Let me tell you the Tale of the Enchilada Reckoning. In our home, there is a sacred and well-established ecosystem: The Hubs = Top Chef Me = Occasional Culinary Special Chef Now, to be fair, I can cook. I just treat it like a rare hobby... like pottery or running a marathon or sky diving. I prefer specialty appearances rather than nightly performances. And we have a system...whoever cooks gets to bask in their cooking glory while the other person scrubs grime off every known kitchen surface afterward. It's love. It's balance. It's low-key resentment with a sponge. Enter my Brother-in-Law (visiting for a few weeks). A witness. A potential judge. A man who, I fear, might report back to the extended family that I survive solely on takeout and my hubby's cooking. Family snitches get stiches (not literally!), so the saying goes. So off I go to H-E-B, fueled by determination and a quiet need to prove I am, in fact, a functioning wife. I gather my ingredients like a woman preparing for battle: ground turkey, mild cheddar, yellow onion, Roma tomatoes (the superior tomato), tomato paste, sauce... the works. The cashier didn't know it, but she was checking out the Next Top Chef...in our household. Now, enchiladas are not for the faint of heart. Oh no! First, there is The Tortilla Machine. Each tortilla must be lightly toasted...individually. Twenty-four tortillas. Twenty-four tiny, corn-based opportunities to question every life choice that led me here. At some point, I lost track of time. The smoke alarm initially considered getting involved but decided I had suffered enough. Then came the tomatoes. You cannot just toss those in willy-nilly. We are not making soupy enchilada casserole. The seeds must be removed with surgical precision. I stood at the counter, delicately de-seeding Roma tomatoes like I was performing an intricate medical procedure: "Scalpel (knife). Remove the tomato seed carnage. Protect the integrity of the dish." Onions were diced. Tears were shed. But somehow...SOMEHOW...it all came together. The enchiladas entered the oven as a collection of hopes and fragile tortillas and emerged as a golden, bubbling monument to perseverance. Dinner was served. The hubs took a bite. My BIL took a bite. There was a moment... a pause... the kind that could make or break reputations. And then...Seconds. Then thirds. No words needed. I knew. I had done it. Good vibes only. I leaned back casually, like this level of effort was just my daily standard. Like I hadn't just spent an hour whispering threats to tortillas. And let's not forget my homemade carrot cake (cake + frosting) is still the picture everyone sees on the H-E-B (Braker Lane) website splash page. Naturally, I assume the enchiladas are next. Whenever we're in the area and know we need a few things for home, we'll stop by. Wonderful selection in every department. Items are fresh whether produce or bakery items (and everything in between). There will never be a grocery store I like more than HEB. Now granted, I feel each location is different. But in a very good kind of way. You will see your go-tos, but you will see a little switch-up here and there on certain food items. That's probably my favorite thing about HEB! Now today, I was searching for my Christmas holiday cheer! HEB is the best when it comes to the holidays, any holidays, I might add. So today I was searching for the chicutarite boards, fruit plates, and slices of meat trays. I also checked out their wines. It's honestly the best grocery store, and if I get a little confused, there's always someone to help. I saw the poinsettias on my way out and quickly added them to my list of things to pick up a couple of days before Christmas. My mom always put hers by the fireplaces. I will do that too. Well, anyway, you're more than welcome to do like I did today and so many other times. Go by HEB, scan the aisles, and make a list. I get a lot of inspiration from this on what I want my holiday meal to look like weeks before, and then I return and purchase my holiday cheer. read more

Also I was looking at their Texas decor items too. They seem to have less than the HEB near me. Texas mugs, Texas glasses, Texas door mats. Our north Texas HEB stores have spoiled me when I stop in a store that's in a more established service area. Smaller, less bling but fortunately ALL the good HEB products that you could want. The one weird thing about this store was no bags for purchased items! I didn't want to buy a reusable because I have a million at home. read more

Large, recently renovated HEB with the friendly service and wide selection you know and love from HEB!

Seeing reviews about this HEB location from ten years ago, tells me they have most likely gone through some major renovations to become the size of the shopping center it is now. This location features a butcher section, a deli shop, fresh bakery, florist, pharmacy, home goods, and just about anything you need under your roof. I've found myself grocery shopping here around lunchtime, after work, or as late as 10pm to take care of my shopping list. Prices and options here are very competitive and the HEB brand helps you get your daily essentials at prices worth driving for. Produce and meats are always fresh, and they feature a lot of organic and gourmet ingredients. It's very rare I can't find an item I need here. All in all, this will always be my go-to HEB! read more

