Great place to dine in or take out Dominican food. Options include chicken, pork, fish and more. The service was fantastic and clean and safe environment. Parking was easy to find in front with overflow parking underneath the building.

Gustico features some mighty fine Latin food--that is for sure!! I stopped in recently in Gustico for the first time when spotting the place during a quick trip to the bank. I had recently been hankering for some croquetas de jamon, so I pulled out my phone, did a quick search for Gustico's menu, and I saw they had them!! I was sold right away. So what was the verdict on the ham croquettes? A+ indeed. They were homemade style, plump and tender on the inside, and perfectly fried on the outside! The only other menu item we ordered was the ground beef stuffed plantain, which was yummy as well. But, I'll say that I was stunned by how perfect all of their other food looked (you can see some of their items being cooked behind a prep counter). And from the flutter of other customers coming in and out for take-out, Gustico has already acquired quite a customer following! I'm eager to visit Gustico again and look forward to trying some of the other eye candy I saw on my first visit - Pernil (roasted pork shoulder), Oxtail Stew, Rice and Beans, etc.!

A last minute stop between doctors appointments turned into a very pleasant experience after a very difficult day. The food always fresh and appetizing here so I wanted to try it out. The owner was there and couldn't be more attentive to us and other customers at the restaurant. Everything comes out fresh from the kitchen and refresh often at front. The restaurant has outdoor seating and a few tables inside. Everything was delicious, fresh and authentic Spanish/Dominican food. Definitely recommend it.

I'm so excited about this Latin restaurant. Especially since it's one of the few we have in this area. All the food we get is well cooked and always has the right amount of flavor. The prices are just right, and the staff is super friendly. I'll be ordering from this place frequently!

    The veggies taste horrible.

This is Cuban food your abuela - and in Annarella's case, her dear Mima - would make for you. (And many of the recipes are hers) Everything on their menu is good. Seriously, you can't go wrong: Mima's daily specials, empanadas, the De Todito Pollo chicken sandwich, Mima's croquetas, the oxtail sandwich, the Cuban sandwich & medianoche, the vaca frita fries (yes, if I lived closer, I'd be even chunkier for sure!) and one of my cravings, the Elena Ruz (a classic Cuban treat of turkey, cream cheese and strawberry jam - it just works!) Important to note: "Asi viene el sandwich meng!" Please don't ask for modifications on anything they make - just trust them and have the true experiencia cubana - they know what they're doing. :) It's a sweet, tiny spot with a cute counter to enjoy your feast. They also have great fruit batidos (shakes) - mango, fruta bomba (papaya) and mamey -- all delicious and made fresh. They'll also make a cafecito for you - all part of the most lovely, authentic Cuban experience you'll ever have for many miles. Dale!

The space is small and cute with a counter to eat and appears to be very clean. The owner (I think the woman is the owner) is super friendly. The food is all reasonably priced and is fantastic. Went with ropa vieja, cuban sandwich, empanada, and the pudding dessert. It's one of those places that after you leave you text ppl in the area telling them they have to come here.

Just got in town...wandering around for a lunch spot and saw Columbia House...quickly checked…read more"Yelp" of course...and based on reviews it was a go. Besides almost every table full at 1:15 lunch...including the back room and it is a large restaurant. We were seated without a wait. Took longer to navigate the huge menu. Hubby and I just wanted a light lunch. He ordered the chicken wings and I ordered the "fish" sandwich w/o cheese. Unfortunately, I was served the chicken sandwich not the requested fish sandwich. It still came with avacado, onions, tomato and lettuce. (No cheese as requested). Once I took a bite I realized I had the wrong sandwich. I was disappointed. Waiter apologized and offered to switch it up...I can see he felt bad and we were not quite sure where we both messed up...could have been me? Him? Not a big deal...I just kept it and enjoyed. Chicken was slighty dry (cheese would have fixed the dryness) but seasoned perfectly. It was a large sandwich with two layers of thin grilled chicken. I would split it next time. I like the way it was served...wrapped in a paper. I requested un-seasoned fries and my request was honored. It was all a generous portion. The restaurant is high energy, food around us all looked delicious and fresh, cocktails looked really good...I wanted to taste the cappuccino martini next to us...tempting to order one. Service was timely, friendly and efficient. Noise level a tad high however it was easy enough to carry on a conversation. Overall, I understand the reason this place was so busy...definately a solid fun place...wish it were on my neighborhood as I enjoy exploring different dishes. Thumbs up for sure.

What a true hidden gem in my stomping grounds of edgewater. I hope this spot continues to succeed…read moreand grow. I came in for lunch with my date, we had great service, delicious food, and even better conversation with the hostess (forgive me I forget her name, but she was a young very sweet and social chick working around 1 pm on a Friday). The portions are generous and the prices are very modest. I will absolutely come back soon. tostones rellenos: i grabbed 2 chicken and 2 shrimp. these are a must get. they can be shared or eaten as an entree like i did. i loved them, and would get them again. theyre very full and have enough flavor on them. i preferred the chicken over the shrimp for sure, i wish the shrimp pieces were a little bigger. creamy corn soup was nice, not too overpowering, but the sweetness of the corn comes through. we closed it off with a dessert empanada. the arroz con leche is a must get. i loved the brown sugar and cinnamon on the outside. do not sleep on this dessert!

When I overheard they were expecting a party of seven, I decided to sit outside. The outdoor seating is basically in a cramped alley, and the tables looked a bit flimsy, but the waitress was very gracious--she wiped everything down, pushed two tables together for us, and really took care of us throughout the night. Service outside was attentive and warm, with great recommendations and frequent check-ins. The food was very good and extremely affordable for the portion sizes. The Caribbean wings (about 7 for $13) could easily be a meal on their own, as could the stuffed tostones. My friend preferred the chicken tostones cups over the beef. I had the chicken milanesa, which came with a sweet mustard sauce. The portion was hearty, and I swapped the rice and beans for tostones--crispy outside, fluffy inside, and well seasoned. Everything was cooked with care and flavor. The menu itself is broad and interesting--lots of Caribbean favorites but also South American options, including a whole ceviche section. I even noticed a chicharrón ceviche, which I'd never seen before. Definitely something for everyone. That said, the restaurant has some limitations. The space isn't really set up for dine-in and feels more suited for takeout. Operationally there are a few kinks: no tap water, no dedicated restroom (just one accessed by walking through the kitchen, which doesn't feel sanitary), and the outside ambiance is a little overdone with bright lights and flowers that come off more kitschy than refined--especially compared to Terravita right next door. Would I return? Probably, but more for takeout than dining in.

I had high hopes for this place given the reviews but it was simply not good. We came for lunch…read morearound 11:30 (Google states they opened at this time) but they did not open until noon. The place was surprisingly busy and there were only 2 servers which resulted in slow and inattentive service. The menu is ambitious and interesting but the food tasted very bland. We started with the Asian ribs and jalapeno poppers. Both looked unappetizing. The ribs were dry despite sitting in a pool of sauce which tasted burnt. The jalapeno poppers looked like something I would make at home and tasted that way as well. My wife's burger was OK, although she ordered it medium and it came pink so she had to send it back. My pork mojo bowl was ok, but underseasoned as well. Surprisingly the mojo sauce was bland as well when it's typically bold and garlicky. Overall I don't get why this restaurant has such stellar reviews - the food overall was bland and looked homemade. I wouldn't come back.
