I found Gunkraft to be a very well-rounded program with the right curriculum to certify potential ccw holders. What most people tend to overlook is the level of responsibility, situational awareness, and gray areas of the law that one must be receptive to and accept when being a ccw holder. This is just as important, if not more vital, then just knowing how to put rounds down range. That being said, Robin runs his business and program with very effective learning methodologies. The class is interesting - invokes needed discussion, and most importantly it will refresh your memory, if not introduce new learnings and considerations when it comes to navigating the law, consequences, situational awareness, and safety. I have never heard of any ccw certification programs that cover the depth of material I learned. You can't put a price on your life. And Robin also improves all of his classes by asking candid questions on what can be improved. I have no doubt that the current day curriculum is the result of said feedback that yields such an engaging environment. Absolutely no buyer's remorse with Gun Kraft's CCW class. Robin's (instructor) CCW class was informative, affordable, and engaging for a 16-hour course. I went into the weekend course thinking it would be another "Gun Handling 101" course paired with some range time to meet my county's qual requirements. I left the course with a completely different prospective (for the better) thanks to Robin's excellent delivery of curriculum as well as real life experiences. Robin spares no expense when it comes to course material; on day 1 you are greeted with Gun Kraft stickers, different holsters and airsoft handguns for appendix AND OWB practice carry. A few classroom hours later, Robin keeps the class engaged with some useful range time with helpful drills as well as your CCW weapons qual. exam. Day 2 was a full classroom lecture day, but the materials presented and Robin's delivery keep the whole class engaged without the need for "Red Bulls". I particularly enjoyed the all-encompassing approach that Robin took with his course, covering everything from best holsters/ammo to carry to analysis of real-life scenarios to a basic understanding of trauma care (great refresher since it has been nearly 10 years since my EMT-Basic training). Do note; read through his website and emails completely. I completely missed the fact that weapons qual. was on day 1; not a big deal, but I should have prepared better (bring extra ammo & mags, zero in optics, and practice more with my least fired firearm). With that being said, Robin is completely invested in more people getting their CCWs. A prime example is during the range session, he is constantly giving pointers to attendees on on how to improve recoil management, safe presentation (from holster) and accuracy. Great San Mateo Co. CCW class Aug. 2023 I took the Gun Kraft SMC CCW course a few days ago. There were applicants for Contra Costa CCW in addition to SMC. The class was excellent, with 3 hours on the range then 5 in class. We got to try different types of holsters, drawing when seated and other aspects of concealment. The equipment was first class. They handed out earbuds to hear instructor audio and these were inserted under the over-the-ear muffs and this worked great to hear Robin's comments to each student. For classroom, each participant had their own flashlight, an OWB holster and practice pistol as well as an IWB with pistol and spare magazine (see photo). I just wrapped up a CCW permit training with Gun Kraft over the weekend, and it was worth every penny. Robin knows his stuff and clearly has a passion for the material. The curriculum was straight-to-the-point and very thorough. We went beyond just using a weapon for self-defense and dove into practical material that "you don't know you don't know". Examples: holster types, tips for drawing from different positions, clothing choices, and secondary EDC items that are worth carrying. There was also a really packed section on emergency medical equipment. This is a subject I'm familiar with already, but I learned about a tourniquet type that I didn't previously know about, which has some significant advantages over the standard CAT version. Robin really excelled in breaking down tactics for different scenarios, keeping it engaging and relatable. His approach made everything feel very accessible and his training style (especially on the range) keeps everything very orderly and easy to follow. Value for money? Definitely. The amount of knowledge and skills picked up during the course far outweighed the cost, I definitely felt I got more than I paid for. I took a contra costa county ccw course with Robin at Gun Kraft, he is very thorough, he goes over elements of both concealed and target shooting that you never knew about. He meticulously watches your stance and method and constructively breaks it down and improves it on the spot. I had a huge selection of approved CCW certification and firearm trainers to choose from. Some were cheaper, some were more expensive. Some were only a ten minute drive from my home and offered dates that didn't coincide with Super Bowl weekend. However, after speaking with them all, I decided to go with Robin at GunKraft. I actually learned a lot from this 16 hour 2 day course. What I liked is how we went over the types of holster carry and how to draw from each type to see which one we are comfortable with.
