Stumbled into Guru's Hakka the other day, we were starving so we decided to give them a shot. So glad we did! We got the following (in order of appearance): - Manchurian Chicken (Gravy) - Crispy Cauliflower - Chilli Chicken Momos - Vegetable fried rice We had actually asked for fried momos but our server was kind enough to tell us sometimes the deep fried ones get too hard so they will work something out for us but we will enjoy it and we sure did! I think they pan fried them and man that crisp was still so good and crunchy, just the right amount. The vegetable fried rice was honestly a build your own thing because I was dining with my vegetarian friend and picky friend lol (they know who they are) and for ONCE I wasn't the one with specific requests so I didn't mind it! We got the fried rice simple, with baby corn and broccoli and it still tasted so delicious! You can tell they've been doing this for a while if they can make such a simple dish taste so good! The manchurian chicken was classic, not too spicy with the right amount of veggies to meat ratio, an absolute winner! The crispy cauliflower however probably surprised me the most! As you know I'm working on my relationship with veggies and I did NOT expect to enjoy this dish as much as I did. It was hella crispy and the sauce was soooo flavourful and tangy honestly it felt like I was eating fried saucy chicken balls! Overall we were all stuffed and had plenty of left overs! Thank you again to the staff for making this random walk in experience so great, we left with very happy tummies. They've been in business for over 10 years now and for good reason! Thank you Guru. You are a true Guru for screw-ups! I wish I could give them zero stars. At an event nearby and Saif was home starving. Went here to pick up some quick food. Busy inside. Ordered a Vegetarian Manchurian and Veggie Fries Rice to go. The person on the counter said 20-25 minutes wait as they were busy. I requested if it could be done a bit early, he said may not be possible as it was super busy. Got my order after 55 minutes. After expressing quite clearly that the order was late. At 45 minutes called the manager and requested that I be given a refund as food was still not ready. Two more takeout orders similar to me had same issues. Manager requested 5 more minutes to make it right. I gave in. After five I protested again. He said he will make it right and handed me a big bag of food. Thinking that he was throwing in some thing free I confirmed it was my order. He said yes. Come home which is 30 minutes away drive on a highway. I find that there are three chicken dishes and two noodles dishes and three steamed rice. Not even close to our order. We are vegetarians and don't eat eggs either. Did. It ask if the noodles had egg in them as I did. It order them. All the food went to waste. Thank you Guru. You are a true of screw-ups. read more

Got takeout from Gurus when visiting in Brampton and wasn't sure what to expect. I have had indo Chinese food before and always loved it but this was delicious! Ended up getting food here on the way back from downtown Toronto and ended up trying the vegetarian Hakka noodles. These were amazing and so flavorful with tons of veggies and so much flavor! We also ended up ordering the paneer Manchurian which was not bad and definitely very flavorful. Wish the paneer was a bit softer and less chewy but overall really tasty and enjoyed every bite of it! Came here during my lunch break after doing a quick yelp search of nearby takeout places and I was satisfied. Let me break it down. Taste and portion size: 5/5 Ordered lunch special: mild manchurian chicken, white rice, salad, spring roll and hot and sour soup. Everything was fresh and flavourful and the portion size was meant to be for 2 people. Service 5/5. Placed my order over the phone and was told it would be ready in 15 mins. I got there in 10 and my order was ready. The gentleman over the counter was really friendly. Price 5/5. Appetizer and main course came out to be $9.03 which is a bang for your buck. Guru's Chinese Cuisine - Lunch special manchurian chicken with rice, salad and spring roll - Hakka Near Me - Brampton, Ontario

I have been searching for a Indian twist on my Hakka and stumbled upon Guru's. Before walking in I read a few reviews and was armed and ready to give this place a go. Totally unassuming from the outside, the place was nicely decorated, staff was friendly and happy to bend over backwards to make me happy. I looked over the menu and ordered the Szechuan chicken, Chili Beef (dry), Chili Chinese mix Biryani & Veg Chow Mein. I also noted that most reviews found the food mild and bland so I asked for it hot. TIP: Other patrons were also requesting the spice level & mostly asking for their food hot. If you like spice, you need to request it or they will play it safe. The food arrived, it looked great, ingredients and veggies were fresh, the food is definitely with an Indian twist, but tastefully done, it did not derive too much from the usual Chinese Hakka. Spice was present in all the dishes I ordered and was about a 7 on 10 for heat, which is where I like it. Preparation of the food must have been done on the stove. I noticed most of my food was not oily and had a more cooked taste, which I enjoyed. Only complaint was the beef, which was slightly on the firm side, but, I did ask for it dry. Overall, I think GCC makes a nice place to go to for a twist on the Hakka experience. I would recommend giving this place a try if you want to do the fresher & less oily experience. Ordered take out from this restaurant and they got my order wrong. I ordered 2 chili shrimp, Cantonese beef noodles, Cantonese shrimp noodles and a chili paneer. I was ordering this birthday dinner for a family of 5 adults. And I'm 9 months pregnant vegetarian. When confronted they said that it wasn't their fault and that they wouldn't offer a full refund. My birthday dinner was ruined and all I got back was 11.80 for the inconvenience. When we went to collect the refund the owner lied and said that we were lying about the order. Decided to stop in the try the spot which was in close proximity to our hotel. The reviews were great we agree! Service was prompt and friendly. The waiter was very knowledgeable and asked us for our heat/spice preferences as we as all of the questions about preparation for my vegan. We had the veggie pad Thai which was not a traditional pad Thai, this was sweeter which was different and yummy. We also had the chili chicken which was mild with a salty and tangy sauce. Finally we went for the Manchurian cauliflower which was our favorite! Deep fried spicy cauliflower with veggies, best dish! The dishes were also served with a basmati rice. Ordered various dishes like chili chicken, noodles, tofu dish, and a couple of other didn't know the name. The food was bland and greasy.

