I considered going to the Subaru dealer in Beaverton but I gravitated to Brock Automotive because of their stellar, glowing reviews. Glad I did. First, scheduling online is easy and they text you confirmations and reminders. They also respond to texts quickly and efficiently. Note that you will likely need to drop off your vehicle as they are very busy - another good sign! - and though I needed to leave my Subaru overnight, the repairs were done in a reasonable amount of time for the services required. What I also like is their system of 'needs attention, could wait, and doesn't need work' that is color-coded on their estimate sheet by Red, Yellow, and Green; as well the costs for the repairs are clear on that sheet. You can then decide what you want done, approve it, and they will begin the work on your car. My estimate is just what I paid, so zero surprises. Immediately walking in to their shop office, I was greeted cheerily and nicely by Coy--I felt comfortable and relaxed. Picking up my car, I was greeted by an owner, who was equally as cheerful and nice. My car was waiting for me right out front when I exited the office - everything was clean just as I'd left it. The after hours drop off and pick up is seamless and really easy, which I appreciated. They charged $300 to diagnose, which seemed high, but I didn't want to tow my car to another shop, so I accepted that. They got my car back to me five days later, and the alternator worked great but a dash light had come on for a bulb which was not burned out. I replaced the bulb but the light persisted. I asked the shop about looking at it, and I was advised well, we'll run some tests, which sounded to me like another $300 diagnosis. So, the alternator repair was good, but now I have a permanent dash light on until I can find a shop to take it to. All in all, I'd say they are an OK shop.

I got my car in the next day and they worked on it for about a week and a half replacing the head gaskets, AC Compressor, and CVT pump reseal. They gave me a couple upgrades on the house that were very appreciated. Two weeks after my car's "open heart surgery" as Jon called it, we drove to Boise and back with no issues :) So grateful to have a knowledgeable Subaru shop nearby!

I stumbled across Accolade. They did such an excellent job fixing up my car and didn't charge me an arm and leg. Over time I got to know the owner. I discovered that he has a real passion for Subarus. He helped a friend of mine get a used car and that really worked out well. After that I decided to let the owner know that I was in the market for a second used car. It took a while but we found one. He replaced the engine in that car and during the shakedown phase there were a few slight problems. The owner went over and above the call of duty and out of his way to fix every problem. It's like having a brand new car and he sold it to me at a very fair price. If you're looking for car repair I can recommend them. If you're looking to buy a refurbished car this is the place you want to go. Enough said!

RIP my friend. Josh is the son of Bill Ballard who ran Ironhorse out of his home garage in Forest Grove for eons. Bill was amazing. Did great work at very reasonable prices. I was very sad when he passed but he left this world doing what he loves.... on his bike heading to Sturgis. Farewell, Brother. Josh may not be the mechanic his Dad was but he does very good work. Very accommodating and his prices are similarly very reasonable. He has a couple of employees who also seem to be good with a wrench but the few times I've been there Josh is always the one doing the work on my bike. Over time I've come to trust Josh ad his level of skill so I'm pretty confident that he can handle anything I bring to him. It's always difficult when you lose someone you trust with your life... literally. I was obviously nervous about handing my bike over to someone new but so far it's worked out very well. Josh is young so hopefully he will outlive me and will be the last person working on my Harleys. If it's a choice between the dealership and going to Josh, that's an easy decision.
