We ordered four different pizzas for our family of five and could have taken some slices home. The wines are good too, and served by the glass inexpensively. The absolute best pizza I've ever had, and I don't make this statement lightly! Florence, you're killing me with all these superlatives. With all seriousness though, Gusta pizza sets the bar high for what to expect in a Neapolitan pizza (or any pizza, honestly). Located a few blocks away from the Ponte Vecchio, Gusta Pizza is on a street corner and is always bustling with locals and tourists going in and out. There can be a bit of a wait for a table, but it's totally worth it. You can also get your pizza to go and eat it by the Arno! My personal favorites are the Margherita (€5), the Calabrese (€7), and the Gusta Pizza (€7). Everything is affordable and delicious, though. My first time here, the guy taking orders at the counter winked at me, yelled "Americans!", and made my pizza into a heart shape. It was the cutest thing ever. (You can also ask for it in a heart if that's what you prefer; it makes it harder to cut but it's also adorable.) As for the pizza making process, there's a guy rolling out the dough in front of you. You can watch them put on the toppings and pop it into the oven. Once they call out your order number, you're guaranteed a sizzling hot, melty pizza pie. The crust is airy and doughy, and holds toppings well. The tomatoes are the freshest thing I've ever eaten. The cheese is magical; I could eat only that mozzarella for the rest of my life and be just fine. All the ingredients marry together and create a perfectly harmonious combination of flavors and textures. It's heavenly. Gusta is the best. I'm stunned by the sheer deliciousness of those pizzas. My entire study abroad experience can be summed up by evenings at Gusta, with gelato at La Carraia afterwards (the best! It's nearby). Miss you, Florence. read more

This place is always super busy and I decided to try it one day with some friends! We didn't have to wait long to receive our order and they were so cute and made our pizzas into heart shapes but I was kinda disappointed with the way my pizza was cooked, the dough was really soggy towards the center and I couldn't even eat it properly. This is probably due to them being so busy and trying to serve their customers promptly so I'll have to try it again to see if the pizza is prepared better next time. The flavor was exceptional though so that did make up for the poor texture. Really great price for a personal pizza. My husband and I went here just by passing and seeing how popular it was. They line was out the door but it moved quickly. Not only do they use a fast fire pizza oven but he pizza and calzones come out quick and absolutely delicious. Right when you step up to order, there are bottles of wine sitting on the counter you can pour while you wait. Since it is busy you have to keep an eye out for a table and hope to get lucky to sit. Gusta Pizza is absolutely MAGICAL and the BEST pizza I've ever had (this is coming from a Chicagoan who didn't believe Italian pizza could taste better than Chicago pizza). Im not sure where to begin. I used to live on Via Maggio when I studied abroad and everyday I would see a line (20-30 people) lined up outside. We went to the Gusta Pizza because we heard that it's the best pizza in Florence. And we heard it from a local person. We came couple minutes after 7 queue was really big but very fast. We came here on a Saturday night and boy this place was hoppin' with locals and tourists alike. There was a short line but we placed our pizza order within 5 minutes. The price was also very, very, affordable. Halfway waiting for food while being invited to sit at a table in the main lounge, the host abruptly invited us to move to a smaller room so we could only mingle with other tourists. How thoughtful! The amazing chef others have written about must have called in sick that night since the pizza was overly salted, coming from a palate that acclimated to Catalunya food recently.
