If you're looking for great wings, the H.J. Wings & Things in Sharpsburg is amazing. The wait staff seems to find ways of getting you seated very quickly regardless of how busy they are. They surprise me every time I go and they look slammed, I'm always seated in less than 10 minutes! Regarding the ambiance, it has a sports bar look to it but the dining area and restrooms are clean and kept up with. The one issue I experienced is we were seated in the covered porch area and two or three times while we were there, employees would have smoke breaks outside the back door of the restaurant where they could be seen smoking and the smoke from their cigarettes could be smelled where we were sitting. When we arrived we planned to get our drink order in first and then order food. But we knew we were ordering wings so went ahead. 25 minutes later we had neither. After someone asked about our drink order a second waitress took our order. It came out in 5 min. 2 min later our food order came out. We know it was the second order that came out because when we got our bills that had the original order. We didn't bother correcting them. And! Then they didn't bring our cash change. I got a sampler plate, and when it arrived with only a marinara sauce for cheese sticks, I asked for the other sauces. Attitude! Stopped in with my family to have lunch today. the dining area was very messy, every open table was cluttered with dirty dishes from the diners before. they had one server working on the floor and we literally sat at our dirty table for over 15 minutes and never got a greeting or a table busser to clean the table. we walked out and nobody noticed that business had come in and left. This restaurant is a disorganized, chaotically run restaurant that seems to be like this every day as this was our third time and both times before we were barely any better. I never give restaurants a one star, unless something goes really wrong. I got severe salmonella food poisoning from here after eating the bone in chicken wings. Yuck! The pain started about 4-6 hours after I ate here and peaked at 8 hours post meal and I'm not talking about just the New Jersey Squirts folks, nope, I'm talking full on stomach pain that will bring a grown man to his knees on top of vomiting. I've eaten at a lot of places around the country and I've never gotten this sick! Ended up at Urgent Care and got a shot in the butt and then got rushed to have an ultrasound due to the severity of the pain (and to rule out other causes). Turns out it was a severe case of food poisoning (most likely salmonella), got put on two antibiotics. Will never go back here. Terrible! Some dirty little cook didn't wash their nasty little hands I suppose. Retrain your folks on food handling safety! read more

Visited 2 weeks ago on trivia night. 3/4 of the restaurant was reserved our only choice to eat was wait or sit outside which I thought was ridiculous but my wife and I wanted wings and we have eaten there for years. Chose outside and after a couple of minutes no one came so we were mad so as we were leaving I talked to the manager who not only didn't care but was willing to let us leave without even trying to keep us as customers. I explained I was willing to give the restaurant money and he could've cared less all he said was sorry. We will never give that place our business again! We went to the other HJ in summer Grove and they were way nicer and actually glad to have us as customers. If wish I could give this place a zero but the lowest I could give was a 1 star, if you want to be appreciated as a customer look elsewhere. read more
