I called on Monday to reserve for Saturday, the staff tells me I had to wait until Wednesday to make a reservation for Saturday. Visited La Havana 59 for an early Mother's Day dinner because Rumba Cubana was super packed. The parking lot was pretty full, but there was no wait for a table. All the menus are tablets, and you can switch between English and Spanish. Frustratingly, there was no Cuban sandwich available on the dinner menu. We got an appetizer sampler to start. Most of it was fried foods, so it was decent. For an entree, I got the fish filet in garlic sauce. The fish was tender and the sauce was flavorful. I also tried the oxtail. For Mother's Day my mom wanted to eat at a Cuban restaurant. The one she chose had a 1+ hour wait so we decided to give La Havana 59 a try. The parking lot was packed so I expected there to be a wait but was pleasantly surprised when our party of 5 (plus a baby!) was seated right away. The place is lively and a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. There's a stage/dance floor in the middle so I can imagine it can turn kind of clubby later in the night. Interestingly, the menus are all tablets and while really cool at first, it got annoying when a couple of our menus started to glitch. High tech but also leaves more room for failure. The service was friendly though and decently quick. We ordered a few appetizers and they came out in a reasonable amount of time. We got a sampler, croquettas, and a tamal. Everything tasted great so I had high hopes for our entrees. I went with the Mother's Day Special Relleno (stuffed) Salmon. It was a little overcooked but still really tasty. I believe it was stuffed with some crab meat and cheese. I also really liked the sauce that covered it. My dad got oxtail and it was seasoned very well but the oxtail pieces were cooked inconsistently. Some were soft and came off the bone very easily while others were tough to the point I had to use my hands to gnaw the meat off the bone. Everyone else's dishes were pretty good too. It was my first time in this place. I came to celebrate few friends birthday, unfortunately my friend and I arrived 30 minutes before the reservation time and we have to wait by the bar. Since we were going to drink and eat by the pre-menu on our table we didn't want to order anything from the bar, I ask the bartender for a glass of water which he didn't seem happy with. Remember they get tips from the orders here. BTW he took forever to get me the water. At the end I just felt bad and ordered 2 drinks for me and my friend. My point is he couldn't be more amicable? A lively place with live entertainment. Our server was friendly. We were a large party. We had reservations and were seated right away. We ordered pitchers of Sangria. For apps, we ordered croquettes and Bandera Guajira. The apps were good. They came out quickly. For dinner, I had the chicken steak with one side, tostones. The chicken steak was large. I was disappointed because the price I paid I would expect two sides. Food had good taste. For dessert, we were able to bring a birthday cake. We were not charged a fee to cut it. Music is great. Visited this place yesterday afternoon. It's a very nice location with beautiful artifacts and great food. Service was quick, attentive, efficient. My only complaint was that the lettuce looked like it wasn't washed and taken out if the container and thrown on the plate. I only ate the avocado. The fried fish was also a little bland. I will be returning but during late hours to enjoy the music. I don't drink soda or liquor. I had to ask for water numerous times. Like DUDE... just leave the pitcher! The desert was on point! Delicious. I like that they charge automatic gratuity on your bill but mention it in bold letters on your receipt, so you know not to add more unless you wanted to. My friends and I came in on a Saturday evening. We tried making a reservation the night before for a group of 8 but were told they were full and we'd have to come in the day of as a walk-in & wait. Not a problem. We did find out the day of that they didn't take reservations? Regardless, we were sat in under 10 minutes after being told there was an 1.5 HR wait. No complaints there! Let's start with the drinks, the margaritas were on the sweeter side but very strong. I originally ordered a tamarind margarita but they were out and tried substituting this with strawberry without asking me. I ended up requesting a pina marg in place of the tamarind. After the margs we did a pitcher of a mango-guava sangria. Again, a little sweet but very tasty and strong. We'd definitely order it again. The food was very good. We ordered the Havanero appetizer and loved the little fried Ham & cheese bites, the corn fritters were also tasty. We really enjoyed the app. We also ordered tostones rellenos de camerones and ropa vieja. Both were very good. For entrees, we ordered the ropa vieja, Salmon Havanero, 2 churrascos, and a bistec de palomilla. We all really enjoyed our entrees. One skirt steak was bland, the other had really great flavor and melted in your mouth. We also ordered dessert, the coppa catalana which was phenomenal. My favorite bite of the evening and the creme brûlée. The creme brûlée was a bit gritty and wasn't as creamy