I have a silver guitar pic necklace with a celtic knot in it, but the chain broke in my sleep. I went to a pawn shop in Texas thinking surely they'd have a cheap replacement. They tried to charge me $150 for the same chain, albeit with a cross I didn't want. I think I paid something like $60 for the original chain, from a different pawn shop in Texas. It's just a thin little spaghetti chain. A few weeks later, I was on vacation in Denver. I wanted a souvenir, so I decided to get a new silver chain. Found this place on the internet. It's in a great neighborhood where I was dining anyway, and the storefront is very quaint, tucked away in a cool building. Got a longer replacement chain for $35, and she told me she could have fixed the old chain, had I brought it with me. So that shopping experience truly impressed me. The store is simply nicer and cheaper than the grimy little places I would buy jewelry in Texas. Very unpretentious, and yet high-quality. Good ambience, even. read more

Last year while my best friend Heather was in town visiting me in Denver, we took a quick trip to Boulder to explore the beautiful Pearl Street and beyond. In doing so, we discovered a ring shop and were successful luring in my fiancé to take a gander at Wedding Bands. In minutes he found "the one" but we weren't prepared to buy it at first glance. Seven or so months go by and he's finally ready. By that time, we had too much on our plate venturing to Boulder for the ring was just not in our plan. Instead, we headed to Larimer Street in the beautiful Downtown Denver and stumbled upon Gusterman's Silversmiths. What a find, tucked away across from Bistro Vendome! First thing to note, they really are more of a Silversmith than a Jeweler as I used them for. Secondly, don't confuse their ability to do both as an inability to be knowledgeable in both, however. All three of Gusterman's associates that assisted me were pleasant to work with. There was a slight communication issue on the front end, but once I cleared the air that calling is not appreciated rather email is best, the issue was resolved immediately. (I get nervous working with multiple folks without an email thread to track correspondence). Long story short, Gusterman's located the ring, ordered it, and it arrived in no time. I suggest going there for dinner at night because they have lights streaming across the street and it makes it cute for walking down the street. So there is a little jewel tucked behind the big shops of Larimer Square. It's a smaller place packed with tons of shinies that are gorgeous. I always get a little tingle when I go in because for me it's definitely a special place. For graduation I decided to get a piece of jewelry made, so I went to the same place that my parents had their wedding rings made those many many many years ago. The staff was really very helpful helping me come up with a design and then let me hand pick the stones I wanted to put in it. That was the first time I designed my own so there's nothing to compare, but I was really happy with the attentiveness that they gave. Since then I try to stop by every time I'm in Larimer Square and have bought a few little gifts. The quality of their craftsmanship is great and I plan on going in there soon to have them do another piece for me. read more

Im quite unhappy about the service. I called ahead of time to ask if they could repair something for me and initially they said no but when I mentioned it was a Christmas gift they said they could make it work and told me to bring it in for pricing. I brought it in the next day and they said they couldn't get it done for me on time. I just think that's terrible service. You could have just told me that on the phone when I called and saved me the time I wasted going to your shop. That's the reason why I called in the first place. read more

