gems, well, hidden (which I love, so I'm sorry if this messes with that vibe)! But because I love a great breakfast sandwich I ventured over this morning for their weekly (Wednesdays from 7-11a) breakfast sandwich morning and OH MY GOODNESS! This was one of THE BEST sandwiches (breakfast or not) that I've ever eaten! I ordered their Masala Egg Sandwich and it left me impatiently counting down the days until I can go back again for another! The flavors blended together seamlessly and tasted like they were always meant to belong together; the ciabatta was fresh and delicious; and the owner/staff were friendly and inviting. All of this to say that I 100% will not be sleeping on their regular dinner menu from now on! If the breakfast sandwich was as good as it was, I can't wait to try the rest! read more

Great, cheap burgers, but super rude service. We ordered food and a fancy drink and then went out to their patio, but never got the drink. After we were done eating I went inside to ask about the $12 drink and the bartender rolled her eyes and said, "what drink?" I was trying to be polite and asked for a refill on my coke, and she rolled her eyes about that, too. The place wasn't busy at all, no reason to be mean. When you order food, stick around and wait for your drink. Better yet, spend your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

A block or two off Hamilton Avenue is this quaint blink-and-you'll-miss it pub and grub. They've got some good cheap drink deals at Happy Hour and some high brow $$ cocktails as well. I have not yet had the pleasure of a meal here yet, but I will try back soon. read more

We just moved to Northside and are finding our way around the neighborhood. My husband spotted this gem and we walked up and ordered a drink and takeout. The place is adorable, great wallpaper and wainscoting on the walls, the bar seats are comfortable and plentiful and the drink we ordered, Basil Paloma $9 Tequila Blanco, Grapefruit Soda, Basil Simple, Tajin, was amazing and refreshing. The wait staff was busy and very helpful. We left with 2 cheeseburgers, the Rigatoni Bolognese, and the cold sesame noodle app. We loved every bite of these items. My 13 year old said it was the best burger she has had, we both loved the sesame noodles--light, but with an amazing sesame flavor and a hint of spice--I am hooked. The bolognese was so well done, pasta was Al dente and the sauce was a perfect balance of flavors. We will be regulars. read more
