This place is a long time family favorite! It is a little hidden gem. When I lived in Michigan years ago we came just for the cinnamon bread. It makes the best French toast! Anytime I get up this way in Michigan, it a must to stop to get the baked goods! Delicious! The service counter is very quick. She was very nice and willing to answer our questions. OMG....what a great experience we had there. We were visiting Michigan from Georgia and wanted a chance to see one of the Great Lakes. Not knowing where we were heading, came across your lovely restaurant. We only wanted to experience local restaurants and yours was one to remember and try to come back one day. We were on our way up north and stopped for a late breakfast/early lunch at the H & H Bakery & Restaurant since the reviews looked pretty good. I got a veggie omelette and it didn't come with potatoes but it came with the choice of white, wheat or rye (which I realized was pumpernickel rye once the waitress brought my breakfast). The omelette had american cheese which wasn't very good considering we were in a "cheese" town. I probably should have asked for it without cheese. The toast was thick and delicious!! Considering it's a bakery, I'm thinking it's baked fresh on site. They also sell loaves of the bread by the register. My friend got biscuits and gravy and said it was good, but I gave him a piece of my delicious rye and I think he really enjoyed dipping that in his gravy. When I walked in I was immediately uncomfortable. Sure, I was dressed like a big city girl but that shouldn't matter. I was looked up and down like I did t belong. I actually went back outside to wait for my party because I was so uncomfortable. And I'm a confident chick. The place stunk a little bit like there may be a sewer problem. My table was sticky. The fish was greasy, and we all had a gut ache after we left. The server wasn't wearing a mask. I let this go, as these are the times we are living in. Until 2 people from my table and myself ended up with Covid the following week... Understand please that we were not in any places together other than this restaurant. We all developed the symptoms 4 days later, and one is still under oxygen 3 weeks after positive test. health department never tracked my case, so here I am spreading the word. We were driving through Pinconning to our final destination and stopped at this place on a Friday morning. While the decor of the place certainly leaves a lot to be desired, the breakfast food we had was exceptional with healthy portions that could be split between two people. From the H&H Specials on the menu, I had the H&H breakfast of scrambled eggs mixed with American potatoes and bacon.l (see photo) The pumpernickel toast was homemade and thickly sliced. My fiancé had a meal from the specials on the menu also (potatoes O'Brien with two eggs and a biscuit with sausage gravy). Generous, generous, generous portions! And DELICIOUS! Rhonda was our server and she was very attentive. We also had one of the donuts from the bakery-- fresh and also very good. I was struggling to pick either 2 stars, or 3 stars. I went with 3 stars simply because I want to like this place. My girlfriend suggested this place on our way home from our day away excursion. We ordered several different items. The salad bar is just "ok", the jalapeño poppers are your typical frozen ones that fall apart when you pick them up. When you go to dip them in the ranch sauce, you leave breading behind, and by the time it makes it to your mouth, it's almost bare. The perch dinner I was honestly looking forward to. As you can tell from the picture, the breading is soggy, not much of any crunch, and just did not look all that appetizing. It was a disappointment. It wasn't the worse fish I have ever had, but certainly not in the top 25. The veggies on the plate, once again, frozen, and just way too much garlic. So much garlic in fact, it was hard to eat. It is safe to say, we will not be returning to this place, and when in the area, we will choose something else. It's a bummer too. I hear their baked goods are delicious. read more

We ordered a couple of salads to go & one was as ordered but mine was almost comically wrong. I ordered a Mandarin Orange salad with no eggs... the salad I picked up had lettuce, almonds, onions, cheese, chicken, & eggs (2 whole eggs that were easy to remove)... it lacked mandarin oranges, cucumbers, & crispy noodles (the items I was pretty excited for on the salad). When we opened our lunch at the park I just laughed at how the salad turned out. When I placed my order on the phone there was some confusion & I wish I would have asked her to repeat our exact order... The chicken on my salad was a breaded fried chicken - it was dry. The blue cheese dressing was a bit yellow ... The cookies were ok. They said 15 minutes from when we placed the order, but it wasn't ready when I arrived at the said time. It served the purpose of an ok lunch from a local establishment that we could enjoy at the local bayside park on our road trip. I might try it out again especially for dine in, but I would not necessarily recommend that you get lunch here. read more

This is one of only a handful of places in town. Located right on M-13, this location is easy to access. They rotate their specials regularly and offer hefty portions. The menu seems to rather extensive and it worries me how they keep all their ingredients to cover it both in stock & fresh at the same time. The place is lived in but the servers are nice. Depending on the time of day, you can be in and out in about 40 minutes. There is nothing remarkable about this place but nothing dismal either. I think if you grew up going there, it's a mainstay for you but for newbies or passers through, it does just enough to get the job done. Eggs Benedict and the shrimp with pasta (can't recall the spelling) but was a pile of linguini with a decadent cheese sauce topped with fresh basil and chopped tomato bits. Food is typical diner food. Their breakfast food is much better than their lunch or dinner meals. Everything comes from Gordon Food Service or Sysco meaning it is really just heated up poor quality food. This is the mark of a lazy owner. Except the donuts and baked goods, which seem freshly baked. The decor is horrible, purple painted ceiling tiles to hide water leak damage, dust and cobwebs in the corners, visible sitting water on the floor in the kitchen. There is no charm, nothing that makes this place memorable, except the flies. The worst is the flies. My family and I have started calling the place Fly & Fly Bakery. The place isn't properly ventilated so the kitchen builds up a lot of heat. So the staff and cooks prop open the back door and flies find their way in. The health inspector really needs to get involved with this place. The owners have given up and obviously don't care about the service or quality. In this day and age there is no excuse for such poor service. Once a relative who used to work there stopped working there, my family also stopped going. No need to waste our hard earned money on poor food, mediocre service, and flies. read more

The pancakes are literally the size of a person's head, the cinnamon toast is to die for, and you will not believe how affordable this place is. I got a scrambled Egg dish that had onions, American fries, and mushrooms (instead of the bacon it comes with) and it was so huge and was unable to finish it. This came with a side of toast and of course I couldn't pass up on trying the cinnamon toast. I tried a bite of the pancakes and they are so delicious and have a cake-like taste to them. They have everything from cinnamon French toast, to omelets, to giant breakfast specials full of meat and eggs any way, and also have a specific menu for specials on breakfast and lunches before a certain time. The service is kinda slow but they are a very busy place on Sunday mornings so that was probably why I experienced that. Any of you in the Pinconning area need to check this place out either for a full meal or even to stop in for their homemade donuts. Yes... this place is also a bakery. The H & H bakery has the most amazing pizza! They also serve delicious burgers and and beer battered fries. We lived in the area for 3 years and probably never went a week without having their pizza. If you are looking for ambience there is none here. Very dated and old. If you can get past that you will be pleasantly surprised by the food. Not much of a fan of buffets in general but they do have a breakfast buffet. I prefer to order food off their menu to that. The baked goods are really good old fashioned baked goods and the English muffin bread is TO DIE FOR!! read more

The tables were sticky no matter how many times I had them wiped down. The staff is friendly, but kind of dumb. She gave me incorrect change - twice. The service ranges from pretty good to awesome depending on whom you get. (Sit in the older ladies sections, they're awesome.)
