We had a small (75 ft) backyard chain link fence job and contacted 3 fence companies. We went with Gun Hill because they were the most responsive, gave a written quote after an in-person site visit, and their price matched the other viable candidate. (Third candidate was way underpriced - always a red flag.) We're very happy we did. Gun Hill arrived on time, did the job in a professional, solid manner, cleaned the site (part of our quote but 'clean' doesn't mean the same thing to everyone...) and were on their way. The installation crew was professional and considerate. They had to walk through our home to access the backyard; we put down paper to protect the floor and moved some furniture and they hauled in all their tools and machinery and hauled out old chain link fencing and scrap, and not a ding in sight. They took attention to detail and figured out a very complicated solution on a rocky, uneven fence line that was shared property of neighbor. Not an easy task and they really did a great job. I spoke with Ralph during the week and we scheduled an appointment for today, Saturday, September 20 at 7:00am. He said this was the only time slot he had. I was up at 6:00am and ready for Ralph just before 7:00am but Ralph never showed. I called his cell number at around 7:40am and got his voicemail. I left a message but have yet to hear back. Needless to state, I am disappointment as I really wanted my backyard fence patched. I was thinking that replacing two sides of the backyard fence would make the most sense. I bought a house with a jungle growing along my driveway which comprised metal and wood fencing from 1950 with vines and poison ivy growing wildly situated on a narrow 18 inch base. Then I met the installers who transformed my property during ice cold conditions with exceptional expertise, keeping me in the loop of every move they made and asked for my input throughout the install. When the salesman finally showed he took measurements and told me the company would get back to me with a price which they never did. Horrible business practices. A person from Gun Hill Fence gave me a written estimate for supplying and installing a chain link fence and for repairing an existing fence door and pole that is currently on my property. When I contacted them to tell them that I accept their price for the repair of my existing fence door and pole but I do not want to install new fence right now, the price of my repair was changed from $110 to $375, a very big difference. Obviously, I did not hire them to do the job. I would not recommend this company! read more

I had a most unpleasant experience with Gun Hill Fence. I was requesting a quote on the installation of a fence on a rental property in the Bronx. They came out took the measurements and I did not hear back from them. I placed a follow up call and was told they are very busy and would provide the quote. About two weeks later I placed another follow up call and was told it would be a few more days. I then received a call giving me a $4300 quote. I requested the quote in writing. Days later I received a written $4800 quote explaining they left the existing gate removal out. I then asked what was the next step with moving forward and was told it would be another week or two to get started. I became frustrated with the entire process and called the main office requesting to speak to the manager/ owner. The Office Manager Joseph asked if he could help then requested that I send him an email explaining my concern. When I asked why do I need to send an email he stated we do not want your business and hung up. I called back and asked to speak to the owner and he hung up again.
