After a few hours they called and went over the couple issues they had found and should be replaced which they were very nice and helpful. They found that one control arm had some play in it and should be replaced, the brake vacuum was bad, and one of the window switches auto up didn't work. After taking this to the dealer they fixed the issue and all was well. After driving 100 miles back home we noticed the car didn't handle any bumps or turns very well. We took it to a local mechanic where they found the following wrong with it- Self leveling shock system (air bags and shocks) torn and blown out- $1500 Compressor for shocks burnt out and hasn't been operational for a long time- $1000 Upper passenger control arm causing stability issues and creaking (needs replaced and alignment)- $950 We paid $199 to have them check the important components of a car before buying. Now we are stuck with a bill totaling over $3000 on a vehicle with less than 150 miles from us driving it. Do not take your car here for pre-purchase inspections. These are all common failure points for this vehicle with this many miles as confirmed with multiple other trusted local mechanics in our area. The least they could do is refund this inspection fee to help cover the cost of repairs of a car we wouldn't have bought in the first place if due diligence was done as we trusted it would be.

Customer service at the front desk/on the phone was friendly. They paid for an Uber to bring me back to the shop since their courtesy vehicle wasn't available at that time. When another mechanic reviewed some of the work they recommended, it sounded like they may have been overzealous in their thorough examination/recommendations. For example, the drive belt has the beginnings of a minor crack but it sounds like it's probably not going to be an issue for 20,000 miles. They also asked for a review multiple times after the service. Final answer: They aren't (and don't claim to be) the affordable option, but their service advisors were pleasant and I felt like they didn't try to pressure me into more services once I said no/defer to most recs.

The after hours drop off and pick up is seamless and really easy, which I appreciated. They charged $300 to diagnose, which seemed high, but I didn't want to tow my car to another shop, so I accepted that. They got my car back to me five days later, and the alternator worked great but a dash light had come on for a bulb which was not burned out. I replaced the bulb but the light persisted. I asked the shop about looking at it, and I was advised well, we'll run some tests, which sounded to me like another $300 diagnosis. So, the alternator repair was good, but now I have a permanent dash light on until I can find a shop to take it to. All in all, I'd say they are an OK shop.

I considered going to the Subaru dealer in Beaverton but I gravitated to Brock Automotive because of their stellar, glowing reviews. Glad I did. First, scheduling online is easy and they text you confirmations and reminders. They also respond to texts quickly and efficiently. Note that you will likely need to drop off your vehicle as they are very busy - another good sign! - and though I needed to leave my Subaru overnight, the repairs were done in a reasonable amount of time for the services required. What I also like is their system of 'needs attention, could wait, and doesn't need work' that is color-coded on their estimate sheet by Red, Yellow, and Green; as well the costs for the repairs are clear on that sheet. You can then decide what you want done, approve it, and they will begin the work on your car. My estimate is just what I paid, so zero surprises. Immediately walking in to their shop office, I was greeted cheerily and nicely by Coy--I felt comfortable and relaxed. Picking up my car, I was greeted by an owner, who was equally as cheerful and nice. My car was waiting for me right out front when I exited the office - everything was clean just as I'd left it. I brought my 2018 Nissan Armada in for an oil change and inspection for a voltage fluctuation…read moreissue. They couldn't diagnose it after I told them all the symptoms. Fortunately I was able to fix myself with a $40 part. When I got home I discovered my oil cap was missing entirely. I had already driven approximately 100 miles without it. When I contacted the shop about it, I was dismissed with an explanation that it was just "vapor release" and probably fine. No apology, no accountability. What made it worse- they replaced my original cap with a cheap MasterPro aftermarket cap without telling me or getting my approval. They knew the cap was an issue and tried to cover it up with a $5 part instead of being upfront with me. They didn't offer to do my oil again to make sure it's safe. Driving 100 miles with an open valve cover exposes the engine to debris contamination and unfiltered air through the crankcase. This is a serious mistake. The dismissive response and the quiet aftermarket substitution without disclosure are what really sealed it for me. I will not be returning. I'd encourage anyone bringing a vehicle here to do a thorough walkaround and check your engine bay before leaving the lot.
