I'm the first to be a bit queasy and unenthused as soon as I see the word(s) Company Store, outlet, and/or no returns. Especially when national stores such as Neiman Marcus, Tory Burch, Anthropologie, Kate Spade, J Crew, Nordstrom, etc., etc., have actual year round, fantastic sales and/or gifts with purchase, it doesn't seem necessary to buy what all too often wears like a "seconds" quality from a second tier outlet. Not so at Eileen Fisher. I'm not certain where the "Company" comes in to the fold, since quality and style at the outlet, so to speak, appears the exact same as EF on sale at NM, etc. Either I'm a complete fool, or they're the real thing on a clearance sale. Most items are in no ways cheap or fast fashion prices. EF sells the classics in natural fibers and recycled fabrics. It's not unusual to see a cozy soft Fall coat made of Alpaca and sewn in Italy to a Tencel jersey dress cut & sewn in NYC, knit & dyed in Montreal. Each clothing label tells how the fabric was responsibly made and the final product manufacturing that went into completing each item sold. Be forewarned, the store is packed to the brim, and dressing rooms force a waiting line, albeit, an efficient waiting line. Especially during one of their fantastic (advertised) sales and sample sales. It's worth the wait, and worth one's time combing the racks for something sharp, fashion forward, well made and comfy. For shorter girls, they have a lot of petite items and for taller girls, there's a huge amount of regular sizes. Same for style. There's things for grandma's, 20-something's and everyone in between. A great store all-around, and what's best about the brand is their clothes last and last longer than you want to wear them. They also have an exchange policy of $5.00 towards new EF's, which I'm not certain how that works, other than I am familiar in the quality of their clothes which endure and can thus be recycled from one wearer to another. No fast fashion to sadly end up in a landfill, here. EF clothes can potentially last a lifetime! read more

As others have stated, staff here is THE WORST. No greeting when you enter. No offering help or info. No offering a fitting room when I have an armful of stuff. And the group behind the register literally couldn't be bothered to stop chatting to ring me up when I found something. They pretty much just refuse to acknowledge there is another human being in the store. Selection is decent, but it's a really frustrating shopping experience. I spent a lot of time shopping at the Eileen Fisher Company Store. It had always been a pleasant experience, so I was shocked at my recent visit. The sales associates used to put the clothes I collected to try on in a dressing room for me. I walked that store for at least half hour without a single sales associate approaching me even though there were 3 or 4 at the register talking and no other customers in the store. Once in the dressing room, not one sales associate approached to see if I needed a different size or if they could remove items from the dressing room, something that would have happened in the past. I checked out, spending about $400, on 3 items. Normally, I would keep my items on the hanger but that's not an option anymore unless you want a drycleaner wire hanger. Unfortunately, my story doesn't end there. When I got home, I discovered I had been charged $59 for a tee shirt that was clearly marked $49. I returned to the store the next day with the tee shirt and receipt and explained what happened. Instead of 'I am very sorry that happened, let me take care of that for you', the women made me feel like I had come to rob the store. After double and triple checking, I received my credit. I never received an apology, just a look of why I would bother for $11. Will I shop at the Eileen Fisher Company Store again? Yes. Will I expect customer service? No. Will I check my receipt? Just got home from shopping at Eileen Fischer in Schaumburg. Fantastic shopping adventure! Camille was great at helping me select the right look and style for my new job. She couldn't have been any friendlier or helpful. Camille was very professional and knew how to achieve the right look that I wanted to have for my job. The store and the selections were perfect. The store was clean, neat and organized. It was fun looking for pieces to put together. When all was said and done, I left feeling I had the best new outfits for my job, in addition to getting some fun pieces too. Camille made It a great shopping experience. Wow! I walked into the store and was blown away at the amount of merchandise. They have final clearance which is 75% of retail store. Last season items selected for 60% off retail. Then they have last collection at 50% off retail and finally the basics and some new items at full price. I spent about an hour in the store and saved about 1K off items that are from previous collections I couldn't find my size, so I missed out on classic pieces. I will be back k and the staff is very helpful! read more

