Another great find are the many liquor stores here that offer very cheap bottles of your familiar liquor! All, up and down the main strip your going to find a wide array of merchants selling everything from authentic Mexican textiles, shoes, boots, Mexican candy stores, clothes, Mexican pottery, jewlery, souvenirs, curiosities, fine leather products such as purses, etc and so much MORE. Servises such as spas and cosmologist salons are a big thing here as well. Don't forget THE FOOD! You'll find many restaurants serving authentic Mexican food and seafood at a fraction of the price of what you would have paid for it right across the border! One of our favorite features of shopping in Nuevo Progresso is the many, many bars that are in every other store serving up delicious margaritas and your favorite beers and cocktails. They slso have hot foods ready, like barbacoa on weekends and fresh tortillas daily. It has a huge parking lot so you can drive around for hours to get that perfect spot! The produce department is not huge, but adequate. The meat department is pretty nice. I have yet to use any butcher services, but I'm sure they can accommodate. My only real issue with this place is the lines at checkout. There always seems to be long lines. They do try to organize the way they move with a manager usually directing people and sometimes even opening up extra registers. The lines back up mostly in the evenings when they have only 2 or 3 registers open. Overall, a clean and decently stocked small town HEB.
