I took an Intermediate Pistol Course earlier this month with Matt and Ben leading the class -- both were phenomenal instructors. Each instructor had their own philosophy and methodology with handling and tactics. I appreciate that they also brought their "real world" experiences into our group discussions. Since the instructors have LE and Military backgrounds, better perspectives and examples are shared with the class which is an added bonus for those who are learning new concepts or strategies. The course I took was at Field Sports Park on the border of South San Jose and Morgan Hill. We had a private section of the park which worked nicely for our intimate class size of 10. The class started at 9am and ran a little bit past 3pm. We completed drills as a class and did some additional work in smaller group sizes of 1:5. I enjoyed the session so much that I signed up for 1:1 instruction for a new weapon I just purchased. Signing up is easy. Just browse through the course offerings on the website, select and pay for the course you want to take (check for prerequisites), and Adriana (I believe she's the Operations Manager) will respond to you promptly with all the details you need. By the way, Adriana has been an absolute pleasure to work with -- she's responsive and really great with answering questions. Overall, there's a pretty awesome team running this business. She covered everything in a clear, structured, and easy-to-follow way-starting with fundamental gun safety rules, then walking us through pistol parts, operation, and safe handling. Halfway through the session, Kelly came over to review our targets and gave each of us personalized, practical feedback on how to improve and what to focus on for better results-I loved that level of attention. What really made the experience exceptional was the variety of firearms she brought for us to try, including the Springfield Echelon 9mm, H&K P2000, Sig Sauer P320, Glock 19, and Smith & Wesson M&P22. Being able to compare different models in one session was incredibly valuable and helped me better understand what I might want to purchase in the future. I booked a 2 person training with GMC training this past Monday. 1 person has never actually…read moreheld/fired a firearm (Video games do not count) 1 person is solid proficient but wants to take it to the next level...competition shooting. Gabe engaged both individuals with regard to safety, awareness, clearing malfunctions, stance, grip, sights and target focus...and the last 2-3 hours spent running drills through a stage that he set up. Movement and agility could be practiced, modified, sped up, adding layered motion and actions. All the while, Gabe is watching and identifying what could be done to get to where you need to be..unload, reload, get your stance right, and hit your mark. There was never any awkwardness. Any and all questions were asked without reservation. Gabe brings his enthusiasm and respect for the sport and discipline to the range. His clear communication and knowing how to string steps together to achieve fluid motion and muscle memory made both students want to learn more, be accurate and speed up! I cannot say enough fantastic things about this training...except that I'd love to have a full day session with a lunch break and more time to run drills at different stages...but to be honest, it was intense....and I started to get tired. In fact, today is the day after and every muscle in my body aches. This means..I went ALL IN. It says a lot when an instructor can motivate and have you digging deep to pull out all your effort and focus. I took my first handgun skill builder course with Josh, Mike and Steven this past weekend. They were all extremely friendly and did an absolutely awesome job instructing the class. The top priority is always safety with LDC and it definitely does not go unnoticed. I truly appreciate the way that they communicated with everyone; information is very streamlined and truly a great transfer of knowledge. I will continue to take classes with LDC and recommend them to all of my friends and family! Everything from start to finish was nothing short of amazing. The 8 hours of classroom time was extremely informative with real world situations which made it relatable and fun. The information was all clearly explained which made it extremely easy to digest. I feel truly thankful for all of the assistance/coaching that I received from the entire LDC team. We had the luxury of working with Joe, Archie, Mike and Roman; they were an absolute class act all around. The time on range was extremely safe and an absolute blast.
