Let me preface this by saying that pool construction is a major undertaking. It involves the use of skilled sub-contractors from virtually every area of construction, depending on the scope of the project. Some of these skilled laborers are under the direct control of the pool construction company, while others are not. It takes significant planning, coordination of sub-contractors, and close supervision through every phase of construction to successfully complete the project. Typically, the project will take somewhat longer than anticipated due to timing and availability of sub-contractors, and weather-related conditions. Existing landscaping, irrigation systems, fencing, and other yard-related features will inevitably be torn out during the construction process. It may be wise to try to time the completion of the project to allow for the re-planting of sod and landscaping while still in the growing season. City or County inspectors will perform key inspections along the way for code compliance, such as rebar, electrical, gas lines, and safety factors. This is important to the homeowner. Costs to relocate and/or install electrical and gas service lines, repair and/or relocate irrigation lines, landscaping, and fence repairs are additional expenses to the homeowner, and may be significant. It is prudent to obtain estimates from both recommended and outside contractors to be able to plan for these additional expenses, once the pool construction plan is agreed upon with the pool company. Gunite Pools of Tulsa was recommended to me by a trusted source. When my pool construction was in it's final stages, I read the negative review on Yelp concerning that homeowner's experience with Gunite Pools of Tulsa. I'm glad I did not read that review beforehand. My experience with Gunite Pools was quite different. As with any major construction project, there will inevitably be some missteps along the way. Are they significant? Did they change the original plan in some significant way? How did the pool company respond to such changes? and did they rectify any exceptions in a timely and efficient manner? Some of the problems mentioned in the other review should have been easily avoided. For instance: It is easy to observe exactly where the pool will be located since it is drawn on the ground before any digging takes place. They arrange for all utilities to be located and marked, so there is really little possibility that the homeowner would not know in advance if an existing utility line might need to be relocated, or the pool be relocated if the homeowner desires. It was my experience that Gunite pools appeared to utilize the most professional and courteous sub-contractors for all of their work. They used quality materials and skilled laborers in every phase of construction. They responded to every question or concern along the way in a timely and satisfactory manner. They also work with a pool service company that has extensive experience in pool construction and working systems. This service company provides a final check on the entire working systems of the pool to assure everything is in proper working order, and can provide continuing maintenance services if the homeowner desires. My project included a heated pool, spa, grotto/waterfall, lighting, pool bubblers, pergola, and outdoor kitchen. This required the coordination of many outside sub-contractors. In the end Gunite Pools made sure I was completely satisfied with the completed project. I listened to their catchy radio ad for months on my way to work. I had heard so many bad stories about other pool companies, so I decided to check out their website and setup an appointment. For starters, the companies website is really sharp and classy. I decided to get designs and bids from 3 pool companies. Gunite Pools of Tulsa was the first company that showed up. I met with Chris. He was on time and communicated very well. 3 weeks had passed and I still had yet to hear from the other 2 pool companies. I called each of them twice and sent them 2 emails each. Still no response 3 weeks later. Meanwhile I went back and forth with Chris multiple times, tweaking little things in the design. I just visually wanted to see some different options. I know he spent countless hours of his time working on these designs. But he did so in a timely manner and gave me several options along the way that I had never even thought about. I really felt like Chris was providing me solutions and not selling me something. I knew that if a company communicated like this long before I ever signed a contract or wrote a check, that this is the type of business I wanted to work with for several months. And man I'm sure glad I did. They did amazing work!! Let's not kid ourselves, putting in a pool is expensive. And when you are talking about spending that amount of money, the expectations you have for customer service and quality should definitely be higher. And I mean it, when I say Steven, Chris and the rest of the company far exceeded my expectations!!! I mean far exceeded it. Don't even bother wasting your time calling another pool company. You'll spend 6-8 weeks being frustrated and in the end you'll be right back to where you should have been all along, talking with Chris and Steven. Are these guys perfect, absolutely not. But they fixed any issues and stood behind their work. My expectations were pretty high, but this company delivered even more than I was expecting. I chose Gunite Pools of Tulsa last year to design and build me a new swimming pool. And man am I so glad I did. They did an amazing job!! They were the first company to arrive after I called to make appointments. They were the first with an amazing design back and proposal that detailed all the necessary options to customize my pool. Their communication was incredible. I emailed and called the other 2 pool companies to get competing bids. I essentially wasted 6 weeks and countless hours. The other 2 companies I called wouldn't show up when they said they would. They would never respond to my emails or phone calls. I knew if this is how a company communicated before signing a contract, that once the contract was signed, there's no way I'd get any of my questions answered. And let me tell you, I had a lot of questions. I like most people had never owned a pool before. And I was scared to death about spending this amount of money on something I knew very little about. Steven and Chris, answered every email or text message, both before, during and after the construction of my pool. I am extremely grateful that they provided me solutions that made sense and stayed within my budget. Plus their work was incredible and their pricing was exactly what on par with the other 2 companies. In my mind, they could have charged even more for the amazing service they delivered, because I certainly would have paid it. I was a little skeptical having them work for us because of the one bad review they had on here but when they explained about the ex employee that did not get along with the customer it made sense. Plus it seems all her issues were with the ex employee and construction time lines. We own our own company as well and know we can only be as good as our employees. Chris and Steven were so easy to communicate with and their crews were so friendly. We have already recommended them to several of our friends looking to have pools built. I would highly recommend at least talking with them if you are getting several bids. They pointed out things that other pools companies didn't tell us about that would have cost us thousands more. Gunite Pools of Tulsa has some of the best customer service in the industry. Their company has grown leaps and bounds from where they were several years ago. They have gone through a complete staff change. Their designer Chris is very talented and returns phones calls & emails on nights and weekends and typically within minutes, not hours or days like most pool companies. They kept me in the loop throughout the entire project and even when something did not go as planned. We did hit some delays but I was informed about them ahead of time.
