I was treated by Dr. Reeve after an injury resulting in a trauma to my jaw. My mobility was limited to eating by straw. Thankfully, I did not require surgery but rather insensitive physical therapy. Dr. Reeve is a straight forward no-nonsense oral surgeon. She was direct and clear about my injury and what it would take to regain full mobility. Im so appreciative of her skills and directness. I highly recommend Dr. Reeve for any needs regarding the jaw. One draw back to mention is the disorganization of some of her staff. It can be very difficult to get a call back, response to questions and even an appointment due to certain staff members. They are either poorly trained, inexperienced or a poor fit for the job. If you can deal with these annoyances seeing Dr. Reeve is worth it. Hopefully this aspect of her office improves soon. read more

What a waste of time. What a circus. Even the front desk personnel are inept and rude. I never had a consult with her and only had residents see me. I needed help for a painful mouth condition, which is a result of having jaw surgery 2 years ago, and maybe it's better that I never received treatment from her since I've now seen the one-star reviews she's garnered from individuals who were dissatisfied with her treatment. This place makes no sense. I found her via a Google search, and supposedly, she accepted my insurance. Then I was told that the residents evaluate you for whatever procedure you need and not her. The last time I went there, I thought I'd see her because I requested her, but they had me evaluated AGAIN by residents. She was there, but she didn't see me. I heard her and the residents talking outside the examining room I was in, and it seemed like there was a lot of confusion going on regarding who was going to see what patient when there was barely anyone in the waiting room. I was sent home with a prescription for mouthwash after being given a resident AGAIN. Really?! Then I got a bill for $464 because the office billed my insurance company and they're not covering it. Why would they?. They were sent a claim for a visit with her when she didn't see me. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I had told whoever I scheduled my appointment with that I had to decide on surgery and that I needed to see her so I could have a plan and a consult with someone who has actually been practicing for a long time. How are you supposed to be properly diagnosed by residents to go through a procedure, which, in my case, is complicated and distressing?! I am not saying that the residents were not pleasant, because they were, but they don't have the experience to deal with complicated issues, and I'm just done. I'd have been glad to pay the bill if she saw me so I could proceed with trying to correct my medical issues. Dr. Reeve is hands down the best doctor I have ever met. She went WAY beyond what any other doctor would do. She really took charge of resolving my wife's serious medical issue, coordinating with multiple other specialists, and ultimately is responsible for saving my wife's life. After years of dealing with TMJ and severe flareups which at times prevented me from going to work/social activities, I visited her office for a consult and even without going for drastic treatment options like surgery, my symptoms have improved significantly just from even learning more about jaw alignment/posture and other holistic methods. I've seen other specialists (all at great hospitals etc) and found them to be condescending, not really listening, or just sending you off with steroid rx and a 5 min consult just to have you schedule another followup with them after no real treatment plan. I think she's skilled, attentive to patient concerns and makes an effort to inform the patient of all of the different treatment options/lifestyle changes. As someone who works in the biomedical field, I feel I can trust her recommendations and I would ***HIGHLY recommend*** her for TMJ or any related issues The office staff are also pleasant and making appts is not difficult at all. read more

gwen reeve performed oral surgery on the insides of my cheeks because my teeth kept on biting lax skin. The left side was ok, but the right side was barely addressed since I am still having he problem with biting the right side. I followed up with a post op exam with gwen reeve six weeks later while there was still a bit of swelling and did not have a full realization of the final effect. After almost a year I understood with the total healing that my right side still needed the fix. I could even see and feel on the inside of my mouth that the incision on the left cheek was much larger than the incision on the right...uneven surgery and thus not acceptable. I went for an appointment to present this and the office said she needed $500 more for a visit, which should be part of the surgery follow up. I left the office, covid pandemic happened, turned 65-on Medicare and so now I went back to start over, three years later. I made an appointment and came in from Connecticut to see reeve and the office manager said reeve was not in. This was the second time it happened. I informed patient services about this. What a disorganized, amateur, terrible medical practice! NEVER NEVER GO THERE!!!!! NYC has so many better options than gwen reeve read more