On October 1, I wrote my first yelp review. Today I checked back and was gratified to learn that I am certainly not the only person who found a negatively changed environment. Despite having really enjoyed this store, I will never return. Camille is rude and the staff if very distant and unhelpful. Therefore, I wrote to the corporate headquarters with my complaint. While I was assured that I would hear back, I am still waiting. I honestly hope that action is taken against the treatment of shoppers in this once very positive and enjoyable environment. I walked the whole store twice, looking around on my own then left, not finding a few of the pieces I'd been hoping they had. When I walked in I wasn't greeted, which is not the best but I can deal with that. Can I just state clearly that the staff here absolutely sucks?!?! I love EIleen Fisher and I'm willing to pay the high prices for items that last forever. The clothing itself is not an issue. However - when I am walking around with a STACK of items and not ONE person (of the 4-5 working here) acknowledges my presence or offers a fitting room I get mighty angry. I get even angrier when there is pretty much no one else in the store. And I'm positively wrathful when I get to the checkout counter and have to wait for "Personal Story Time" to end so the staffers here can deign to take my credit card to settle my substantial bill. My advice to the employees here: DO YOUR DAMN JOB! Because - FYI ladies, I can pretty much order the same shit at Nordstroms Anniversary Sale, ok? I won't be back any time soon. This particular Eileen Fisher store is pretty popular, as they have great sales pretty often. Tanks, camis, tops, sweaters, cardigans, jackets, pants, skirts, and even bags and accessories are available. I am a fan of their long cardigans and sweaters, as the material is very light and of great quality - some pieces are made out of organic fibers and uses natural dyes. One service that I am absolutely in love with is their repair program - any Eileen Fisher pieces you buy, and the piece happens to have a missing button, a broken zipper, a moth hole, or just basic wear and tear, you bring it to one of their retail stores and they will fix it for you for FREE. Yes! You just bring your piece, fill out a form, and wait between 8-10 weeks, as the piece is sent to one of their garment experts. If time is of the essence and you feel like using your own trusted seamstress or tailor, the store will reimburse you for the cost (just bring the receipt) - I just find this so amazing, as this shows how the company is dedicated in their product as well as to their customers! :D While the SAs at his particular location are not the best in offering any assistance, this at least allows you to mosey around the store at your leisure. She also tries to use organic fibers or fibers that have not been chemically treated. So I feel comfortable wearing my soft cotton scarf close to my skin this fall. This store has the same look-and-feel as a normal Eileen Fisher store. Yes, it sucks that many things are still $79 for a scarf and $59 for belts.... but it's still much less than MSP. The back of the store as "last call" for $19 - $99, organized by price level. They also have 2 "damaged" racks-- which clearly label what's wrong with the piece. Some of them don't seem salvageable, but most seem like they can be fixed. They are NOT super bargain-- for example some of those damaged items are still $99... They also have like 5 racks of full price stuff-- the black pant/white shirt basics. I found this helpful so I could use black pants to try on all the other stuff. They have shoes, belts and scarves, jackets-- all of what's in style (i.e. winter stuff is out in winter). I heard a sales lady describe that holiday items will be from last year, since they don't put out holiday stuff in January. They also have "woman's" and "petite" sizes. Store is clean, nicely organized; I thought the sales ladies were nice and kind (and fun). Yes, the curtains don't fully close on the dressing rooms... There are 2 nice sitting areas with a lot of magazine's, for the husbands : ) Yes, all overstock--- not made for outlet or defect. I was surprised that they don't have "home" items. My mom likes this store so she'd rate it higher. The style is clean, simple, and relaxed. Prices are still pretty high for an outlet store, but sometimes you can find a barely damaged item for cheap. My mom is a huge huge huge fan of Eileen Fisher and I've passed by the store various times on the way to the highway, but have never really paid a visit. This past week, my mom was curious and actually stopped by the store and LO and BEHOLD tons tons tons of fantastic deals for a brand name that is typically a bit on the pricier side. The store is large and very serene...almost in this spa type of vibe. Large fitting rooms and helpful staff. On the weekend, it gets pretty busy and during a big sale time, it gets so packed that you have to take a number to wait for the fitting room. It's more catered to my mom's age group where she can find some nice classic cut pieces of great quality....simple with some unique artistic details. Although it is more for my mom's age, I scored some really cute cashmere sweaters with some sequined detailing for about 30 bucks! woohoo! and being a petite lady, I was happy to find tons of petite sizing that are actually TRUE to size....size 0P generally fit like a charm :) Love it! This was my first visit to new location by Woodfield. Somewhat hard to get into the lot, coming from the east you have to U-turn on Golf and come around approaching the pull in from the west. Huge, beautifully laid out store. Great dressing room area with several mirrors. Really feels like a luxury department store experience now - the selection also seems larger than the old Arlington Heights store. Prices are expensive - this is high end stuff - but for me its entirely reasonable for the quality. I got 2 sweaters, 2 tops and 3 pants all for about half off the retail price, plus they had additional 20% off everything. Great experience, will definitely be back! read more

