My only gripe is availability and being overcrowded but I have to take into account that this store is currently shared by Manor and Elgin. The employees are overall pretty friendly and helpful. Typically you can get most of what you're looking for but in some instances that's not always the case but that's anywhere. I went in today particularly looking for the cakes that are being posted all over Facebook and to my surprise they had all 3 flavors and multiple of each. I highly recommend these they are all very good but the Love on Top is my personal favorite. read more

A worker in the deli that goes by Abby absolutely does not see the point in changing gloves and openly eats on the job then handles food for customers, cross contaminating everything she touches. She has to be actively scolded by her coworkers to do her job properly and she still has not gotten the memo yet that she is endangering customers. read more

First experience using this particular HEB's curbside service and it didn't go well. My order was 75.41. Of that 36.29 of my order was missing. My order contained 10.29 of items I didn't order and didn't want. That's a pretty good bait and switch they've got going on. Not impressed. This store is the 2nd closest to my house at 12 (24 round trip) miles, but I had to make two trips I order to get the food I ordered. I was barely offered an apology. I guess that's what I get for trying to save some time. read more

The curbside is horrible. This is the 3rd time stuff has been left behind, and the only solution is to get a refund or go back to the store. This does not help the customer when the point of doing Curbside is to not have to make a double trip to the store. I really need to just find another location since they don't value the customers. read more

I like H-E-B but this store is in need of an update. However, the curbside service does a great job of filling orders here and is always on-time and fast. One nitpick I do have though is the tortilleria frequently runs out of those addictive H-E-B Butter Tortillas--c'mon guys, you can make more. If I visit the store after 2 pm or so, they're out. This location is close to home though so I can pickup most of the things I need most of the time. It's just not as nice as most of the other locations I've visited. read more

I never really expect to much from the small town grocery stores... This time though I was blown away. Yes it isn't a HEB plus but man it blows away most small town grocery for sure! Full blown out product, complete bakery, floral department, big selection of wine and beer, meat counter, and all the basics you expect! Lots of people working stocking cases, shelves and cleaning up... it is obviously an older setup... but it is a well kept great store. Right off 290 easy to get in and out of... this HEB has got you covered! read more

Nice town locale, yet lately it has been getting worse in service. I stopped in for a bit and found myself shopping next to a lady with a cat in her shopping cart....I understand children are the number one common companion and the sensible service dogs (not just because you have a dog)...but a CAT...eeeek.I left my groceries behind and just left....was more in GROSS disgust that this was even allowed for a few minutes in the store. Feline is such a temperamental and chaotic with no guarantee that they won't lash out to an innocent. No one wants to go to a grocery store and either suffer from cat scratches or worse enough...too many people do have serious allergies to cats (mine being more disgust). There should clearly be posted that only [real] service DOGS ( of an average size--no huge dogs)are allowed to accompany grocery shoppers.no other should be permitted fir the overall preference of the community in every town. read more

The checkout card readers could not read my cards chip. Happens a lot of times . Have to do it several times. Sometimes not read at all. I had a new card sent, verified it 3 days ago. Used it again at self check out. Could not read the chip. The attendant had to close down the machine and sent me to another station that had trouble reading my brand new card. Other people were having the same problem on other machines. I complained to the manager. She said they have a lot of problems reading the cards. A lot of times this store is out of things we usually buy. A lot of times the packages have been crushed and cans dented. A guy who works at HEB distribution said that they send the crushed and dented things to stores in poorer areas. read more

I moved to Elgin from South Austin. Every time I pick up curbside there is something subbed or removed. It would be ok but you don't sub potatoes for tater tots. And when they don't sub, I have gone into the store and find the item they removed. I'm not sure if it's a staffing issue but those that work in HEB in Austin tend to not be in high school so I think that's it. I think some more training of the high school kids picking groceries would be helpful. read more