Her staff is terrible and they will not help you if you're in an emergency after the doctor performs surgery on you. Doctor is way too busy to treat you properly and the ladies in her team are just rude and lazy and you will feel helpless through the entire healing process which can be very painful after a procedure. I highly recommend Dr Reeve. Her approach is very effective, clear and professional. She performed a cyst removal in my lower jaw/gum. The surgery was pretty complex as the cyst had been growing for quite a while and was going all around the roots of my teeth. Yet the recovery was much less difficult than I anticipated and Dr Reeve was very caring and responsive to my questions. A few weeks later I could barely feel a trace of any surgery. My gums felt as if untouched. And I didn't have to take the stronger pain relievers a single time. In the pre-op process it was very helpful to be able to do my CT scan within the hospital and have the results directly communicated to the doctor. Dr Reeve's office is very nice and easy to communicate with over email and phone. The day of the surgery the wait was quite long but I apreciated that once it was done, my medication was already called in and prepared from the pharmacy on site. The Presbyterian Weill Cornell hospital can feel a bit overwhelming by its size and administration but it's also known to be one of the best hospitals in New York and I definitely felt I was in good hands. read more

The care that I have received from Dr. Reeve has been life changing. The chronic pain I have been in for years has been significantly reduced...I can not thank her enough. Dr. Reeves is my new favorite person. Because of her, I now have relief, something I haven't had in over 15 years. The TMJ surgery was much less invasive than what other doctors do, based on my research. Three weeks out, my scars can't even be seen, & most importantly I have little to no pain. I was referred to Dr. Reeve for my TMJ symptoms. Upon my initial consultation with Dr. Reeve, I immediately felt comfortable and confident in her ability to convey her knowledge of my medical issues and understanding of how they were impacting my daily living. After non-surgical interventions failed, the decision was made to address my underbite and TMJ pain with Orthognathic surgery. Dr. Reeve worked to coordinate my pre-surgical orthodontic work with my local orthodontist, making sure that I felt informed every step of the way. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Reeve was able to ease any of my last-minute concerns again through her fantastic bedside manner, making my walk to the OR one of confidence rather than nervousness. I was diagnosed with severe clenching and TMJ. I did quite a bit of research on other options prior to surgery. It seems I exerted all options and had no choice but surgery. From my first appt with Dr. Reeve I have had nothing except excellent conversations with her. I explained thoroughly my issues and options I have tried. She walked me through the whole process of testing and then regrouped with me on the next steps. I was a perfect candidate for the surgery and was hoping for the best. She explained everything from what the surgery was about to the healing process. I followed Dr. Reeve 's orders to the end. I am so happy with my post surgery follow up. I have gained motion back in my jaw and we still have some work on my clenching. We are now working on Botox injections to help relax the muscles. I've done one round so far and today was my second round (5 months apart). I highly recommend Dr. Reeve and will be working with her again on dental implants as well. read more

I have severe TMJ / jaw grinding issues that would not resolve from other treatments. I saw 4 other doctors over a course of 5 years and none of the treatments worked (eg. mouth guard, specialized bite guards, muscle relaxants) but the Botox injections that Dr. Reeve administers worked wonderfully. The duration isn't as good as I had hoped (effects go away after ~4 months) but has been the only effective solution thus far. Dr. Reeve doesn't try to push any other devices or other procedures onto the patients and actually has a thorough understanding of the TMJ issues. I moved out of NY but considered coming back to the city just for appointments with her. read more

She is the worse doctor I have ever had. Based on my previous experiences, Weill Cornell has the best physicians and medical services and I always feel satisfied every time I have an appointment at Weil Cornell due to the good service and treatment that I received until I met Dr. Reeve and I was shocked by her careless behavior. She never responses back and does not care about her patient's concerns no matter how much you called the office. I am definitely going to replace her with another physician. read more