I'm gonna miss this location when I move out of the area. The customer service is beyond measure. Recently I had an issue that was resolved swiftly and professionally by Manager Charona. I avoid shopping at this location on Sundays because it is an absolute madhouse. The store is very large but with the HEB app, I am able to easily locate items that I am looking for. Luke Sanchez is the BEST cashier I have ever had at a grocery store. He was so fun to chat with as me, my fiancé and my brother in law waited for our groceries. The line was long but Luke was so quick, efficient and kind. I will be shopping at this HEB again. read more

The closing store manager comes to tell me as i am grabbing a sandwich that the store is closing. It was close to 11 as i entered - and though it would have been disappointing to not buy the sandwich, i would have understood. But she didn't say it - she was about 20 feet away. She yelled it. And she says it wasn't impolite but it wasn't a smile cause she definitely looked bothered. I work customer service and know the line between respectful and disrespectful. I said there was no need for an attitude and she was bothered further. she was bothered as the cop/security guard right next to her gets to have his big moment to tell a loyal customer of the store what is appropriate -- all the while holding on to his safety vest and big belt with things that would hurt. Tomorrow morning i will go to the manager to explain at the very least that the use of the security / cop was inappropriate and the fact he can escalate matters to make me uncomfortable for a disagreement on civility is bizarre. Can i truly never return as the message he told me. I think I go there every day - I think I spend at least 40-50 dollars a day there. I made my home out of that HEB. HEB is a partner of this community. I was less than 30 feet on my way to the register - i walked that same amount of distance with the security cop right behind me telling me to never come back. Like I mentioned to the first manager yelling at me...I respectfully disagree. Please stop the practice of using the security cop to bully. Please be aware that if he attempts to kick me out of the store i will immediately file a discrimination report as that same security officer found issue with me prior but was unaware that my concerning way of having to come close to the label and review items relates from a special need not a criminal intent. We have shopped this HEB for as long as it's been there; however, we have noticed a marked decline in the quality of service, products and cleanliness. Recently, we bought some Liverwurst at the deli counter and had to stop the employee and ask her to please clean the machine. She gave it a quick wipe with a rag that was on the counter and proceeded to slice our order. Admittedly, we should have refused the meat and confirmed that when we arrived at home and found our order was contaminated. We returned it and told our story which was met with a response about "new trainees being allowed to serve customers without supervision". read more

The organization of this store is ridiculous. They regularly change the location of items which causes you to have to try and go up and down each aisle, and when you ask an employee where an item is located at least 90% of the time the location they tell you is wrong. Then there is the fiasco of the checkout process. They won't let you self checkout with more than ten items, but they also won't let you bag your own groceries at the regular checkout and in lazy or incompetent bag boys seem put out when you have your own bags (I'm sure it's so they can SELL you one of their own bags, since they aren't free like they are at Randall's, Central Market, or Whole Foods...). The idiots bagging seem to think it's right to put your canned goods in your insulated bag, your frozen goods in one of your regular bags, and things like bread and chips on the bottom of a bag with heavy products on top of them. They seem to have no common sense at all, and are only concerned with getting your payment and getting you out of their store. I'll be looking towards my next closest Randall's from now on, where the staff says hello, remember me week to week, and allow me to self check and self bag no matter how much I'm buying, and then even tell me to have a nice day and come back soon, H‑E‑B could take a lesson from how Randall's operates. read more

I went to this H-E-B today to buy some gift cards and I decided to purchase them at the customer service desk, and the girl working. there was extremely rude! If you're going to be working in customer service, then you really should have good customer service, and be kind! I believe that this girl should work somewhere else and not with people, because she was not kind or helpful at all. She was extremely mean and had a really bad attitude! I have a love/hate relationship with this HEB location because I'm always stopping by HEB to grab something I either ran out of or forgot to buy on a previous trip and with this HEB location being very close to where I work it is so convenient to stop at HEB after work and then head home. So convenience is a LOVE for this HEB for sure but I HATE how freakin' small the parking spots are at this location! They are so small and narrow that if a car is parked next to you it is 100% guarantee that your car door will touch the car next to you when you open your car door or even worse you have to squeeze your way to get into your car. This is so frustrating because the chances of getting your car dinged is very high so to avoid this I either take up 2 sparking spots or park next to a return basket corral, if a parking spot is available and even then I'm parking as close as I can get to it. It really shouldn't be that hard to park my car & then get out so I can go grocery shopping. I wonder if whoever created those mini parking spots think all customers drive a clown car because those spots are ridiculous! Another "eh" about this HEB is that it is way smaller then my normal weekend HEB location. However, a "love" for this location is that there is always clearance items! I'm always getting awesome goodies for a super cheap price so I for sure am always checking out the end caps to see what clearance treasures may be waiting for me. :) To sum it up I'll for sure keep stopping by this HEB location for my mini shops after work but my plan it always to "stick and move" because I don't want to be parked in those funky/mini parking spots any longer than I have to be. -Rebecca out read more

