This is my favorite restaurant in Boulder. The masala momos are amazing! They have vegan & gluten-free options but also serve meat dishes.

Really loved this place! Very unique flavors. I forgot the actual names of the dishes, but we got the fry bread with a curry/chopped onion mixture, the signature dumplings in a creamy curry sauce, and the saag (lentils) entree with brown rice. Everything was really good but I would say the dumplings are a must try. The fry bread was also very unique, it comes out hot and crispy. Parking is easy and service is great. read more

Ordered Uber Eats, had chicken vindaloo and some garlic naan. Ordered the spice level medium, and glad I did. Both were very tasty, vindaloo was so full of flavor and so spicy! I love spice but usually go milder when I'm traveling as it sometimes hits me wrong. This was so hot I was burning up while I ate it. Loved it though, dipped the naan in the spice, it was that good. We ordered Lamb Vindaloo, kothey pork momo, and garlic naan. The vindaloo: the lamb was dry, the curry was bland, and there was barely enough sauce to cover the ingredients - no extra for dipping. When we asked for some additional sauce for dipping - the answer from the kitchen -- no. The garlic naan was very oily and doughy. The pork momos however, were hot and tasty with good texture. In a shopping center with plenty of parking. The service was quick and prompt and somewhat friendly. Definitely not that big in there. I got the saag paneer which is my go to. Nice little spot... my daughter brought us here as she loves their takeout... wait staff was very nice and accommodating... The chicken Tandoori is where it's at... 5starz The Masala Dumpling were a bit over cooked and doughy but flavorful ... The two curries we got were very light and tasted more of coconut milk than anything (my daughter said the take out has more flavor by far) - could have been spiced better... Also got the house spicy noodles which were a bit like drunken noodle but spicier, these I enjoyed very much... The naan was nice but could have come out sooner with the food... I had a hot Chai which was nice... Over all 4.3 stars... we plan on comparing the take out to see the difference before we head back out to the east coast ( so stay tuned ! Haha ) read more

Had a great dinner on Friday here --ordered the goat curry, aloo paratha, naan, and chicken momos. Everything was SO good. The sauce the momos come in was decently spicy, while the goat curry (medium heat) really wasn't spicy (for me). Would recommend asking about the spice levels before ordering. Gurkas is a great place to go for Indian food especially their Momos (dumplings). I did not know what to expect but was greeted by a very joyful owner who had me at the smiling welcome. I tried their Jhol momo bowel and it was delicious. I also had to take their Chicken Masala home so I could try that with the family. It was also really tasty with just the right amount of kick. This place smells amazing! It was bustling on a cold and rainy Tuesday night. Just about every table was taken. The servers were prompt and friendly. It did take a while to get the food, but it was well worth the I wanted to try both the momos and a curry since it's a dumpling and curry house. My husband had to have saag paneer and some hot butter naan to sop it all up. We thought it would be too much for the two of us, but we barely had any leftovers; it was so good. We got everything medium hot in spice level which was plenty and we're not timid. In hind sight, we should have tried some mild and some hot just to get the spectrum. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The momo skin was the perfect thickness and packed with filling. They came with dipping sauce and some clear broth which we weren't sure what to do with it. Apparently you pour it over the dumplings and make like a soup. The saag paneer had plentiful cheese chunks. I recommend getting the white/basmati rice instead of the brown rice which was a bit over cooked. We can't wait to come back for some biryani and noodles! read more

Confused about the rave reviews. The food was just ok. My chicken tikka was pretty dry and my friend said her curry was salty. The portions are average, if not small, for the price. Next we got chicken dumplings and veggie dumplings, once again, no flavor on the chicken dumplings. The broth and sauce they bring out with them also lacked flavor. The chili momo and chhole bhature are both damn near the best thing I've found to eat in Colorado.

The 'new' Gurkhas, located on Arapahoe in a shopping center, cannot compare to the previous iteration on 'the Hill' in Boulder. Biryani is gummy, with some but not many vegetables; Vindaloo is thick and lacks flavor, at least for us. The naan lacks salt and, again for us, fell flat. Portion size is good enough, though when the food has an odd consistency and has a peculiar flavor unlike any of the biryanis and vindaloos we've previously had - from the Gurkhas on the Hill as well as from other Nepali and Indian eateries - perhaps this isn't so awful. This was our experience, though it may not represent others' experiences with the food. read more