I can't say enough good things about this market!! I mainly deal with grocery, produce and the meat market. Everyone is always so professional, helpful and willing to help. Since the town is not so big, and I'm always in this store, some of the people know me by name. Sometimes there are not enough lines open for how busy it is but they seem to do their best to make the wait in line better. Someone directs the line traffic to other places to help and a lot of times a supervisor will jump on a register to help out. The store is clean and organized and the restrooms are nice and clean, although there is a soap dispenser to the left of the sink in the women's restroom that has refused to give anyone any soap for a few months now. I have had to return some items before and they don't hassle me. I like it! This H-E-B is a keeper. read more

I usually prefer HEB for groceries shopping. But the last few Months Elgin TX HEB has been having a major bad meat problem, and they aren't fixing it. The meat appears nice when you buy it, and it's not expired. Then when you get home to cook, and open it, it's got awful hidden brown spots, brown in the middle of some meat that appeared fine, and/or smells foul. It has wasted a lot of our money, and we don't always have a chance to return it or go back (and why would we go back just to pick up more bad meat, we've already had that issue as well!) And we shouldn't have to keep going back. I'm fed up. Please fix this issue! I no longer trust your meat. Everything else in HEB is fine. read more

We moved to the small town of Elgin, TX two years ago from Round Rock. We had an HEB a couple of blocks away and two HEB Plus stores within a few miles of us. I was worried the Elgin HEB would not be able to live up to that experience. I'm so glad I was wrong! I will choose HEB over any other grocery or big box store in Texas, and the Elgin HEB lives up to that standard. Employees are always friendly and helpful. We buy our groceries, cleaning supplies, personal items, prescriptions, and gas here. So glad our little town is blessed with HEB. read more

This store is a disgrace to even represent "HEB" companies! The management here is below par-meaning--if they need help on the checkout lanes with extra bagging or checkers, you never see the management (top) getting their hands dirty... A few times while shopping, I seen nothing but disgusting uncleanliness around the food- I mean rats the size of cats just roaming the water and beer aisles and then dust and mold collecting on the shelves and produce section. I'm happy for the people of Elgin that now they have more choices for shopping with Wal-mart in town. read more

My Dad and I went through the car wash and if I could give 10 negative stars, I would. I've never had a slower car wash that did such a poor job. I was third in line and each car took about 10minutes so I was sitting for at least 20+ minutes. The car in front of me which got the premium wash had dirt all over their car when the wash was done. This was a huge waste of time and money. read more

Recently, we had to make a few trips to my local HEB and each time I have had the displeasure of having same "checker" cash me out. Twice, Anahi has not said "Hello" or even a "Thank you or direct eye contact; nor a simple smile of acknowledgement. I noticed she did this with both the ones ahead of me and when I went through; she spent most of her time "chatting with a co-worker that had just come back from vacation" (across from me and quite ignoring simple common courtesy of service). You would think that because we are a smaller HEB than the ones in Austin and larger shopping areas would not have time for common courtesy, yet they always take the time to say "Hi" or smile and lately it has been that this is not so with our younger millennials. I was quite surprised that the "bagger" was much more friendly and said "Thank you"(with a smile); even though he did engage in the conversation; without being rude to the customer. I have worked in retail, grocery, fast food, labor, etc and have never not taken a few moments to acknowledge my customer (no matter their appearance or demeanor). Customers are the reason jobs continue forward and a simple rule of "pay it forward". Now, I would rather wait in a longer line to actually not have to end my shopping with such a "sour taste of customer service". I applaud the employees that do always take the time to greet either with eye contact, a smile or a simple "Hi" to the public. read more

If We had any other store within (15) fifteen mile of here, HEB would probably be out of business. They charge more than HEB's in other places like Austin, and when HEB runs an ad in the Austin Paper it is not the same as ads that are delivered in the Austin Paper that is delivered here, and you have to force the HEB here to honor them because they don't seem to want to honor them here. The store is very poorly managed, and you will often have (4) four or more customers waiting in front of you waiting to pay. They never seem to know that long lines can be shortened by being more proactive in opening new lanes. Why they have a front end manager to regulate this baffles me. The Elgin HEB is about expand, why not fix the problems here, so when you expand people will want to shop at the Elgin Store. read more