First, Eileen Fisher clothes are wonderful. I have some pieces that must be older than 15 yrs and are still great .And, pricing is good and once in a while an absolute steal. BUT the staff is absolutely the worst I've experienced at any price point. If you get them on a good day they are totally indifferent and every other day downright rude...I have shopped the current location as well as the previous one and the story is the same. I have left more times than not absolutely frustrated..Tthere are only so many times you can get dressed in your own clothes in the fitting room and go search for another size or color. They should just hire a cashier and leave it at that. They are so bad that my very adult daughter refuses to go with me anymore. ill read more

I don't go to the store for their prices - I go for the variety and the fact that there are many sizes available. The merchandise is lovely, and so are a few of the staff. But the rest of the staff is awful. Seriously someone needs to tell them .., if you don't want to work, DON'T. Please do not treat me like I am beneath you, and bothering you. If I have spent thousands of dollars at this store, and I am DONE. Finally just walked out yesterday, completely disgusted. Listen, I'm not a prima donna. I'm happy to help myself. If you're an EF fan this is a great place to browse for bargains, especially during one of their "extra discount" sales (be sure to get on the email list for notices). Two downsides as some others have noted: The dressing room curtains are skimpy, leaving you exposed to the sales floor (and the occasional man sitting in one of the guest chairs!) EF's regular retail stores have the same problem. The sales staff can be helpful if you ask, but in the many times I've been there I've never once had anyone proactively acknowledge my presence. I love the quality of Eileen Fisher clothes. Although this is an outlet, the vast majority of clothes are in perfect condition. The store is arranged like any high clothing store, so there are many sizes of each item. That's different from some discount stores where there is one of each item. No "hunting" through squeezed racks of clothing here. Another advantage is that clothing is grouped by color range. That way it is easy to coordinate pieces. The BIG downside is the staff. As others have mentioned, they are pretty useless. They tend to congregate behind the checkout desk and chatter about their personal lives. You almost always have to ask for help. Let's face it, even at their discounted prices, you're likely to drop some decent cash. I think that deserves better customer service. Bottom line: I've gotten some nice deals at Eileen Fisher Company Store. I'm certainly going back, but I know I'll be flying solo. Ever since Eileen Fisher started redesigning their line to suit a younger audience, I've been a pretty big fan - big enough to spend mucho bucks at their Water Tower Place location and a few more via their online shopping website. Comfortable, easy to maintain and plain, fairly unstructured clothes make this an affordable option for those who can't afford Jil Sander but need a step up from the quality and oft-time fussiness of DKNY or the youthful trendiness of Theory. The clothing isn't cheap (very little is under $100, even scarves), and it rarely seems to go on sale. So when I heard that Eileen Fisher had an outlet store in Arlington Heights, I braved weekend traffic to head into the dreaded burbs. Mostly, I'm impressed. The place carries a good number of clothes, and has petite sizes to boot. There are also accessories like belts and scarves and bags, and the clothing appears to be overstock from the retail stores (not defective or "made especially for the outlet" merchandise). Prices CAN be pretty good if you are thorough in your search and know your product. I found some stuff that was at least 60-70% off (great), but other things that were maybe 20% off of the retail price (not so great for an outlet, in my opinion). Make sure to check the Eileen Fisher website or non-outlet retail store for sales beforehand, because in a couple of cases, the clothes were actually more expensive at the outlet than in the retail store or on the website. Some of the basic black separates (like the crepe pants and silk tanks that come back every season) are full price. The return policy is limited, just like in the retail stores: 14 days only. Plus, you can only return at the outlet - you can't return to any other store. I was a bit bummed because I had a sweater that I ordered from the website that I wanted to return (the website says that you can return to any store), but the outlet won't take any web order returns. Good to know, but Eileen Fisher should note such information on its website. read more

