Few of my girlfriends and I took the beginning course with Erica and Bobby. We all had a great time learning from these two. Amazing first time experience. My mom and I were lucky enough to have our experience with, The Gun Lady". She was professional and patient, making sure we understood what we were shooting as how different guns pack a different kick or recoil. Had a GREAT time with girlfriends yesterday in a shooting class focused on home defense.  Loved Gunlady DFI (Defensive Firearms Instructor) Mandy Autrey. (GUNLADY.NET) in Sloughhouse,  Ca.  Great sense of humor,  fabulous instructor! Key takeaways for me: know the law..if you have to use your firearm to defend your home,  make sure you do so legally and don't end up in jail; acquire the skills, mentally AND physically (spoiler alert... it's mostly mental but Mandy gives essential tips for how to physically hold the gun and your body that really improved my shooting!); know how to prepare yourself and your family...have a plan;  become familiar and comfortable with your firearm; be safe!  So much covered... it was terrific! Even though it's a beginner level class,   I'd recommend it for anyone interested in learning more about the specifics of home defense. Erica is a top notch instructor. Knowledgeable, friendly, patient and has great communication skills. She's also a badass, precision shooter. In addition to using my own firearm, she brought a range of firearms for me to try out and compare. I'm not sure if this is standard, but it was a nice touch. Emphasis on safety and confidence building with an eye for needed adjustments delivered in a way that's easily received. Mandy is an excellent communicator. She is black and white and doesn't make you feel stupid asking questions. Her knowledge is amazing and the way she teaches is in no way boring. The safety and rules were great and shooting was even better. I took Mandy's home defense course yesterday. Being an avid hunter I have spent a lot of time around guns but not hand guns and I never really knew the proper stance to shoot a hand gun. In this course I learned the proper way to hold my gun to accurately fire an entire magazine(rapid fire). I am not perfect and have a lot more room for improvement but I have the basic idea and understanding. The Home defense instruction must not go overlooked. Of all the information I gained from yesterday, my best takeaway was the information I needed to develop an emergency plan for my family and I. I am just going to pile on with another five-star review. I retired after thirty years as a cop, spending most of my time in Southern California. I have a CCW by virtue of that employment but my wife wanted one so we attended an eight hour CCW class with a different company (not Gunlady), which, to my wife left many unanswered questions. So I tagged along when my wife took a home defense class from Mandy. The difference in depth and attitude was incredible. Mandy "tells it like it is" the best way I can describe her style. Much of her class concerns the legal position of a homeowner who is exposed to the possibility of using deadly force, but to my surprise the hands-on portion of the class, consisting of actual range training came first. But when I thought about it, and taking into account that some members of the class had never handled a firearm before, it made perfect sense to demonstrate the awesome power of a firearm before discussing the possible legal, social and psychological consequences of using that firearm. Despite my experience, Mandy taught me a lot, especially about the law, and brought up points I never would have considered from a civilian point of view. She is one of the finest range instructors I have ever encountered and I have encountered many. No need to look elsewhere if you want the best possible training to be prepared for a critical incident. read more

We did a family firearm safety training with Mandy a couple of months ago. Her course was excellent. She was extremely informative and has a breadth of knowledge regarding all aspects of situational awareness that she provided. We brought our 14 and 17 year olds, and they both got a lot out of this training. Mandy made them feel very comfortable with her training style. In addition, there was a good amount of dialogue between them, and we totally appreciated it. My 14 year old said, "Mandy made me feel very comfortable even though I didn't like the loud noises and all those people around me." This is awesome since she was positioned between multiple people (all her family) shooting at targets and was able to follow clear and concise directions. My 17 year old said that Mandy is very approachable and is looking forward to our next class with her. This is great (being approachable) because let's face it, it is really hard for some parents to teach or train their children at certain things. I left this in the hands of a professional, and I know I made the right choice. Mandy also corrected some of what I thought I knew about the law. I highly recommend Mandy for firearm training or really any training she may conduct. And, I believe she's excellent for all ages and genders. read more

Took the 16 hour class and had a blast!! Mandy (The Gun Lady) knows what she's doing. Her and her team are all about keeping there students safe while insuring you get the proper training. The first day I was a little nervous but once you get to know Mandy she is very cool and makes you feel very comfortable. They walk you thru all the steps nice and slow once they see your getting it down they will speed it up just a bit. No need to be embarrassed if your not hitting the target after all you are there for training and I can promise you that she will get you on target. My wife and I chose Mandy for our renewal based on Yelp. We are so glad we did. The difference in instruction was huge verses our original class. Previous classes worked on making sure our bullets hit the circle on the target with a little mumbo jumbo thrown in about laws and "stories". Mandy's class focused on the "Real World" of Concealed Carry Weapons...showing and demonstrating how to protect our lives and the lives of those close to us. My husband and have had the pleasure of taking two classes with Mandy (so far). We started out with her home defense class and came back for the basic handgun class, and plan to take others in the near future. Mandy has a gift for making people feel comfortable through use of humor and acceptance- whatever level of exposure you have had to weapons in the past, and regardless of which side of the political spectrum you associate with. We had little to no training, and we left our first class feeling confident that we knew how to safely handle a weapon and capable enough to defend our family, should the need arise. The home defense class was especially useful, as it included a broader discussion/approach to home defense, and was not just about weapons training (though there was plenty of time spent on that as well). Mandy is a fantastic teacher- she is patient & down to earth, she makes the course material relatable to real life situations. Perhaps most importantly, she is kind. Was researching classes to take. Met Mandy at MTG. Took the basic gun safety class with Mandy and her Team. Best decision I ever made. Mandy and her Team are open to answering any question you may have. They are patient, professional and know the laws. Took my second class (CCW). A lot of hard work on the students end but worth every second. Clear, concise explanations. I learned a lot and constructive criticism was given to me with "what if" scenarios instead of "don't do that" and no explanation was to why. I've taken two classes from Gunlady and they didn't disappoint. All three instructors are super knowledgeable and caring. They make you feel like part of the class from the very beginning, even if you have no idea what your doing.