These guys are wonderful for curbside. They won't always have everything, particularly wipes and such, but they'll do the best they can to substitute. Communication is great, friendly, efficient. Availability is really good for times, particularly if you go a day or two out, and they're still waiving the fee for now. I've been a Randall's shopper for years, but Randall's response to the pandemic has been pitiful. I'm all HEB now. Even most of their store brand items are strong options. read more

This is a typical HEB in terms of product availability; however, the store layout is terrible. Traffic is always jammed up in the center of the store due to the bakery location and pours out into the check out area. This also causes the store to be cut in half. Gold stars for creativity in layout, but giant thumbs down in execution. You cannot get in and out of this store quickly. read more

This HEB is my go to place for groceries! Always easy to find stuff and store is very organized! Love the bakery bagels, the jalepeno cheddar bagels are always so fresh and taste amazing. They do run out of their fresh tortillas so best to go by lunch time to grab those before they run out. They do charge for bags so hafd to get used to this, a little different than another HEB i use to go to. The curbside gets a lil busy especially if your time slot is right after 5 pm (peak after work hours) Overall my go to place for groceries. read more

I went to heb to get my son some huggies wipes because the off brands give him a bad rash. Of course there was a 30 minute line to get in so I ask one of the employees if she knew if there were any huggies wet wipes left and that my son really needed that specific brand, she said yes and then disappeared. When I finally got inside the store to the baby aisle...only off brand wipes left. So I went about and got the rest of my groceries and went to check out. The original employee (i think her name was crystal or something with a C and she was wearing a maroon shirt with long black hair) flagged me down at the check out line with a pack of huggies wipes in hand for me. She said she went and looked after I had asked and saw they only had one pack left so she grabbed it and held on to it for me until she saw I was ready to check out I could have hugged her and my kiddo's butt surely does thank her--I wish she knew how thankful this mama is during this crazy time! read more

This HEB is massive yet they are always out of items. Also, no matter when you visit they are blocking the aisles "stocking" goods. We went today at 1030(Sunday) and they only had four cashiers and 1 bagger. The lines were very long and slow. It's bad when Walmart has you beat in that department. We like shopping at this HEB and have gotten comfortable with the one also on McNeil/183. Looking forward to the renovations in the expansion of the store. There have been posts that the resurfacing of parking lot and restriping of spaces are very tiny. I'm hoping management sees this post and will rethink on making parking spaces wider. Holly cow... was there a national disaster announcement and we missed it?!? This place was PACKED!! There were lots of people in line at every register and loads of full carts! There were even completely empty shelves in the store it's self! Was a hurricane coming and we weren't aware?!? This place was busy! I mean super busy! We just wanted a bottle of wine... which they have a fantastic selection of! We got it while dodging around all the people buying massive amounts of stuff... what the heck was going on?!? Got up to the self check out and got out in minutes with all of our limbs intact... I live within walking distance of this HEB. While there are some other HEBs that are nicer, this one is the one I frequent the most. The selection is much smaller than other HEBs I used to frequent as well as the latest one I LOVE, the lakeline one. Produce aka fresh fruits and veggies can be a hit or miss. I bought strawberries from this HEB once, took them home and found MOLD on them on careful inspection at home. Took them back to the store since I was upset that it hadn't even been 24 hours, and they asked if I wanted to exchange them. I said I did until I looked at all the other strawberries and saw they all had mold as well and they ended up just giving my money back. The self check out is great and the frozen cabinets are renovated with motion sensors which I LOVE haha. I also love the HEB coupons as they give you great deals on stuff you may want to buy, which is great! Note: people park like douches in the spots by jamba juice and Bombay bistro area as those spots are smaller. You've been warned. read more

This HEB never fails to fail. They routinely run out of items very early, like 7pm. Milk, eggs, produce, beans, etc. If I shop at 9pm, I will leave the store missing at least two items for my recipes, and sometimes, it's not possible to make a substitution. They remove the fresh items like roasted chicken from the displays by 7pm, which seems a little unkind to those who were planning to eat said chicken for dinner. Last Sunday night at 6:30pm, stockers and their huge pallets of merchandise blocked the aisles. Is it me, or I thought that was supposed to happen after 9pm at the earliest? Are we at walmart? When I shop on Sunday or Monday night, there are never any checkout packers. My wife and I packed $120 worth of groceries ourselves with no help from anyone. On the next trip, I watched the older man in front of me pack all his groceries himself. And then, once again, I packed my groceries all by myself. Last week I was sold "shredded gruyere" which turned out not to be gruyere. It was SOFT (gruyere is a hard cheese) and it didn't taste like gruyere in my recipe... The kicker? I had asked the deli worker to help me find the gruyere cheese. They couldn't help me. Random alarms sound from the bakery area. All the shoppers turn to look, wondering if a nuclear detonation is imminent. The sad thing is that I really like the layout of this store, and the location is GREAT. But whoever is managing this store really needs to step it up...please step it up. read more