A friend of mine has been suggesting that I visit this store for "incredible" deals. I finally had time to swing out to the burbs and see for myself. Unlike other shoppers, I had a really pleasant experience with the staff and the rooms. As a plus sized woman, I was able to find several items in my size at good prices. I even found a basic black skirt for about 50 smackeroos. The store is spacious and clothes aren't jammed into every inch. I am a recent convert to Eileen Fisher because of her use of 100% linen in her clothing. So my husband and i took the 2 hour drive up to Schaumburg to see what the store was all about. Firstly, the store is very clean and well lit. It was also well-staffed that day. I was there for about 1/2 hour before anyone asked if i needed a dressing room. However, i got on and they put my name on the wall for me. The SA also helped me with a dress i had questions about. THe dressing area has toys for little kids to play with so that was nice. In the middle of the store is a nice sitting area which is where ny husband sat for 1.5 hours while i shopped :) They had a large selection of items, many of it cheaper than what you would get at Nearby Nordstroms. But since this is a company store, most of the items are not in the retail stores and vice versa. There is also a "Green Eileen" rack, and a clearance rack, and discounted rack of samples and damaged items. And since my birthday was a few days away,, i got an extra $25 off of my purchase. My biggest complaint is that the racks are crowded (although the staff does a tremendous job keeping then neat). Petites are grouped with regular size clothing which accounts for the crowding i think. Overall, i will definately go there again. read more

On a normal basis this store is a 4 star easy. But. When it approaches closing time they all over you to get out of their store - almost to the point of rudeness. And honestly, it's bad enough that they close at 7 as it is. It's like they are catering to rich stay at home moms and retirees not office professionals which....seriously? They must know this, but they aren't even slightly apologetic about it. I just spent $120 on a skirt at final sale price. (I usually spend several hundred there.) I worked a long day to be able to afford to do that, so it's a stretch to get there and shopping done by 7pm with them nipping at your heels. Not classy. read more

Timing is Everything Here I shop here 3 or 4 times a year. Sometimes the store is well-stocked and other times things feel very picked over with only very small and very large sizes on sale. When I do find my sizes, the prices are very good and worth the trip. The staff here are not helpful. I usually stop in mid-morning and find them clustered around the cash register chatting. Aside from giving me a dressing room, they don't really seem to care if I find what I am looking for or not. Someone else mentioned the dressing rooms as being problematic and I agree. The curtains really don't offer much privacy if you happen to be in the first several rooms that face the main shopping area. read more

I know that several reviewers said that they had problems with the staff, but I had a wonderful experience today at the store.I bought an amazing little jacket that was marked down from $500 to $60 and the women who worked there were all very attentive and very very nice! I was becoming a little suspicious after reading all these negative reviews and spent at least half an hour in that store to look around and take in the atmosphere. Hit or miss. Yes, you can score some great buys, if they happen to have your size. If you look at the place as an outlet store you will be happy, an everyday retail store it is not, but then again, Most things are at least a little less expensive than pure retail (some are full price, some as little as 20% off, then some 40% or more). The store is really hit or miss. Sometimes they have great deals and other times not. I guess you have to go often enough to see. Good selection for "off sizes". I wear a 16 so that selection is smaller but often times I could find something if I really wanted to. The prices too vary from great deal to not so much. I have to say however that the staff is less than pleasant. I go into this store fairly frequently as I work in the area. It is rare that I am acknowledged when I walk in. Often times the staff is standing around talking and do not notice a customer walking in. In a recent trip I was barely thanked when I did make a purchase. The staff needs to realize that while this may be an "outlet" store by name, it is not a conventional "outlet" store and people who buy Eileen Fischer products are used to spending some cash. BUT I must agree with other posters...I shop here often, making the trip from out of state just to take advantage of good pricing on quality pieces that fit my active work and lifestyle....but the staff members, always the same, never welcome me back or act even remotely interested in my shopping needs that day. I am not high maintenance, just would like to feel welcome and appreciated as a faithful customer. Even a smile and thank you at checkout would suffice. I have called the store to ask a question or have something sent out that I waivered about when shopping, the service has been much better than in person. The prices will keep me coming back, sometimes I find the perfect piece that works with my current wardrobe, sometimes inventory is very slim.
