I had the worst experience with my "tax specialist " He made fun of my name countless times. When he saw my W2's he laughed and said that I had no hope and he kept making fun of me because of all the money I was going to owe. He made racist comments towards me, like: "Are you ready to go back to Mexico now?". He decided to scare me by saying that I was going to have to pay several thousands more than what I actually ended up owing. That froze my mind and I couldn't react to all these things he was saying and doing. He ordered me to stand up and go get the documents he was printing several times, did not ask, just gave me orders as if I was working for him. He ended up charging me double the amount of what I was expecting to pay according to their price list, and when I asked "why?" He ignored my question and just walked me to the cashier. I hope I never have to see this person again in my life, this has really been a traumatic experience because I felt discriminated against and degraded . H&R Block: You need to do a better job at training your staff members, this person had a badge that said "19 years of experience". I can't imagine how many people he has made feel the way I did that day. With his offensive jokes, lack of empathy for people in distress, and superiority complex, he literally made me feel hopeless (like he said) and crushed. Also no concerns toward Covid19 were taken at all on his part. read more

I stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon because I saw an ad that said you could get your W10EZ filed for free! They took me as a walk in and I was paired with this fantastic lady named KHRISTIAN. I would definitely recommend going to her (and H&R block for the following reasons. - She is very nice and makes good conversation. - She is good at listening and she laughs appropriately and sincerely. - She is good at multi-tasking so she can listen to you and do her job well. - She tries all the different possible combinations of tax stuff to ensure you get the best deal possible (though she modestly told me all H&Rblock people do that). - She called me back and told me she found a way to file my education costs as a gift or something and she'd take care of that on Monday. All in all, my experience was very good. The space is nice. It's standard cubicles but it's all good. I saw in the waiting area space they have coffee but I did not get a chance to try it. If you can, get your taxes done here. They file the federal part for you for free but you have to pay the state tax part. It's awesome though. Three thumbs up! read more

I stopped by this H&R Block the day of Tax day, because I had some trouble with their online filing. I've used their service for five years, and I've never had a problem until this year. So I went to H&R's website, called their online number (basically useless), and then decided to make a one hour appointment at one of their branches. Things to know about this H&R Block location: PARKING: The lot, which is shared with other businesses in the strip mall, is absolutely tiny. So finding a spot during peak hours might be difficult. The traffic in this part of Buckhead is terrible, too. SCHEDULING: Even though you might be able to grab a walk-in spot, it's better to make an appointment on the H&R Block website. Super easy. WAITING: You'll likely wait five-ten plus minutes. There are a few chairs in the waiting room and complimentary coffee. You might also listen to the receptionist and other staff members unprofessionally gossip. SERVICE: After waiting fifteen minutes or so past my appointment time, I met with a very nice gentleman in his cubicle. I really didn't like the fact that they don't have rooms and only cubicles, because it feels uncomfortable discussing personal financial information out loud when people in the lobby can easily hear. (There's no music playing or anything, too.) The man that worked with me basically said that he couldn't help me because he didn't understand my W-2s. He also couldn't even offer a solution, for me. Instead, I had to pitch them to him, and he just agreed with whatever I said (and seemed to just want me gone). So, basically, I wasted about an hour of and a half of my time visiting this place. For next year, I plan to hire an accountant. Could the people here help you with your taxes? Sure. But, I would bet other H&R Block locations or similar businesses may provide better services.. read more

We just got back from H&R Block and I have to say I was very happy with the advice we received. Unfortunately, for us - we had done our taxes correctly with TurboTax and owed more than we thought we would. Philip Autrey took the time to thoughtfully review our TurboTax print out and W2s, stock options, etc. and advised us that we'd done our taxes correctly. When we asked if we should file individually, instead of married he took the time to do some calculations to determine if it would make sense to go that route. It didn't. So, we walked away with not having to pay anything, but received peace of mind. Obviously, he was not a gouger - he could have said he wouldn't know unless he did more digging ... If I had questions or more complexity in future taxes, I would return. read more

This was my first time filing my taxes at HR Block and I only did it because of additional forms I had to file and I will never go back to HR Block, ever again. The specialist, Tamara Johnson, was nice and all, hence I gave one star, but she was not accurate and careful in preparing the tax return. We filed the documents and never heard from IRS for 3 months. Of course I called IRS multiple times during that time, regardless, she made many mistakes in filing my return including incorrect address (The IRS tried to contact me, but of course their letter to the wrong address), incorrect residency. But she is also impossible to reach, even by the HR Block staff. I went to the HR office again and they tried to help me file the return again, but they needed her to sign my return because she is a CCA, but nobody was to able to reach her. Finally, I managed to setup a 3rd appointment with another HR Block specialist, who found all those problems in the return and got it filed. Of course I was late for filing, way past April 15 deadline. read more
