H to the E to the B! I finally went to H-E-B. I feel like one of the cool kids cuz H-E-B is where it's at. I always see posts from my Texas based Yelp friends about H-E-B. Since this privately held grocery store only has locations in Texas & Mexico, I've never been. The Flores Market establishment is one of the smaller stores - about the size of your average Trader Joes. It was clean, well-stocked, and organized, which makes it convenient to shop. There is an outside seating area to enjoy deli items and freshly baked artisan pizza. My friend and I picked up some fresh fruit and champagne. The fruit was sweet & juicy and the champagne was also quite nice. The cashier was friendly and there are self-checkout stands too. *Large parking lot and gas station on site.

Dear H-E-B Customer Relations, Adam was extremely unprofessional and is a horrible representation of H-E-B

Dear H-E-B Customer Relations, I'm writing to express my deep disappointment regarding a recent experience I had at your Flores location downtown. I've been a loyal H-E-B customer for years and frequently purchase your organic dried mango slices. For over a year, I've noticed a consistent pricing discrepancy where the product rings up incorrectly--overcharging by approximately $2 to $2.25. I've brought this to the attention of staff many times, and every store I've visited (including my regular Alamo Heights location) has always with a smile corrected the price without issue, often even thanking me for pointing it out. However, on this recent visit, after finishing a long overnight shift at the hospital , I stopped by the Flores location to quickly grab a few items. I picked up three containers of the dried mango slices and headed to checkout. The cashier seemed uncertain how to handle the price correction, so she asked a manager, who also appeared confused. Eventually, a third person--who identified himself as Adam and claimed to be the highest authority on-site--was called over. When I explained the situation and asked for the same price correction that's always been honored in other locations, Adam flatly refused. Which was strange because that location has always honored my concern with no issue in the past. Despite showing him a previous receipt from other H-E-B proving the pricing issue, he told me he would only adjust the price on one container, not all three. I asked respectfully if there was anything else that could be done, and his response came across as dismissive and condescending. In this situation, the customer was correct. Adam was very unprofessional and was ridiculous. I felt humiliated. I work hard, and like many others, I rely on H-E-B not only for groceries but for fair treatment and good service. Adam's attitude felt unnecessarily combative and frankly, unprofessional. I'm not sure if he was on a power trip or simply having a bad day, but the way he handled the situation was unacceptable and not reflective of the H-E-B culture I've come to know and respect. My father retired from Central Market, and I've grown up with H-E-B as a staple in my life. I continue to shop daily at H-E-B locations across San Antonio, both near my Alamo Heights home and my downtown apartment. This experience, unfortunately, was unlike any I've ever had, and it made me feel like a burden rather than a valued customer. I'm not asking for anything beyond what's fair. I simply hope this issue is taken seriously so that no other customer is made to feel the way I did. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope it leads to better training and accountability at that store.

