Grabbed a chocolate peanut butter smoothie with whey protein (alternative is pea protein), two ginger shots, one turmeric shot and a seasonal pumpkin pie smoothie too. $36.10 The ginger shot is quite tart and wakes you up rightly. The tumeric shot is good, not as harsh as the ginger shot at all, quite palatable. Their napkins are Nintendo Switch advertisement. The pumpkin pie is decent. Not the best Nekter Juice Bar in San Antonio. That title goes to the other location in Timberwood Park, but since this Nekter Juice Bar was much closer to my hotel during my stay in San Antonio, it would have to make do. Luckily, it was good enough that I was willing to make multiple visits during my stay. The location here is more formidable because it's closer to most other shops whereas the other location in Alamo City would be a food desert if the plaza it was located in didn't exist. I came in to use a reward for $2 off any 24+ oz smoothie or juice. Smoothies were always my go to, but this time, I wanted to go with a juice. Which one did I go for? The Large Greenie. Large because they say "Go big or home", right? Greenie because I wanted to make sure I got enough of those nutritious greens that day. When I checked in on Yelp, I also noticed a 20% off Yelp check-in offer, a rather generous offer if you ask me. I asked if both the $2 off and the 20% could be applied, and the male cashier (Aaron?) said he'd try to make something work. I'm not sure what he did, but the $2 off reward remained on my account, and the savings ended up being more than 20%, so I paid less than expected, which was quite nice! Did the juice taste good? Not really, but I definitely wasn't expecting it to. It did taste healthy, but fresh? Hmm tough call. I thought the ingredients could have been better/fresher, but I won't speculate any further at this point. I came on National Smoothie Day for $6 smoothies, and I chose the Mango Delight, which is comparable to the Strawberry Aloha I had at the other location. Not bad, but I wish they had the Strawberry Aloha here as well. On my third visit, I went with the Recovery Juice, using the $2 off that failed to come off on my first visit. I didn't want to haggle the cashier over the Yelp check-in offer again, especially since that cashier didn't really want to be working. I mean, it's not the most glamourous job in the world, but at least show some customer appreciation why don't you?! In fact, the boys running that shop have been friendlier to me than the girls running that shop. How even?! As for the Recovery Juice itself, I don't have any different comments than what I mentioned for Large Greenie. I appreciate how the air-conditioned shop also has free WiFi, and the login info is right at the order counter. That way, I could hop onto Yelp while enjoying my drink and see what my Yelp friends are up to in sub-100 degree weather. Overall, it's not a bad Nekter. If I lived in San Antonio, I'd make this my go to unless I were to live closer to the other location. I just hope service gets better here because it can really go a long way in this day and age. I knew I wanted an açaí bowl over a smoothie.. a friendly employee made suggestions and I decided on the açaí mango bowl. Note - The mango and cashew milk is blended into açaí base which gives it a lighter hue in color. Pineapple chunks, not mango top the bowl, in addition to coconut, granola, strawberry, and banana. Finally a solid açaí bowl/juice/smoothie spot in San Antonio! I came here on opening day, and while there were some things they need to iron out, the juice and bowl I ordered were delicious! I got The Greenie, which has kale, spinach, parsley, celery, cucumber, lemon, and red apple. The combination was super yummy and all the ingredients are freshly juiced to order. Nekter is a big chain juice bar/acai bowl spot that offers fresh ingredients, but lacks anything extra that makes me want to return. I ordered the peanut butter açaí bowl and recovery juice. Bowl: açaí blended with banana, strawberries, dates, peanut butter, and house made cashew milk. It come out super watery, like a smoothie rather than a thick bowl. The açaí flavor was not there and the peanut butter was very basic, like jiffys (not a bad thing but I expected more flavor). Also, I didn't want green apples and asked to sub with any other fruit, but they left out the extra fruit all together and just gave me strawberries and bananas. Lastly, the bowls are one size and if you can see in my pictures, the açaí to fruit to granola ratio was not worth $10. Juice: Beet, ginger, kale, orange, and celery. Smooth texture but I wish it had more orange or ginger because it was watered down by the celery juice. Overall, I will not return to Nekter. There are several açaí bowl and juice spots in the Alamo Heights area that feature better and tastier options. read more

