I meditated a lot and it was one of the few times in my adult life I've ever felt such a deep level of peace in my mind and soul. The food was also phenomenal and I'm not even usually a vegetarian. This is the real deal for a spiritual retreat not just some frou-frou trendy thing for soft spoiled people wanting a spa experience, their ego catered to and needing their hand held throughout. It was transforming for me. I was there on my own spiritual journey and it was beautiful. I brought nicotine lozenges because I'd been a 30 year pack a day smoker and used those and I simply never smoked again after I left because I no longer desired to. Much spiritual clarity was found within as I sat still within nature and myself. I am going back for a 3 week silent retreat this coming May for more stillness and quiet contemplation. The tirth is very open and respecting of all people and ways of being and beliefs. I am Taoist and found this a perfect very healing and holy space for contemplation of the soul and being. If I could afford to spend a year there in silent meditation, I would do so in a heartbeat. It still might be possible so I am not ruling it out. Until then though I look forward to my next visit. I also highly recommend the yoga classes and found them very refreshing and a nice chance to gather and quietly focus our energies and bodies together with others. (For clarity: Ben R. They create a very welcoming, inclusive space where I have never felt judged or less than. I have always felt safe under their instruction, knowing that they may challenge me, but that they would never push me to injury. They normalize and encourage the use of props, modifications, etc, allowing everyone to explore each pose in their body without forcing it or feeling discouraged. I have also had several work related injuries during my time at NTY, and the instructors have always helped me to modify my practice, without making me feel like the center of attention. This community is truly one of the best I have ever encountered! I have always loved yoga, and have attended many classes at different studios over the years. As a plus sized person, I often felt intimidated, judged, and self conscious at these other studios. At NTY I felt immediately welcomed, safe, and comfortable. They offer different types of classes, so that you can pick the best fit for your personal goals. There are people at all levels present in each class, and I have never once felt like I didn't belong. If you are at all like me, maybe trying yoga for the first time, or feeling unsure in a new fitness environment, this is the place for you! Looking to take your fitness goals to the next level, or improve your flexibility without hurting yourself? You are welcome here!