as I'd expect it to be, it still had good flavor. This is actually my 3rd time visiting in the last 3 weeks. The first time, I picked up a to go order of "Pechuga a la plancha" with white rice and black beans for my daughter. According to my 9 years old daughter, it was delicious. The second time, We had a family get together and we decided to go there. Once again, to be fair,I didn't have a change to eat that day. BUT the first thing that stood out, was fact that they DO NOT give you "Pan con Mantequilla". Being that this is a Cuban Restaurant that is expected from them. I asked the waiter, if I could buy an order Pan con mantequilla. He said I CAN NOT, since they don't have bread for that. I was very disappointed. Needless to say my family ordered kids meals, steak sandwich and a steak with rice and black bean. They don't have "pan con mantequilla" bread, BUT they have it for a Steak Sandwich. This is odd because is the same type of bread. The restaurant is looks very nice and they had a guy playing live music. The family loved that food and the service was also good. On today's visit, I went with my girlfriend. She ordered the Oxtail and she was going to ask for rice and beans, but the bar tender/waiter told her ONLY one side is included. This was also weird because it's always two sides. I ordered a "Pechuga de pollo empalizado" with rice and I also asked for an order of black beans. According to my girlfriend her food was AMAZING. on the other hand the size of my pechuga empanizada looked exactly like the pechuga from last week's kids menu. I was also NOT impressed with the flavor nor size of the pechuga. It was cut REALLY THIN and the rice and the beans I was only able to get two and a half spoons of beans, everything else was juice. I got the bill. The first thing I looked for, was for price of the two and a half spoons of black beans. But I couldn't find it. To my surprise, it's already included with the original order. Came here for a small celebratory luncheon with family. To begin, the waitstaff was very friendly and courteous... very attentive and a big reason why I offered 3 stars. We ordered some guacamole with chips. What we got was some mashed avocados and a sprig of cilantro. Had to be the most bland guacamole ever... no chopped onions, no tomatoes, no lime juice, no garlic, just the sprig of cilantro (not a bunch chopped up and added) and no jalapeños!! The chips were good. My wife and SIL had the boneless chicken breast topped with sautéed onions... which was sent back. the breast was pounded to thin... and then overcooked... served with veggies that my wife insists were frozen. (Me... I can't tell the difference) My BIL and I had the Cuban sandwich... which was 'ok'... but not great. The only good dish (I understand) at the table was the skirt steak... which was 'melt in your mouth good' and I ALMOST ordered. Oh, the empanadas were also pretty good.,, As was the Sangria and the margaritas... made with real lime juice (not packaged) There is a band setup waiting for the weekend and this place does look like it rocks on Sat/Sunday. I heard good things about this place and decided to check it out because I was considering having my birthday dinner there. However, I didn't realize that there's valet parking only. No street parking is available. Feeling uncomfortable, because I didn't have any cash on me to tip the staff, (and I'm NOT the type of person to tip poorly), I decided to come back another day. A week later I returned and there were some young men and women in the parking lot who appeared to be servers and/or bartenders. They stared at me for a long time and didn't say anything. When I spoke more, they snickered at me and giggled because the place had closed early. A more professional staff would have apologized to me for the inconvenience. Guess owners became greedy and could care less about the customers and customer service! Had to wait over an hour for a table when 3/4 of the restaurant was empty. They waited for a table to clear to sit us there and it had a column that blocked the live music which was one of the main reasons we went! My entree was the size of an appetizer or for a dish for a child! Half the orders were wrong too! Then after we had spent almost $500 I asked for another drink and they told us we had to leave cause we were there 2 hours! They have a 2 hour limit... never again!! Lesson learned!! I had a 30 guests party for a birthday celebration. The team of servers were very attentive and extremely polite. They served us like kings and queens. The hostess Claudia was excellent! The atmosphere was lively and fun for a Saturday evening. The music was fantastic. Every one of my guests were up and dancing. The food and drinks were a home run. A well deserved 5 star evening. Food is a 2.5-3 The party platter has 1 tiny empanada chicken was great beef was over cooked not as flavorful. The corn fritters were too wet not grounded corn like what I am used to. Way too much of the cheap stuff like chorizo and so is not really worth it but we had shellfish allergies so no other option. The Plantains were cold. Order rice or Moro and maduros Instead. The ropa vieja needed flavor. The maduros were a bit undercooked in some areas. My friend picked this restaurant to celebrate her new job, we went on a Wednesday night so there was only 3 tables occupied. They have a nice stage setup for live music, I assume for weekends. I bet it gets crazy and fun then, as they were testing the music while we were there. 