It's funny how one day, I visited an H-E-B Plus purely by accident, and it felt like I was in a Fred Meyer up in Washington state. Yet on another day, I visited this H-E-B Market, and it felt like I was in a small, but cozy, Sprouts Farmers Market. That's not to say this was any worse than the H-E-B Plus. In fact, it might be better because it has a more neighborly feel than the larger H-E-B locations I've been to, including the Plus of course. I actually wanted to stop by earlier in my trip because it was closest to my hotel in downtown San Antonio, but one, the parking lot was full when I tried to go the first time, and two, driving around downtown San Antonio is *painfully* slow! Luckily, with this store having such a more relaxing atmosphere in spite of the lack of certain merchandise, I forgot about all the trouble I had driving here, which included a portion of Flores St being blocked off for some reason. This H-E-B is on the southeast corner of Flores and Cesar Chavez Blvd. There is a gas station here, so you can fill up on both groceries and gas here, which is convenient. In fact, this location is closest to the Corporate Office on Main Ave just on the other side of Commanders House Park. I suppose if you want to complain about your experience at this H-E-B Market, you could walk two blocks south to the corporate office, though I wouldn't recommend doing that if it's 100+ degrees outside lol. At a previous H-E-B, I got a coupon for $2.50 off Catalina Crunch cereal. I was hoping to use it at this location, but with how much smaller it was compared to their counterparts, I wasn't surprised that I couldn't find the cereal, even with help from an associate named Robert. The associates, unless they are new, shouldn't have any trouble helping you find what you need. I did, however, find a nice bag of H-E-B trail mix that I thought could have been useful for the trip back home, so I got a bag of that instead. When I went to check out at a self-checkout, my credit card declined! This was the day after the chip on my card got locked up, thus rendering it unusable for the remainder of my trip. Danny, the associate at the self-checkout, saw me expressing my exasperation and didn't hesitate to help. He couldn't get my card to work either, so I had to use a backup card. At first, it didn't work either, but the second time was a charm. I appreciated how he stepped in to help out before I even asked. Remember what I said about neighborly feel? Much appreciated! :) Overall, I would definitely recommend stopping by here for all your grocery needs as long as they have what you need; otherwise, you'd have to go to a different location. I also want to mention they have a nice little patio just outside the market so you can enjoy your just purchased food there. I think it's meant for customers getting a pizza at South Flo, but really, you shouldn't have a problem eating anything else there.

I'm Flabbergasted! This review is only for the behavior of "employees" at this store. A corner market that appears may be a concept they are trying out. Essentially a mini grocery store with gas and a lot of prepared foods in the shadow of downtown. Gas Pumps outside. I was cruising through the area, needed gas and maybe a snack for the road, and pulled in. After filing my quite enormous tank and spending some $$$ with HEB already, I walked toward the entrance to the store. I noticed a security guard assertively walking toward me. If he hadn't been in uniform I would have been concerned. I was already wondering why the aggressive body language! He asks "Is that your maroon truck out there"? Now at this point Im thinking no its Red but, but maroon rhimes with moron which I think you are. He says "you cant leave your truck there. Not, Sir ,to enhance the flow of traffic we would kindly ask you... No he aggressively said You cannot leave your truck there. I will spare you the balance of the story which involves me talking about this being unusual that Two (yes there were two security guards with side arms and bullet proof vests standing at the entrance) of a corner store and telling me to move my Vehicle. Which by the way, I've never been Told or ask to do and its just weird. What makes it weirder is that the pumps weren't busy! Recently everyone in Dallas has been pumped about HEB locating to the area and they do have nice stores. Now that I think about it, when I visited the new Fisco Store recently there was an armed guard at the door who I jokingly ask if he was keeping the bad guys out. I'm all for security when necessary but, not overreach. Seems as a corporation they have an assertive approach which feels a lot like "the State" By the way, the HEB corporate offices are just behind this store in a very nice area. Bummer

This H-E-B is very big with ample parking and a gas in the middle of downtown. Lots of clearance items and items that are reasonably priced. The store is big, clean, and has a great selection of goods. The employees of the register were very nice, and offered to give us a reusable bag free of cost! Would definitely come back to this location for groceries and gas!

    So beautiful

Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing, which is why I'm giving 3 stars. I ordered the veal Schnitzel with mushroom gravy (Jägerschnitzel) and red cabbage. The gravy had a strange gelatin-like consistency and lacked the rich flavor you'd expect from a proper Jäger sauce. The veal was extremely chewy and honestly made me feel ill afterward. The red cabbage was also very undercooked and completely lacked flavor. Overall, I personally did not find the food authentic or representative of true German cooking. What truly saved this experience was the outstanding customer service. Our server, Joseph, was attentive, professional, and genuinely kind throughout the meal. I also greatly appreciated Mr. Adam, the kitchen manager, who personally came out to discuss my concerns. He handled the constructive criticism with professionalism and openness, and I truly respected the fact that he listened carefully and considered my feedback regarding the sauce. Although I wouldn't personally return for the food, Joseph and Mr. Adam turned what could have been a terrible experience into one where I still felt valued as a customer. Their professionalism absolutely deserves recognition.