I put in an order for birthday cupcakes yesterday and was advised that I'd be able to pick them up at 1pm today. I arrived at 1:02pm... no cupcakes for Olivia. Not even a record of receipt. I returned a Beef stew kit to this HEB due to a recall they had on their beef. Read the article and saw the same code on my package, so returned it. It was $18 and we could not eat it due to recall of the beef. Lauren, at customer service was rude and practically called me a liar that there had been a recall. I even pulled up the article and showed her! How rude can someone be?! Seriously, how inept for this store to not even know of the recall? This scares me greatly that they kept selling the meat at this location. And then for this girl to be so rude and act like I was making it up.. what kind of customer service is this? Horrible. H-E-B's meat department has become one of the best selections in the central Texas and Austin area. From prime brisket steak burgers and other prime meats to less common meats like veal, lamb, bison and even recently added quail. If you're looking for something more free range check out their Grass Fed beef selections from brisket, steaks and ground beef. If you want a higher end every day meat they have you covered as well with their H-E-B Natural (no antibiotics ever) chicken breasts, ground turkey, steaks, ground beef and hot dogs. At the end of the day H-E-B is going to have you covered across the board with their premium meat selects and you can't go wrong picking one of these up to bake, pan roast or grill! read more

Does HEB even need reviewing? Aren't they 5 stars in all categories - selection, pricing, friendly staff, and parking.

They recently expanded the size of this location. The aisles are much less crowded than they used to, but the parking lot is much more crowded now. Forget about coming here on a Saturday, there will be nowhere to park! I always prefer coming to HEB than to Randalls across the street. There is a greater selection of food. The HEB brand is better than major commercial brands in pretty much everything. Other than the parking, you can't go wrong with coming to this place. read more

Moved to the area a few months ago and sadly I have never had a good experience coming to this H-E-B. Shelves are never stocked and the customer service is severely lacking. My boyfriend is a manager at a location outside of Houston and he says so himself that this is one of the worst locations he's ever been to. I can't believe I've never done a review of the HEB nearest to me. So, after tonight's quick grocery run in -- and right back out -- it's time. Like the other reviewers have noted, the parking lot here can be a challenge. And that's even more of a challenge now with the amount of spaces reserved for curbside pickup. Other reviewers have noted that the store is dirty and dingy. In general, the store needs both a deep cleaning and probably a remodel as well. And I cannot agree enough with the other criticisms about a stocking problem at this store. For some reason, shelf space seems more limited at this location than other locations. When you combine that with the lack of stocking at this location, it's a rare occasion to leave this location with a grocery list that doesn't require a trip to another location. This location has two positives. First, the pharmacy at this location is amazingly efficient and friendly. Second, they usually have an ample number of checkout lanes open. read more

This HEB has a weird layout. Normal supermarkets have produce in one side of the store, along the walls; this HEB has produce in the center of the store. It's actually more convenient and puts healthy stuff front and center so shoppers are encouraged to get fruits and vegetables instead of unhealthy processed junk food. This HEB is pretty big and packs a wide selection of goods. The worst thing about this HEB is the entrance/exit is only one set of sliding glass doors so shoppers entering are always colliding with shoppers exiting. This HEB's parking lot is always fairly full while the Randalls across Braker Lane has few cars. As typical of all Austin HEBs, the cashiers here are always really friendly. read more

I've recently started shopping here since it's close-ish to my work. An easy stop on the way home. It's ok, like most HEB's in a lot of ways. This location I've noticed doesn't have a lot of selections in the veggie department, pretty small aisles packed full of carts and people pretty much at all times of the day. They seem to be evenly staffed as far as the registers are concerned (I mean, they actually had someone there to bag my groceries, a not so common occurrence at other locations). I have to admit it was a little disappointing to me to walk down the bread aisle and see a cockroach chillin' on a loaf ready to pounce (yes, I realize cockroaches don't pounce, but I'm still afraid of them like they do). I'm sure HEB doesn't condone this - coupled with the hot weather, but I avoided that aisle like the plague and still have no bread in my fridge. Sigh. Overall, nothing spectacular or overly awful to point out. You need food? This HEB has it. read more