I came in not expecting much, was in the area looking for some wedding wear in the plaza. My wife and I sat down next to a bright comfortable booth seat on the north side and started to soak in the kitschy decor and Shahrukh classic songs from the 90's on loop. The food came in and I was instantly drawn by the fragrant rice and dishes. Got the Manchurian shrimp fried rice, spicy dry chicken and chilli paneer. The flavours are a bit more subtle than most hakka places I've been to, which was a pleasant change. Asking for spicy warrants a medium for most other hakka restaurants. Which is fine. A little more on the chinese side of hakka cuisine. The wait staff was pleasant and helpful with my questions. For what you're paying, this place packs a lot of value and has a weird quality reminiscent of old good times. Mine may be a personal experience, but I have come here again and will continue to if I am way the hell out here again for some odd reason. Gets busy, so expect a wait. Guru chilli Chinese is indian style restaurant, when I visited first tym, I ordered chilli dry paneer and Manchurian vegetables with rice. These cuisine are mouth watering. I love Hakka Food and have a preferred place to visit when the need arises. This place serves very different Hakka food compared to the other places I've been to (around 8 different places now), so it's hard to compare them to others. I visited for lunch and ordered: Chicken Pakora, Chilli Chicken (in gravey) and Spicy Crispy Beef. All dishes were listed with a chilli pepper beside them (on the menu) which denotes spicy..which, unfortunately, they weren't (to be fair, I do have a high tolerance for spicy foods, but these dishes should not warrant a spicy label) Chicken Pakora - everywhere else I've had them, they've been dry. Here, they come served coated in a red sauce (tamarind?) that is mildly spicy, and covered with green onions and sliced onions. Although not what I was expecting, they were excellent. I did notice that the longer they sat in the sauce, the spicier they became. Chilli Chicken - the gravey was a bit too runny for my liking, but very flavourful. I noticed that the breading on the chicken absorbed the sauce, which made them a bit pastey. Not bad, not great. Spicy Crispy Beef - it was dry rubbed and excellent, but not spicy. It was probably my favourite dish. Although you could see tons of chilli pepper seeds, it lacked heat completely. The above meal came with basmati rice. Our server was excellent, attentive and friendly. Decor was a bit on the tacky side (dried flowers used a curtain ties, etc), but I didn't come to eat the decor...... Would I come here again? So I live down the block and i used to be a regular. I loved they're Manchurian lamb dry with rice but then I started getting different meat, it was like the chewy bone. So I switched up my order. I been getting the lunch special which was pretty cool, when u upgrade to Fried rice, it cost 11, but then they started charging 12.99 which was not too bad but it would be nice if the cost wasnt hidden. Then the rice was too oily, and the meat was less meat and more uncooked veggies instead. The chicken wasnt cooked through, and the shrimp was bland. There quality is getting worse and worse. Customer service is extremely poor. Do not support this business as their practices are shoddy. I ordered a birthday dinner for my family members from this restaurant and only received half of the order and one dish had chicken which my pregnant sister couldn't eat because it makes her sick. I called the restaurant to get some type of retribution and an employee by the name of "Kavan"said he would refund the entire order. This was the supposed resolution after speaking to this individual after 40 minutes. He would not give his managers name or the business owners name or contact information. I said I would come to the restaurant the next day to get my refund. When I got there, apparently no one by the name of "Kavan" works (as per the owner & the alleged "Kavan" himself) there and they were not going to give me a full refund. "Kavan then confirmed that his name was in fact "Kavan" and the the owner blatantly lied and said there was no "Kavan" that worked there. The owner then also proceeded to call me a liar regarding the amount of food I ordered because I called him a liar- super immature. It was absolutely horrible customer service. They do not deserve to be in business. BEWARE. Guru's Chilli Chinese cuisine is a disgrace and should definitely be investigated for their shoddy practices and untrained employees. I will never order from this poor excuse of a restaurant again and not only because this experience was disgusting, but the food itself did not taste good compared to other Hakka restaurants.