I am always a bit skeptical to try juice bars because the often taste "generic" like something you can buy at the store in a freezer, but Nekter is truly fresh! I tried the dragon fruit bowl and the toxic flush juice and the were both amazing! The bowl was very smooth, fresh, and I love food with lots of textures. The juice had a fabulous ginger punch that stings the back of your throat, I love it! You can taste the freshness of all the juices. They are a bit pricy (you're looking at about $8+ for a small 16 oz. smoothie), but most smoothie places cost this much and if you're going to spend that much on a drink you may as well go somewhere good (or learn to re-create at home). Nice location nestled in midtown Alamo Heights. The inside is setup well with a half dozen tables for customers. The service was great. I ordered two smoothies, and they were ready quickly. The young man answered all my questions and was super nice. As for the menu, they have bowls, smoothies and fruit juices. I love that they offer "functional" options for the health nut in me including wellness shots of ginger or turmeric. You can add immunity, protein or metabolism boosts for $1. I have always heard great things about Nekter in Austin but never get the chance to go when I visit. Our local business is equally amazing! The dragonfruit bowl is flavorful and naturally sweet and the berry banana blast was really sweet but very good as well. Nice to know of a go to place when I'm in Alamo heights or surrounding areas! My acai bowl was okay, and a bit on the more affordable end for the size which I was happy about. However, the customer service was my issue. The area is small, and while we were waiting on our order, the staff were loudly talking about how their coworker needs to be fired (he later showed up for his shift). After a bit of a wait.. we got our order and mine wasn't made correctly which is normal but I was honestly annoyed that they were so standoffish and annoyed about it. The girl who took my order kept on loudly repeating well she didn't tell me that (I confirmed multiple times no granola) and they loudly were going on about how they have to write a report now and throw away the acai bowl. Like dude.. come on- it was a simple error (and an error not even on my end.. the receipt had it stated too). Let's chill. I ordered the Pink Flamingo and my husband ordered the Orange Crush. They were both fresh and so yummy! Our smoothies were not too thick or overly sweet or bitter. They really got it right. Who doesn't love a good cold pressed juice, smoothie, or Açaí bowl... Here is a great new place in Alamo Height nestled away in a small strip of stores. There is ample parking and a few outdoor seats. The inside is nice and bright with a good amount of indoor seating. We were greeted promptly when we came in and there was a couple ahead of me which was good. It gave me time to look over the menu. They have several options of cold pressed juices to detox and energize that can me made on the spot as well as bottled options if you wanted to purchase a detox regimen. If your not a fan of cold pressed juice then smoothies may be you go to drink..which they also have plenty to choose from. However I chose to get a bowl ( I am a fan of these)... I got the berry açaí ( blueberries, strawberries, banana, hempseed granola) for my son and I got the mango açaí ( mango, strawberry, pineapple, coconut, and hempseed granola). Yelp elite event!! Arrived on a Monday around 12:30. Parking was a little tricky as this shopping center is a busy place. Walking into Nekter Juice Bar was nice. Very clean and the employees were very welcoming. Only three customers inside and nobody outside, probably because it was too hot out! I went to check out the restroom because there was a lady ordering when I got to the counter. Restroom was very clean. I got back to the counter and told the young girl I was there for the Yelp Elite event. She proceeded to tell me that I could pick a bowl, juice, or smoothie. I looked through all the choices and the bowl looked good to me. I picked the Dragon Fruit bowl. It was very appealing to the eye! Bright pink/purple on the bottom. This was so refreshing on such a hot day. Was not too sweet, the fruit and agave on top was just the right amount. Definitely will be going back this weekend to try a juice or smoothie. I was so excited to finally have a Nekter in town! Before I moved to Texas, my spin class was right next door to a Nekter and 'd always stop by after class. My go-to drink is the Toxin flush - I love how they'll size up your drink to make room for ice and customize my preferences. The Acai bowls are also so big; I'm never able to finish it. I highly recommend downloading the Nekter app as I'm always getting alerts for free 'shots' and promos. It's the perfect stop on a hot day and they have these neat 1-day cleanse packages by the counter when I'm feeling guilty after overeating over the weekend.