Proud of their gas. Every place in Elgin is in the $2.50-$2.59 range except HEB and CHEVRON across the street. They are at $2.76. Yes, I said TWO DOLLARS AND SEVENTYTY SIX CENTS. NO ONE in store knows why. Even Walmart is $2.53. Bastrop and every HEB in Austin area is the the $2.50-2.59 range. (I drive Uber and see alot of HEB STORES during my day! I'm always impressed at how clean and organized the store is and how happy and friendly the staff is. The selection of products is also far better than anyone would ever expect from a small town store, and they'll actually add other products to shelf or special order if asked. I'm hooked on the Poke bowls from the in-store sushi bar, which are always fresh. read more

Recently moved to the area. And I Love, love this HEB! I get a country feel when I shop here. Pricing is sometimes better than Wal-marts (especially on meat, produce, and dairy) you can find some great deals, and get unexpected, get this item free coupons. I really LOVE this HEB. We live in Elgin and shop here often. We also go into Austin several times a week. The remodel is amazing and the organic selection is high quality and growing quite a bit. My family really appreciates how friendly everyone is and how clean the store is. Our only complaint - and it's a big deal to us - is that the pharmacy personnel is exceptionally rude almost every time we go there. They act as though you are bothering them and they take F-O-R-E-V-E-R to get prescriptions ready, no matter the time of day, day of week or how many people are there. I don't know why they are like this, and we only haven't switched our meds to CVS because we do our best to stay local, but it sure would be nice if they could remember how they should be treating their customers - especially when often their customers are sick and need a little extra kindness. read more

One word...well, two: Pumpkin empanadas! Very addicting! The bakery at this H.E.B. is excellento! Love the fresh-baked french bread, croissants, donuts. This HEB is the only game in town if you live in Elgin area. Selection is inconsistent. The Pharmacy is THE WORST! Long wait, no sense of urgency, didn't process through insurance properly, blank stares from the technicians. I've pulled all my perscriptions out of there. For the most part the rest of the staff is very friendly. Appreciate the lane monitor that helps direct you to the shortest check out. I've special ordered items on two separate occassions and there was absolutely no follow up, and no, I never got what I ordered. Must say, very impressed with produce, avacados are almost always perfect. Overall some good, some bad but lots of room for improvement. Why is it always so COLD in there? read more

Elgin's HEB Minus! What a store, you want it-they won't order it! No baggers, no problem. Terrible. HEB has got to expand this store or move down the street and build a larger one. Don't even bother going here on the weekend unless you want to bump into other shoppers and spend 15 minutes or more at checkout. It is way too small, congested, and a miserable place to shop, especially during peak times. I live 2 miles from this location, but often drive to the Bastrop HEB or Walmart just so I don't have to mess with this place. Get with it HEB, this store is an embarrassment. read more

When this store first opened, it was great. But now, this has got to be the worst HEB in central Texas. Too many times they are out of multiple items I have on my list. Product selection is slim - they mostly stock their brands and not name brands. Stocking places their brands on the center shelves, and name brands (when they have them) on the very top where you can not reach them, or the very bottom where you have to crawl on the floor to get them. As far as the top and bottom shelves, the do not move the product to the front as the stock depletes, so you can see it, which means to make sure they are not out of something, you end up climbing on the shelfs to see the back of the top shelf, or crawl on the floor to see the backs of bottom shelves. This store does not even carry Welch's Grape Jelly! As far as meat, they carry a lot of the 'value' beef cuts, which to me tastes like chewy cardboard, and only have one or two packages of any prime cut. Bakery is limited, with most of the goodies on the website 'Not Available in Elgin' - you can not even order them for delivery to the store. Produce is usually well stocked, but inspect before you buy because not all of it is good and items with sell by dates are many times past the date. In short, this store has limited product selection and limited stock for what it does carry. If you want to shop HEB, you are better off going to Bastrop, which has a nice well run store. Oh - - this HEB does have a decent pharmacy with one outstanding employee who bends over backwards to help customers. read more