1. Not pictured, our appetizer of garlic shrimp. 7 pieces, seasoned well and came in a delicious butter garlic sauce...but like no bread to dip or anything. We asked for bread and he said they didn't have any, and brought up chips. Awkward. The chips weren't even good. 2. My friend ordered the vaca frita and sangria and seemed to enjoy both. 3. I ordered the churrasco based on our waiters suggestion, and also got yellow rice with red beans. The churrasco was cooked nicely, seasoned well. I wasn't a fan of the chimichurri, a little oily in my opinion. I'm a big stickler for food temperature and the rice and beans were barley warm, and quickly turned cold. Stopped in today after having oral surgery to pick up some food to go around 3:30pm. Asked the bar tender If I could buy 2 large chicken soups, broth only. He replied yes. 30 minutes later I get a tied bag with the soups. I asked again, Is this all broth for the most part. He replied yes again. After getting home, it was 2 normal chicken soups. This place is lively, festive and colorful (with flashes of light and live music from the dance floor) - A perfect choice for my friend's birthday celebration! We were seated at a long table and along the wall, there was a cool painting of people, guitar, flowers, the words "Welcome to La Havana 59" and the lit up old classic light blue sports car. My friends ordered the Havanero Platter, which was absolutely HUGE and is easily enough for 4-5 people. Included in this appetizer platter were beef, chicken and guava + cream cheese empanadas, croquettes with potato and chorizo filling, tamales, corn fritters, ham and cream cheese roll, fried sausage and fried cheese. All this for only $11 - You can't beat that price! I got to try the tamales, corn fritters, croquettes, fried sausage and cheese. The tamales were served warm, nice and soft with yummy chicken. The corn fritters were little bite-sized fried pieces with corn and cheese - Great flavor and plenty of crispiness. The croquettes were fried balls stuffed with well seasoned potato and ground beef. The sausage and cheese were also enjoyable and full of flavor. There is a lot of fried food items though so overall, it's quite heavy and you have to be careful not to fill up on just the appetizers. For my entree, I selected the steak with lobster tail, veggies, mashed potatoes and plaintains. The cost was $30 wasn't too bad for everything it came with. The steak was hearty and thick, with lovely seared marks on it. The steak was also juicy though a tad on the tough side, probably because I ordered it medium well. The brown sauce it was cooked in tasted wonderfully flavorful and savory. The lobster tail was pretty small, but quite delicious and fresh. There was a mix of zucchini, cauliflower, and carrots, as well as asparagus. The veggies were a little bland. However, the maduros (sweet fried plaintains) and mashed potatoes made up for it. The plaintains were amazing! Slightly caramelized, melt in your mouth tender, as well as succulent. And the mashed potatoes were presented prettily in a wavy mound and was oh so smooth! So we sit for lunch on a workday, it's empty, and we're handed the tablets to see the menu. One is already dead. My friend brings it to the hostess and she's met with "why you bringing this back?" and replied...it's dead. Then the tablet I had went dead. She brought that back to get another. Already, I'm annoyed. Is this a thing? Tablet menus? I found it idiotic and the fact two were dead says a lot. The waitress was nice, we asked her about items that appeared to not be on the menu any longer, and also you cannot order Rellenos de Papas unless you get the platter of appetizers it comes on. They removed some items from the menu and renamed others. It was very odd scrolling through the menu and finding that things I used to like were ... poof, gone. Went for dinner yesterday and I will say it has an upbeat ambiance but the food left ALOT to be desired. We started with the Masitas Campesina, which for pork was sadly flavorless, even after the squeeze of lime we added, and the Havanero mix for two which was just slightly better, but basically tasted like deep fried oil. The beef empanada tasted like old meat. For dinner I had the Vaca Frita which was fair, with Arroz Blanco and black beans, which had a very strong burnt taste to them. My hubby had the Churrasco with Moro and he said it was bland also. On the thinner side and he's definitely had better. Overall, it's a place to go to have a few drinks and if you drink enough, maybe the food tastes better. The red Sangria was decent at least. Doubt we'll go back. Cuban Pete's is so much better and worth the drive for real Cuban food IMO. read more

This place used to be my go, for the service and the AMAZING food! Very sad to see the quality of food decline. (The service was still good). Ordered a Filet Mignon, medium, and one of the sides came extremely burnt, with the inside was well done. Also ordered the Palomilla Steak, which came extremely cold.
