I looked it up and apparently if cheap cotton is used this can happen. I spent around $40/item so I expected to get more than one wear out of them. I e-mailed the company and they just said, "Sorry! You washed them so there is nothing we can do." I'd definitely spend your money elsewhere if you want clothes that last more than a few minutes.

Especially when national stores such as Neiman Marcus, Tory Burch, Anthropologie, Kate Spade, J Crew, Nordstrom, etc., etc., have actual year round, fantastic sales and/or gifts with purchase, it doesn't seem necessary to buy what all too often wears like a "seconds" quality from a second tier outlet. Not so at Eileen Fisher. I'm not certain where the "Company" comes in to the fold, since quality and style at the outlet, so to speak, appears the exact same as EF on sale at NM, etc. Either I'm a complete fool, or they're the real thing on a clearance sale. Most items are in no ways cheap or fast fashion prices. EF sells the classics in natural fibers and recycled fabrics. It's not unusual to see a cozy soft Fall coat made of Alpaca and sewn in Italy to a Tencel jersey dress cut & sewn in NYC, knit & dyed in Montreal. Each clothing label tells how the fabric was responsibly made and the final product manufacturing that went into completing each item sold. Be forewarned, the store is packed to the brim, and dressing rooms force a waiting line, albeit, an efficient waiting line. Especially during one of their fantastic (advertised) sales and sample sales. It's worth the wait, and worth one's time combing the racks for something sharp, fashion forward, well made and comfy. For shorter girls, they have a lot of petite items and for taller girls, there's a huge amount of regular sizes. Same for style. There's things for grandma's, 20-something's and everyone in between. A great store all-around, and what's best about the brand is their clothes last and last longer than you want to wear them. They also have an exchange policy of $5.00 towards new EF's, which I'm not certain how that works, other than I am familiar in the quality of their clothes which endure and can thus be recycled from one wearer to another. No fast fashion to sadly end up in a landfill, here. EF clothes can potentially last a lifetime!

And the group behind the register literally couldn't be bothered to stop chatting to ring me up when I found something. They pretty much just refuse to acknowledge there is another human being in the store. Selection is decent, but it's a really frustrating shopping experience. I will only buy here if I can't find it online or elsewhere.

I found some cute winter jackets and winter clothing for 50% off. Some of their regularly priced items were great too and felt like good quality. I did notice that some of the sale sweaters may not last too long plus I noted some loose thread of some other pieces of clothing. Since there was a winter storm, the store and mall was not busy at all. They did run out of bigger bags so we had to stuff everything into multiple thin plastic bags. One of the salespeople was pretty friendly and pointed out a few cute jackets that were on sale. The self service kiosk was easy to navigate. Make sure you keep your receipt on hand since you need to scan the barcode when you leave. I definitely will return again since the price point was great.

If you are lucky enough to find something on sale in your size, snatch it up. The store is well organized but a lot of the popular sizes do sell out quickly in preferred styles. Checkout is still relatively fast because it's so automated with you being to just put everything in and the machines do all the work for you. I did an online in store purchase and was waiting a while as there was an extra associate who was able to help, but didn't acknowledge me until the other lead at the register told him to assist me. If you do purchase online and need to do a return in store, they will just give you a gift card as they won't credit your original card.

Some of the lowest reviews are legit and some are just plain asinine. For example the kid that said…read morethe other stores look cooler, that's probably the dumbest thing I've ever read. The prices are actually fair since they're a lot cheaper than most of the stores I shop at and they have excellent quality. They always have sales so I would check the website. If you have bought a lot of items, be sure to bring one of your own bags to store them in after purchase.

I stopped in on Saturday 4/25/26 for an exchange. We had to search for an associate, to start off. Some were behind the counter on their phones, chit chatting with each other, or hiding behind racks. I felt like I was in a sea of employees with none to be found- strangest experience. I unfortunately found a counter with a lady named Cathy behind it. Cathy falls in top five worst shopping experiences I've ever had. She immediately profiled me, it was actually disturbing. Without letting me say a word about my exchange, she went on and on about why is it her problem and she's a "rule follower". She wouldn't even take the time to pull up my personal book or my mother in laws, who gifted them to my husband. Also, keep in mind, there are no "rules" when it comes to Nordstroms return policy. She was strictly there to give me a hard time and make me feel like I was doing something wrong. Things only went downhill from there when she called her MIC. A male named Eric I believe? African American with a beard. He came down with a quickness and never made eye contact with me once. The two of them together couldn't make one good manager. I found him to be cowardly and an example of the company's poor onboarding & training. It's not too late to invest in a leadership program, let me know if you're interested. My three items were like-new and only tried on. My husband has a bad habit of washing all his clothes before he wears them. He did exactly that in September 2025 to realize the pants fit him poorly on the legs. Since when is that a crime or not allowed? I've posted the return policy directly from their website with my review. It's clear that Cathy and her MIC were only trying to give me, and likely many other customers, a hard time and not service. So much for playing by the rules.

She even suggests some recommendations and tells me what the price of the clothes that I pick. She even helped me carry my purchase to the counter because it was too heavy and too many.I bought three dresses, four pants and ten t-shirts. And all of them are very comfortable when I wear them in the dressing room. I will definitely be back to this store.

Specifically, pants long enough to cover all of my legs, while navigating around my ever growing, muscular booty and thighs. Express has long been my haven for such a query.... But they're no longer stocking long lengths at all their stores. They offer to order them. From the internets. And even offer free shipping. Those fragmented sentences above were separated, out loud, in my mind, by such explicatives as "shit" and "FMLL" (f my long legs) seeing as my flight is in two days. I parked somewhere in west Schaumburg, and trudged up the sloped parking lot, barely escaping a plethora of women drivers, who, without my catlike reflexes, would have run me over flat. I navigated around rowdy, unkempt children, only to be halted by cell phone chatting mall patrons as they shouted into their iPhones. I must have sprinted into the store, and centered myself in front of the giant wall of stacked slacks. My eyes scanned the numbers and letters... Long for the elusive "L". Up and down, twice, thrice.... I was getting worried. My hands, starting to sweat, I might have been twitching. A sales rep was on me, she reached into the bookcase of bloomers and snapped open a pair like it was nothing. LONG! They were exactly what I had traveled here for! I held them in my hands like a treasure, my eyes grew large, and a weight had been lifted. Then she mentioned, "everything is up to 50% off, and you can use coupons too" All of me wanted to leave. Too many people, lots of signs, so much clothing... I don't belong here. But the girl inside of me reminded me that, if I got it all now, I could avoid coming back till summer. This plus 'sale' sent me rushing through the store, grabbing my size in three different colors of one, five of another and heading to the line. The line was really well managed- moved quickly, but allowed me time to pull up my last email blast from Express. It landed me an additional $25 off every $75 I was spending. I had brought $500 worth of clothes up, and Joshua, who rang me up, graciously applied my email coupon, found my next account, had me laughing and smiling throughout. I complimented him on the store and staff, recalling how intense and insane keeping up with weekend retail could be. It was a great overall experience, and I ended up getting a ridiculous deal on clothing that I will wear! Especially those pants! Top notch Express experience, even if I had to go to two, and to a mall, on a weekend!

The sales people were really friendly and upon seeing our purchase also showed us some hard to find options they kept behind the counter, because it sells out so quickly.
