I did my taxes with Pamela 2 years ago and was great. Decided to do them again with her this year...big mistake. I scheduled an video appointment with her and 15 min into the appointment she has still to show up. I messaged her on the platform TWICE. The meetings ends and she never showed up. I called the office and no one called me back after I left a message specifically for her to explain why she didn't bother to show up to do her job. I now have to go in person because Pamela can't bother to get back to me, nor do I trust her to do another video appointment with her. read more

Donald Jordan never showed or called to say he had decided NOT to come to work and simply no showed for our tax appt! When the receptionist called him several times he finally called back and said he had decided to not come in. Thankfully a very nice woman who sits behind the receptionist said she had time and she was awesome!!! Jordan can just stay home permanently!!! read more

After about 20 some odd days, I finally received my check. It was less than promised but I got enough to satisfy me. Thank you very much to the Regional Manager. The rest of H and R block can take a hike. The only person that ever called me back throughout this whole ordeal was the Regional Manager and he handled things wonderfully. H and R if your listening, your D.M. for my section of Northern California is liar and a punk. Not the type of person I would like representing my established business. I guarantee I have, through my reviews, cost you much more than you cut my check for. Perhaps taking it out of his paycheck might make him preform differently. read more

Why did I not see the previous reviews? Never thought to check, had taxes done with H&R (SF and Napa) for over a decade. Today's visit completely made me change my mind to go where they realize customer service is necessary when someone pays for your service! This office has a front desk person who is completely void of customer service and does her coworkers a disservice as well. No apology for an appointment where the wait was 40 minutes, a check for payment that was declined (her computer froze) and comment made "check your bank for funds". Returned after checking with bank where I was told "there should have been no reason for decline, funds are in the account". Paid cash and front desk computer froze again (front desk person exclaimed to a coworker "my computer froze again"). H & R Block please train your front desk person at this location about "Customer Service"! No doubt your entire staff could benefit! read more

One of the worst experiences of my life. Start off 45 min late. Next, scattered my personal documents across the waiting room table, I told her I was uncomfortable with this, she scuffed me off. Then proceeded to spell everything wrong on my documents, mark wrong options, did not listen to me correct her. She then told me I did not have a document, belittled me for not having it, when called my partner he told her exactly where it was on the one page mortgage document, she said oh. The final straw was when she asked a question I told her the answer and she told me I was wrong, and asked why again. I told her because it was a court order (having to do with dependents) she looked at me like I was stupid. When I finally couldn't take it anymore and i got up to leave she told a coworker "I was asking simple questions, she refused to answer". I literally cried. I was mortified. I was shaking and tears were running down my face. I think it was the manager that got involved now and a co worker named Lavonne took over, she was very pleasant and if you HAVE to go to this place please request her she was wonderful and actually knew her job. First time we came this year we had May do our taxes and she did not seem to know what she was doing as I kept having to correct wrong entries. She kept typing the wrong info into the wrong boxes, and kept blaming the computer. Long story short she said we owed a large amount this year so I asked if she could double check it and she said she would try filing my husband and I separately to see if it would help. She said she would call when she was done. I called since I never heard from her. When the person who answered told me that filing single definitely wouldn't help I told her I'd prefer someone else. She recommended Konnie since we had an ITIN involved and Konnie was excellent! She took care of everything and fixed all our issues. Then we received a correction from my husbands work that we needed to take back. He also got. Notification text that he had an appt there for a date we didn't book. I called to ask about these 2 issues and Elizabeth answered the phone. When I started to tell her about his text appt that he didn't book she interrupted me and said- Yeah, just ignore it. It's probably from last year. I told her I was concerned as we did need to come back in anyway and I asked her to try and search for this appt. She said- just call back when you know the date I can't it's too hard for me to search. At this point I was pretty shocked by how she was speaking to me so I asked her name. She said- Oh uh, Alyssa. I said, I thought it was Elizabeth (I remembered since it's my own name) and she said- no that's someone else. I told her I knew I only talked to her and she realized I was catching her in a lie so she said can you hold, I'll put on Elizabeth. Then she answered saying it was Elizabeth now! (Same voice) I was so shocked by how crazy she was acting. Then I went in for the appt I finally booked w Konnie and I was there at the front talking w Konnie when Elizabeth came up yelling- why is no one answering the dang phone?! She is the worst possible person to have deal with customers, or anyone for that matter. Next year I hope she's not there. I like Konnie but I may have to go to another location just to avoid that extremely unpleasant and unprofessional woman, Elizabeth. read more

RUDE, COMBATIVE RECEPTIONIST! I realize HRB has so much business during tax season that receptionist feels she can treat people this way and turn away business. Does your corporate office or franchise owner that your receptionist feels she has the power to turn away business? I called and tried to schedule an appointment for a consultation so I can understand their charges. The receptionist asked what forms I had other than a W-2, I told her I did not have that information in front of me and cannot answer at this time, that I just wanted to schedule an appointment in order to get a quote. She was condescending and repeated S L O W L Y her initial request for any forms other than a W-2. I told her I understand her request but am still unable to comply at this exact moment and just wanted an appointment to get an estimate, She became rude and threw some numbers at me. I replied that I didn't care for the tone this had taken and was not interested in an appointment, instead of apologizing and taking a different approach, she said EXACTLY and hung up on me! Is it too close to tax season for a consultation/quote so I can understand what their charges are? If so, just politely tell me, I understand. Am I asking for the wrong thing the wrong way - I'm not in the tax business so go easy on me...walk me through the process POLITELY. Tell me that at this late date you are only able to schedule time with people that are prepared to accept their services or ask more about my needs so you can inform me about the charges. I called a local tax company, Dan Moore, and I was treated with professionalism and friendliness and I'm looking forward to going to my appointment. I would have been apprehensive about going to my appointment at HR Block because I would fear being face to face with such a combative receptionist and worry about the competence of HR Block being they hire such unprofessional staff. read more

Made an appointment to get my taxes redone as I had not received my return from doing my taxes via turbo tax. The day before my appointment, I received a letter from the IRS in the mail stating they need another signed copy of my return. So I went anyway just to make sure that was really what the IRS was asking for. The tax preparer, Patricia seemed nice and told me that yes that's what the letter stated and then she went to go make copies of my paperwork. When she came back in with the copies she said that she forgot to mention that this particular service was $75. I told her that I didn't have that kind of money, even if she had to prepare my taxes from scratch, I was going to choose the option to have the preparation fee deducted from my return. She then tried to haggle the fee down to $35. I again refused and reminded her that it was her fault that she didn't inform me of the fee for services before providing. She sighed and told me she would get a slap on the hand for giving it to me for free. That's when I got up, and walked out. I will never return to this place again. read more
