HIRE THIS MAN. Gus saved my family from some serious potential health issues! I called him out for what was supposed to be a small job, but it quickly turned into a huge job after we found what was under neath our floors.... After reaching out to a few contractors, Gus was the only one who responded.... and FAST! We moved into a new house in December. The previous owners did A LOT of renovations. Unfortunately, some of the renovations were done poorly. I noticed in the dining room and living room the newly installed laminate floors (from previous owner) felt uneven and had a little too much bounce in them. I didnt think much about it until my newborn was delivered and I was on parental leave. Thats when I decided to call Gus to come check it out. Before lifting the floors we thought it would be a few hour job. Add some self leveler and reinstall floors. If only it was that easy. After removing floors...we immediately saw plastic under the new laminate floors...and that plastic was covering OLD laminate floors. Once we cut the plastic, we saw the disaster. ROT AND MOLD. Luckily it was isolated to just that room. So he killed all the mold and mildew by meticulously cleaning. Then he ripped up the entire wood floor that was glued down to the concrete slab. He filled all the cracks in the slab, and cleaned and scraped all glue. The next day he laid down plastic over concrete slab and began installing new floors again with some help. After laying floors, he fixed up the baseboards, installed new quarter round and new thresholds. After everything's was installed, a nice new coat of paint and he was on his way! I would recommend Gus for any job small or big. He seems very knowledgeable in all areas of home construction... as I found out as I annoyingly picked his brain out of curiosity. I have him coming out for a gutter issue very soon. read more

Moving can be such a pain - especially when my 8x10 bedroom carpet arrived late and I wasn't able to place it under my extremely heavy mattress & bed set. In came Gus to save the day!! Needed about 20 shingles replaced due to hurricane damage. Called Hurst Construction in the morning to see if I could get an estimate for cost of repair. Arriving the same day in the afternoon, Mr. Hurst gave a fair estimate. He and his crew began work immediately, completing the job by sundown. The work was done professionally, with great attention to detail. The crew even took care of some issues that were not part of the shingle replacement. Gus was doing work on a neighbors house and I asked her how it went working with Gus. She explained that his crew did great work and she recommended him. She is very particular and I had no doubts that I should have Gus provide a quote. The quote was good and within a little over a week all my wood rot on my porch was replaced and painted to perfection. I look forward to having Gus and his Crew back for future projects. I had a great experience with Gus Hurst Construction. They responded to me right away and were able to come out within a day or so after we talked to remove my old counter tops and put my new butcher block counter tops in. There was even a leak under my sink they found and fixed for me. They fixed my walls from the previous back splash and did a phenomenal job with the counter top for a very reasonable price. If I could give Gus and his team 10 stars, I would. Gus was a true godsend. My dad and his wife had extensive damage in their bedroom that was so much worse behind the walls and ceiling than we knew. Roof leak needed patching. Called several people. Got stood up by one. Was asked to reschedule by another because forecast for rain that day. Gus Actually showed up early and fixed the roof on the spot. My experience is that he comes when he says he's coming. Gives you a quote with a fair price. Then does the job right away. read more