I couldn't be happier with Gusterman's. Over a year ago, I brought in my grandmother's pearl necklace to see if they could fix the clasp. Mary fixed it on the spot, and didn't charge me for it. She was also able to design my perfect wedding band. I explained to Jamie what I had in mind, in my jewelry-illiterate terms and he instantly got it. Jamie's knowledge is impressive. Having never used a custom jeweler, he walked me through the entire process. He even gave me a good history of the gemstones that I wanted in the ring. That night I received a sketch from him with a quote. The price was great. More importunely, my wife loved the ring. I took my engagement ring to Gusterman Silversmiths to get sized down. My ring had a lot of filigree on it, which worried me because I know that filigree rings can be hard to size. Luckily, my ring wasn't difficult for the people at Gusterman to size. They originally told me that my ring would be ready in a few days, so I was very surprised when I got a phone call the next afternoon letting me know that my ring was ready for pick-up. When I got there, my ring was sized perfectly and shined up beautifully. The people at Gusterman are professional, honest, and very reasonable with their pricing. My fiance and I even decided to have them custom make our wedding rings. I am very impressed with the quality work that comes from this business and the people there genuinely care about their craft, and their customers. There is no other jeweler in town who can compare with Gusterman. I visited this shop after having my engagement repaired three times by two other jewelers (including a very prominent jeweler in Denver) with no results. Jamie & Mary were INCREDIBLE. I was there for about twenty minutes and walked out with both a fixed ring and a better understanding of the problem that I had been having with it. Instead of just turning me away with problem in hand (which I've nearly experienced other places), the two masters worked together to identify a couple of potential resolutions and viola! The small fix was done generously at no charge as a "trial" run with the promise that if I had the issue again, I could come back and we'd figure something out. My goal was to not have to purchase a completely new ring and Mary & Jamie agreed with me saying that it is a delicate and beautiful piece and that they would do their best to make sure I didn't have to do that. I cannot put into adequate words how wonderful this little gem of a shop is! When my fiance proposed, he only had the stone, as I had told him that I wanted to be a part of picking out the ring (I can be a bit particular), well after 5 months of visiting numerous (maybe 30 to 40) jewelry stores looking for just the right setting I was about to give up! Nothing seemed right, I already had my wedding dress picked out and I still couldn't find a ring that I loved. Finally we decided to look into getting one made. Armed with about 5 pictures of rings I liked, and a vague request for something "pretty but not too pretty" we visited Gustermans. Jamie, the artist behind the counter was amazing from the first meeting. I could tell in minutes that this guy was going to create something gorgeous and he immediately knew what I wanted. In fact, I felt so much trust in him that I left it up to him and my fiance to work out the details of the ring so that I could be surprised. Well, my fiance surprised me with my ring two days ago and I cannot stop smiling. It is better then I could have ever hoped for. It is one of a kind, gorgeous, and a work of art. I cannot recommend this experience enough. Both my fiance and I keep remarking that we feel like we have something so special to represent our relationship and now that we have done it, we cannot imagine having anything different. It just means the world to us to have something one of a kind and that is completely "us". It is so fun to tell people that I designed the millwork and my fiance picked the scallop feature, so incredibly special!. Of course, it was really all Jamie, whose unbelievable talent is the reason this was all possible. Also, while I never met Mary, the owner, I know my fiance was completely amazed by her care when he went in to see it mid-process and had a moment of self-doubt and started to worry that I wouldn't like it, and she reassured him, that if need be they would start all over and do everything in their power to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. He said it felt like Mary cared as much as he did that I loved the ring, and it didn't feel for a second that this was just a "business or a sale". And, for icing on the cake, it cost us less to make a custom ring then the majority of the pre-made settings we saw in some of the more well known chain stores! read more

We got both of our wedding rings and engagement ring from here. Mary is super nice and is straightforward about how the final product will come out, the price, and the time it will take to make. My wife gets many compliments on the ring that I designed with the help of Mary. She made a wax mold of the ring, I approved, and then she handmade the ring. The prices are actually very close to what you would find at any other jewelry store. Compared to other custom jewelers (Cronin's in Boulder) her prices are way cheaper. Her jewelery will take a while to make, but that just means she has other customers and isn't going to rush the job and sacrifice quality. I'm very happy with her work and will continue to recommend and shop with her in the future. read more

I was in Denver in early October and decided to look for a jeweler who could help me figure out the best way to wear my husband's wedding ring on a necklace. I had it on an inexpensive chain attached with a nice silver hinged bail. But I felt that my set-up wasn't very secure and losing the ring would have been just awful. I saw the requisite jewelers shops in the area but felt like I needed a real jeweler and not just a retail jewelry store. Well, Gusterman's was the answer. They are a silversmiths shop as their store name indicates and were able to help me not only with a more secure option for wearing the ring, but an option that was much more attractive than what I had put together on my own. Mary was sensitive to what the ring represented for me and when she had to leave the store-front to get to the work room she assured me she would be right back. She also explained all of the options for a sturdier soldered chain and secured the hinged bail so it wouldn't just open and let the ring fall out. I wish I lived in Denver so I could have Gusterman's as a resource (and because it's a pretty cool city too). After leaving Denver I looked up Gusterman's Facebook page and saw that they make special edition snowflakes - I have been obsessed with snowflakes since I was really little so it was like another sign that I was meant to find them.
